Now that I've read through ALL 93 pages, I can finally share my own BF B25 (Z stamp, purchased Jan 2022) in this thread! I'm so excited to see this bag age over the years after reading all the experiences! It's crazy how different the color can look under different lighting conditions even more-so than other leathers I have from H...the first below is in natural light, then some others in different artificial lighting situations (including the last one in the store's really warm lighting which always looks great in-store, but odd in photos).

Love it - so happy for you!

Hi everyone,

I’m new here, and am a little bit panicked right now. I have a Barenia Faubourg K32 that until now, has been in immaculate shape. Last week, I mentioned to my well intentioned husband that I wanted to condition some of my bags. He picked up a bottle of Leather Honey on Amazon after reading several positive reviews. I used the Leather Honey on a black Chanel and it worked wonderfully. I mentioned to my husband maybe getting around to conditioning a few of my vintage H bags - NOT the BF, of course. He wanted to do something nice for me, so he conditioned a pair of my boots, and then started “conditioning” my Barenia K32. As soon as the first drop of Leather Honey hit the bag, it created a huge, very dark spot. He stopped immediately and told me what happened.

That was about two hours ago. I’m horrified, but am trying to suppress my anger right now and focus on problem solving. I dabbed water on the spot hoping it would dry back to its natural color - didn’t help. I now have a small mound of corn starch sitting on the stain, and this doesn’t seem to be helping either. I don’t know what’s in Leather Honey, but whatever it is does NOT agree with Barenia Faubourg! I’m so devastated and was wondering if anyone might have a suggestion, before I take this into the H Spa? Thank you!

It's probably the oil in Leather Honey that is creating the problem, so you did exactly the right thing by putting corn starch on the area. Let it sit for a few hours, the consider shaking off that application and applying a new layer. You can even leave overnight, as the corn starch may absorb a great deal of the oil. Repeat if you see it making a difference. It may take a number of applications and a day or two. And if this fails, stop, put your hands in the air and you can head to the spa if you want.
This is only my opinion ( and I'm NO expert!), but its worked before. Fingers crossed

And kudos to such a considerate partner for thinking of you and trying to help.

OMG I feel for you!!! But don't be angry at your husband...him watching you panic over it will be lesson-enough! I do hope it comes out with a few applications of corn starch, but if not I'd definitely reach out to your SA and ask if the Spa can look at it for you. They may not be able to fix it, but I'm sure they'll try to help!

Thank you both! I couldn’t stay mad for long, it was clear he felt terribly, he even offered to buy me a new one, although I don’t think he realizes what that costs or entails, ha. We rubbed vigorously at first and this was a big mistake, it left that spot looking smoother and less grained than the surrounding areas. Luckily, the spot is on the bottom of the bag. Corn starch didn’t seem to do much, unfortunately, even after letting it sit overnight. I read some people have had success basically saturating Barenia in water and letting it air dry, repeating as many times as necessary until stains have lifted. Now - this was recommended for classic Barenia, not Faubourg, but I decided to take my chances, despite being told by my SA that BF isn’t quite as water friendly as old school Barenia.

I’m pleased to say - it mostly worked! I saturated the entire bottom portion of my Kelly with cool water, until it was uniform in color. It was *terrifying,* but it dried no problem and the stain is much less noticeable. I did it a second time, and it is lighter still. It seems the issue now will be the texture change from the vigorous panic-induced rubbing last night, not so much the discoloration. However - I don’t mind a little character, and as this is on the bottom of the bag, I figure I can live with it. You don’t go for Barenia unless you like your bag to have a personality, right?

For anyone out there reading - just remember, no Leather Honey!! Although my boots look great… lol.

Oh glad to hear this! As a first time owner of BF, I feel your pain (and your husband's). Thanks for coming back to update.

Now that I see good news, I feel it’s appropriate to post my first BF in the form of Saut Hermes 25. Now I understand why people love this type of leather.

PS: I warned my husband to stay away from this bag.

Of course, if anything I wanted to update so if anyone should find themselves in a similar position with staining, they know BF will tolerate water beautifully, despite warnings that it’s not as H2O friendly as classic Barenia.

And omg, your bag is stunning! The perfect choice for this marvelous leather. Talk about timeless, that will still be beautiful in 20, 30, 40 years. Wonderful choice.
