Another non-US person here - is there a similar product in the UK?

[I tried a small splash of Fairy washing up liquid with a Pucci scarf I'd bought on Ebay that stank of cigarette smoke and it seemed to work not too bad - no colour runs at least!]

Mosiaque!

This scarf came to me dingy, smelly, and with flat hems.
I had to keep it in a ziploc bag to keep it from contaminating its cousins...

You may get an idea of the dinginess...

.....

:roflmfao: That's how I felt about an eekBay scarf I rec'd once. I actually threw mine in the washer (w/a bit of All Free Clear liquid) on gentle/cool-cold rinse and it came out great.

Awesome thread & pics CB! G-d, I love scarves.:tender:

Cobaltblu, You've Convinced Me, And I'm Ready To "take The Plunge" - No Pun Intended. My Lb Silk Wash Is On The Way, And It May Just Turn Into A Scarf Washing Marathon This Weekend.

Thanks For The Great Advice.

It's funny to see this thread bumped up. I was washing my scarves last night and I was thinking of this thread!

Thanks CB for this thread, it helped this "newbie-then" on scarves washing!!! :flowers:

CB, thanks for this thread! Especially the pictures, so
we can see what the whole scarf cleaning process looks like. :)

Now I won't be afraid to clean my scarf and/or twilly. :)

a quick question, how often u all wash the silk? i have handmade batik (a kind of dying method for fabric in Indonesia) and they cost me a lot. And i read that dry cleaning is not gd for silk.

1) Can the same method be apply for all silk related stuff?
2) Should we wear the H scarf before washing it for the first time?

Thank you for this thread! Yesterday I washed my brand-new, first and only H scarf. It came out beautifully. What I like most is that it isn't quite as stiff as it was originally--it feels more wearable!

I dried mine by doing the roll in the towel trick and then hung it over the back of a chair.

I know this is an old post, but I'm so glad you mentioned your scarf was more wearable ck21 because mine is kind of stiff. Thank you for this thread CB, I am going to take the handwash plunge today!

hey CB
thank you for starting this useful thread. :hugs:just wanted to say after reading this, I took the plunge and washed my twillies in baby shampoo (just a quick swish swish) and they are now fresh and clean. i am happy to report, no color run or skrinking!
