Okay Cobalt - I've washed and rolled in a towel. Better hurry up with the details of pressing, etc!

Thx for this thread! (and for whoever revived it; sorry, didn't get through entire thread).

Pressing is the most important part of this process!

H-It-Up, but here's a brief summary:
Assemble following stuff: iron set at lowest setting, clean flat bedsheet--folded to accommodate your scarf, large flat surface that can accommodate the entire scarf (large dining table or floor; I recommend table to prevent a backache)
(after rolling the scarf in a clean dry towel to remove excess moisture)
(a) Place bedsheet on the large flat surface. It should be several layers thick to serve as a "pad" for the damp scarf.
(b) Place the scarf, wrong side up, on the sheet. Smooth out crinkles/wrinkles.
[optional] To add some extra body to moussey's, I spray a light mist of "Magic Sizing" spray starch to the wrong side of the scarf, just before ironing.
(c) With iron at lowest setting, iron from center just up to the edge. Avoid touching the iron to the rolled hem. Work quickly/steadily until the entire scarf is dry.
NOTE: The key here is to remove moisture
via the ironing process; not via air-drying. This is esp. important w/ mousseys, which will shrivel up into crinkles if ironed or steamed when dry.
Good luck! (it's scarey as heck the 1st time; EZr the next, and no solvent odor to irritate skin.)
p.s. some on TPF report their dry cleaners use supercritical CO2 for dry cleaning. (similar stuff used to decaffeinate coffee.)
