These new bags stink IMO! The handles on the city are smaller, the leather quality is sub-par and the mGH is just OK. I'm a bit disappointed with Bal. I really, really hope they reconsider their harddware decision for next season.

well i'm about to buy my 1st work last week but when i visited a bal boutique in here i found that the leather is not as good as what i've seen in my friends' bal from earlier year.
i've zero experience in bal and thought that probably because it has aged and broken well due to everyday use that makes the leather supple, has its shine and all compares to the new one. but it stop me from buying it right away...
i know that it's 2012 bag because it has G12 hw but has the leather is always a bit stiff on the new bag?

The leather seems thinner. On GH bags it was usually thick and chewy. Maybe they will break in better, but the leather just seems off.

Was a Neimans in Tysons Corner and noticed the 2012 bags seemed to have thinner leather - something is different in the leather from 2011 - cant put my finger on it.

So - I saw a nicely distressed dark violet city and noticed that near the holes in the stiching on the strap the leather was white? like it was not dyed all the way through. Whats up with that?

That really sucks! However I've seen that on older bbags as well, but I think their QC is really declining, which is not acceptable considering the price increase.
Off topic - Nancy, is the leather thin as the other tpfers pointed out?

yes - all thin
neimans never really has good leather whenever i look - the Tysons Neimans anyway -

But I have to say that the blue indigo is a gorgeous color

I was down in Barneys ('natch) and "felt up" a bunch of the bags .. and totally agree, the leather feels thinner. Don't like the "skinny" handles either. In the meantime, my Hamilton leather goodies are getting better & smooshier every day.

Please post some pics of your new bags! I'd love to seem them and all their smooshiness.

I compare my Vieux Rose 2011 PT with my Granny 2009 PT, it's obvious that the handles are thinner... If Bal wants to charge premium prices, they better make premium quality as well!!!

Jacynthe- mid-blue, with a slight Purple tone

Wow ! I'm so sure that I 'll wait for this color :yahoo:

Just discovered myself lately , that I'm a big fan with Blue w/ grey or purple undertone :D

But is this also the similar version of Blue lavender or Nuage ?(both are blue with undertone purple too)

Thnx Ceejay

Okay .. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! [theme song ...]

New styles:

  • The new "Bowling" style bag will be available in the F/W season. I agree with *TMitch* .. looks very similar to the "Bow" style except that it includes a cross-body strap.
  • The new "Day"-type bag will (stylistically) be like the old Day, except with a little more structure (think hybrid Courier & Day bag). It will be larger than the current Day and also have a cross-body strap. Sounds kind of interesting!!
  • LOTS of new Papier styles; some very interesting with different colored stitching and/or multi-colored leathers (similar to the Celine tote that has different colored leather on the sides). I liked them; especially the ones with the different colored stitching (e.g., Grey/Anthra with a Melon-colored stitching!).
Colors:
  • Gris Tarmac - Dark Grey (similar to the '07 Anthracite, in other words - teal/green undertones); this is the color that will be replacing Anthracite
  • Cumin - a mid-golden brown (reminded me of the "oldie" Caramel - '03, '06). Everyone seems very excited about this color.
  • Dark Evergreen color - Vert Floret; definitely more in the "Pine Green" category.
  • Jacynthe - mid-blue, with a slight Purple tone; looked like Atlantique .. except lighter and with a purple undertone. My intel sources said that they didn't think this color was a winner (too similar to recent colors).
  • Rose Thulian - bright Red, with a slight Pink tone .. "thulian" is in the Rose family (color-wise), but the pics looked like this -
    RubyGlint.gif

  • Cassis - Burgundy/Wine color; although .. definitely a more "muted" Bordeaux than the 'old' Bordeaux or Grenat
  • Mango - bright Orange-Yellow; looked kind of like the old Marigold or Jaune .. definitely a winner!

Ceejay

Have they told you about bringing Giant Hardwere back at all?

btw , from your described I 'll def. keep my finger cross for Jacynthe
