Has anyone shopped on Jomashop?

I knew them back from when they sold only bags.....if you go with the watchery, for example, world of watches, watchesonet. They back what they sell. They also fix it. Jomashop seemed to jump on the bandwagon and my little contact was not positive. They sell also on ebay. It is one thing to Michele or Movado from someone JomaShop, but I would not buy a Rolex, or extremely high end watch from Joma, etc. Only buy if you are certain that they can service the watch for you. This is important. Once the battery dies, you would want to take it only to an authorized dealer. they might not touch it if you didn't get it from an AD. Grey market watches are treated as used, at best. That is, they'll fix, clean, change the battery, but you are responsible.

Has anyone purchased the Chanel J12 on Jomashop before? The price is the lowest that I can find online. Any suggestions? It will save me at least $1500 on Jomashop, so the discount is great, but not sure it is a good way to purchase such an expensive at Jomashop. Any suggestions?

LOL - I'm new at this and am looking at the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean for my hubby's 40th. I've seen Jomashop mentioned a lot on this site but am confused!

I'm confused by the "grey market" term... are watches purchased from Jomashop authentic Omega brand new watches? I am guessing they are not an authorized dealer - should I feel safe going to them to save an extra say 10%? It seems I can get 15-20% off in stores in Toronto... and up to 28% off at Jomashop. Is it a risk? And is it worth it?

Thanks!!!

grey market means the item is authentic however not made for the US market. so it will be an authentic Omega, but wasn't meant to be sold here. Also, you don't get manufacturer warranty. usually the unauthorized retailer offers their own service plan.

personally, if i'm buying a high-end watch, i want one that is sold from an authorized seller, so i can get lifetime repair and service from the brand. i also find jomashop a bit shady. when they were having tfp deals, i bought a tiffany piece and had questions about it and ended up returning it. i feel better just paying the extra money at tiffany direct. i do have a fendi from joma that is fine. but for watch/jewelry that may eventually need service, i'd stick to boutique.

When I was buying my OMEGA Seamaster (Aqua Terra) I searched the watch forums and this is what I gathered...

Basically sometimes ADs are "required" to purchase a certain amount of watches under a certain time to maintain their authorized dealer status. Sometimes the goods aren't that easy to move so they resell these watches to the grey market vendors like Jomashop.com etc.

The watches are REAL, but since it didn't come from a AD, there is no stamped warranty paperwork (ALTHOUGH you do get the warranty cards, it's just NOT stamped).

I ended up buying my Omega from Prestigetime.com (if I remember correctly) for $1700 when retail is $2500? Something like that.... Shipping was fast and service was great. One thing you HAVE HAVE HAVE to always check is if the serial numbers on the watches are there, some grey market dealers remove them so the serial numbers CANNOT be tracked back to the AD who sold the watch to a grey market vendor.

Mine came with all papers + serial number.

You might want to check with the watch manufacturer to see if they'll service it for you under warranty if you purchase it there. Within the last year I bought a different brand watch at a TJ Maxx, and now I need service. When I called the manufacturer, they told me that TJ is authorized for them, and all I have to do is send the receipt with it.

Try checking Prestigetime.com - they're like Jomashop and have gotten "sells authentic" comments from watch forums and The Watch Snob. I got my Omega there.
