Amazing condition too

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post but I was wondering if anyone knows the name of this bag style. I recently bought it on eBay from Japan and I love it but none of the listings seem to include a style name. Thanks in advance!

Bamboo 1947 Then and Now

The iconic handbag is reimagined through the eyes of Japanese artisans and contemporary artists in the new exhibition celebrating 60 years of Gucci in Japan.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of Gucci’s official introduction in Japan in 1964. To celebrate, the House presents a new exhibition dedicated to the Gucci Bamboo 1947. The special exhibition showcases a creative project that brings together Japanese artisans and contemporary artists to reimagine 60 vintage Bamboo 1947 bags: goldsmith and Living National Treasure Morihito Katsura and his student Naoko Ai; ceramist Nakazato Hirotsune; lacquerer Ai Tokeshi; photographer Daido Moriyama; painter Nami Yokoyama, and painter Yui Yaegashi. Then and now, Gucci’s ties with Japanese craftsmanship continue to resonate, weaving a story of tradition and innovation.

Discover the exhibition from August 2 to September 23, 2024, at Gucci Ginza Gallery in Tokyo.

Thank you so much! Some are really works of art.

I'm thinking that some of them have to be seen IRL and close up to be appreciated. In terms of the photos, as some customizations seem to work better than others.

The most stunning IMO are the ones that have used or been influenced by traditional Japanese techniques and finishes to either the handles and turnkey closure or the leather. They seem more in-tune with the event and occasion too.

I have nothing against customization but I also have a love and like the variations as issued and the classics.

I’m joining the club with this belated Christmas gift. Can’t wait to carry it!
Hi,

I have received this beauty in the same color, but I’m not sure to keep it or not. How is the bamboo handle and the bag holding up after use?

Have you had second thoughts? I keep seeing the bamboo handle bags on pre loved websites for less than half of its original price, and that’s what making me doubt it.

People make bicycles out of bamboo, in the UK, we have a club for people who have bamboo bikes. Gucci BTH handles are much hardier than most leather ones, and no-one even sits on them or leaves outside in the rain, one would hope anyway .

The prices were probably less than they are now so it only appears like they've halved.

I Bought my Med so black BTH almost 3 years ago and it was half of what it is now.

It’s holding up fine so far. I rotate my bags, and this is one of my favorites.
