BTW Has anyone noticed of lining of MU? I was going to buy 2012 SS MU at HN last month, I checked the inside the MU before purchasing then I could not believe that the lining is made by some plastic which really seems cheap. I can understand their intention of changing the material as the cotton lining gets dirty quickly for MU but they could have at least used the same material as toillet case (not produced any more) . The prastic lining really put me off .

Hmmm .. interesting; my Hamilton Leather pencil has the plastic lining (I thought that maybe it was unique to the Hamilton line), but frankly .. given what I carry in it, I would prefer to have the plastic versus the cotton lining. My Hamilton CP; however, does still have the cotton lining.

i completely agree *C ...they are cutting costs every season, i am tired of this situation:blah: ...that's why i moved into CELINE , the only colour i will buy is dark night for this season . I love gris poivre but it is too close to papyrus and and i prefer keeping my old bags :smile1:

I know *F* .. I'm really bummed that Balenciaga is moving in this direction as I've pretty much been a hard-core Bal enthusiast for a very long time. I do love the Celine bags (had an Anthra Envelope Mini Luggage), but I find them so heavy that I simply can't carry them for long periods of time.

I really think it would behoove Balenciaga to take a step back and re-think their "brand" (similar to what Rolex did a few years back). Stop over-producing and stick to making less bags at better quality and don't sell to too many retailers. Unfortunately, given the large company mindset nowadays (where profits/cost-cutting are king), I kind of doubt that they would do that. Really sad ...

i know it and i totally agree with you:yes: , every brand (incl celine) is cutting costs ,and increase prices in this period of bad economy :(( ,at least balenciaga didn't increase like chanel or celine ... (btw speaking of celine:did you try the phantoms? they are very lightweight compared to gh part times :graucho:)

I hope Bal doesn`t stop providing the dust bag!!!

No dust bags for small accessories? What are they going to do next? No tassels for rh city? Seriously I already started to regret buying the new mini giant city this year after I found out the thinner handle & leather. If Bal is going to increase their price next season, I might just say bye bye to Bal bags forever.

Gee, this is downright tacky from a Premier Designer...they are sending the wrong message about themselves!!! I am happy with my newest Bal acquisition in Jan and if that's my last, I'll survive. There ARE other bags to lust after and eliminating a choice just simplifies things for me...twisted but true.

I've always been surprised with the non-luxurious lining in Bal bags as it was, they shouldn't push their clientele to the limits of cheapness.

I agree with CeeJay - the new lining is FAR easier to clean - impossible to get makeup or lipgloss off of that cloth lining. Less risk of completely ruining your Pencil in case of a leak...:smile1:

Oh yes ... looooove the Phantom!! The big problem for me is having to hand-carry a bag. It puts too much weight on the elbow, which then travels up to the shoulder ...

I bought a Coquelicot MU last summer and it came with a plastic lining - as I'd never owned a MU before, I just assumed this was standard! It also made sense to me, as I figured that it'd be a lot more difficult to clean makeup out of the regular black canvas.

I expect a make up bag to have a cleanable lining, myself, else I risk ruining an entire bag if something leaks. I've been considering getting a non-Bal bag (although if one wants a cloth interior, the leather on the cosmetics bag has got to be really waterproof - and I don't like that).

I'm not sure what else they could use except some kind of synthetic (plastic) material. Nylon isn't waterproof, rubber is - but seriously, who would want a rubber lining?

Nope, I want a bag I can carry and put things in that might otherwise destroy a nice bag (prescription eyedrops, etc). I've been really surprised on the "What's in your Bal Bag" thread to see people's eyedrops just out in their purse (my coin purse still hasn't recovered from the eyedrop spill and it's been professionally cleaned - I can still see, barely, where the spill occurred - and that's just salt water).

Any type of screw on lid can screw off in transit (and with my luck, it will). Someone on another thread recommended me the toilette for just this reason - so I, for one, am glad to hear the MU's are being built for the actual purpose of holding MU.

This actually makes me want to hold out for a MU rather than use a hip (as I was thinking I might do) for this purpose. And a late model MU, with the plastic. So, I'm sort of jazzed.

My pencil has plastic lining and I found out there is actually another layer between the leather and the plastic lining, which makes the pouch more durable I think. So I don't think this change is to cut the cost.

Completely agree w all this. The plastic lining is a blessing, IMHO. I just bought this make up pouch thingy and was relieved to see plastic lining instead of cloth. I've already "flipped it inside out" for a quick pat down and any remnant of lip gloss and powder disappeared. The lining doesn't feel cheap to me and it will help me keep the inside cleaner, for longer.

This is a good thing, girls. :)

I don't think this has been mentioned in this thread yet.......

My contact at one of the US Bal boutiques told me that they are not ordering the green at all. His phrase was "the green has been cancelled". I'm not sure what the US buyers have against green but they haven't really ordered any of the greens over the past few seasons. So if you want the evergreen you will have to look to Europe or the small local boutiques that carry Bal.
