Even though it's MUCH more finicky, I am so glad I went for the "old" new Diana with the smooth leather. I did not like the look or feel of the textured leather in person. My husband, who works in high-end custom vehicle manufacturing — meaning I trust his opinion on if something is well-made or not — said the "new" new Dianas felt very cheap and he urged me to go with the older model.
Ginza flagship only had a floor model available, and it had quite a few knicks and scuffs. My amazing SA sent a courier to another Tokyo store to grab a completely untouched bag — the last one in stock in Tokyo!

I prefer the smooth leather too, but not all colour options are available, plus, it's all a matter of preference.
Does anyone have an Anita I could see in use? I have my eye on one but don't see it out and about often. Thanks!

Walked into a store in Italy on my birthday with no intention of buying a new handbag but saw the the medium top handle and fell in love. Fortunately the SA mentioned that is was a classic style (which is a keyword for my husband) and my birthday gift was decided. Absolutely love it. Unfortunately, housekeeping decided to remove the extra strap, and dust bag from the box (actual handbag was not in the box) and stole the gucci box, shopping bag, packing material and controllato card. Someone mentioned seeing the shopping bag in the dressing room so it wasn’t as if it was “accidentally” thrown away. Still waiting to hear how the hotel will handle it. Does anyone know if this will cause difficulties when trying to get the VAT refund and how if could effect resale value.

It won't alter your VAT refund, but it may impact resale, not too much though.
If it's one of the new ones with an extra strap, obviously if you sell it soon people will know and it'll be a loss, but I would think somewhere down the line a new buyer wouldn't be that concerned, nor with the box or dust-bag. There are plenty of BTHs that only have one strap (or none). If you use the services of a reseller/auction house, the grade report may alter and affect their recommended price (NWT/NIB/etc). Most don't know which season has what unless it's current.
Before 1993, the BTHs didn't have a strap as standard.
Only since 2021 BTH have had 2 straps.
Fortunately (relatively) they left the strap and dust bag on the coffee table so I still have those. It also shows that it was very deliberate. I was more concerned about the controllato card and the packaging material as the VAT refund states that item should be shown to them unused. I am trying to figure out how the hotel can compensation as it isn’t something I can claim on insurance though the value is compromised. Essentially without the controllato card with the serial number, it could easily come across as a stolen bag. Perhaps I am being dramatic, but I have never had issues with housekeeping before and am feeling a bit helpless and disappointed at the moment.Very sorry to hear about housekeeping at the hotel
