this thread is so helpful and inspiring. i have purged my collection and only have the following bags: LV mono neverfull gm, LV damier ebene speedy 30, and an MK black leather clutch. i am comtemplating purchasing the LV galliera azur pm or a prailine balenciaga but it is so hard to commit to any purchase after purging :P
Congrats!! I'm glad you purged some of your bags and are putting more though into your purchases. I'm trying to do the same as well! it's encouraging to hear that it IS possible!

thanks...yeah i can be an impulse buyer when i want to be but i def have more self control now and i think i am now more aware of my style rather than trends. i think that was the most difficult thing...oh and trying to get the bag that everyone thinks you should have rather than the one that is best for you ;)

You have a great collection! I think that the Speedy and the Neverfull are my two fave LVs - I actually bought a Neverfull myself a few months ago & loved it, but I returned it because I was in purge mode and couldn't commit to the purchase...just like you said, once you purge it's very difficult to start building up your collection again in some ways. I know that I am painfully aware of my purchases now.

thank you very much...i really love the bags i do have  and i use them all the time!

This is still one of my favorite threads and glad to see so many are inspired by it! I have 3 more I'm going to purge but I find that now I don't have a lot of COLOR in my collection. I have neutrals: black, brown, red, navy and cream. When I get the urge to buy a bright, fun colored bag, I'll get aTano. The price can't be beat so there is never any real guilt about buying one.

I love it - an equal opportunity hand bag lover! :D

And the fact that you consider red a neutral is further proof of your coolness, lol - I thought that I was the only one around here who thought that way!

I like Tano, too - they always manage to make at least one bag that really interests me each season.

I was just thinking about this thread!

I sold another bag on bonanzle the other day... my 2nd sale ever on the bonz. Looks like things are picking up for me there!

I made a really big purchase the other day.... prematurely too.... so now I have to do damage control and figure out what needs to go.

Are you still waiting for that bag from the UK Lo?

Congrats on your sale, thithi!! You will be so happy you sold on the Bonz once you get the bill for your Bonz fees..they are CRAZY low.

What did you buy? Outremer Day, anyone? :graucho:

I can't wait to see it!!!!!!!!!!!!! :happydance:

And yep, my bag did arrive from the UK in record time. It was a bit of an "interesting" wait because the seller disappeared from the face of the Earth and never contacted me to let me know that the bag had shipped, what the tracking number was, etc, - despite the messages that I sent her - but oh well. The bag arrived safe and sound and it's perfect. I wanted a very casual everyday bag so I bought a See by Chloe Day Tripper tote in a gorgeous red with gray handles..it's brand new and the leather is KILLER.

However, it was a bit of an impulse buy and when it arrived I knew that it wasn't for me, as cool as it is. So it's already on the chopping block.

For anyone interested in my progress (or lack thereof, lol), here's my current collection:

Chloe Medium Edith in Red
Chloe Medium Edith in Whiskey
YSL Zip Hobo in Black
Chloe Small Betty in Black

At this point I am looking for a cross-body and a larger convertible bag. This is how it looks at the moment:

- Small Cross-body: Most likely an LV Bloomsbury PM, or a Chloe Small Heloise Hobo in Light Gray/Galet

- Larger Convertible bag (for shoulder or cross-body wear): A Chloe Paraty in some shade of red or a Coach Parker Hippie in Black..or both, since the Coach is so well-priced. :p

I have to admit that I am a bit nervous about having such a Chloe-heavy collection - do you think it's a bad idea to do this?

I guess I am scared that one day I might just wake up and hate the sight of all things Chloe and be outta luck.

So glad I stumble onto this thread! I weed my bags out regularly but I'm really going for it this month. I don't like having unused items and I try not to be too sentimental but at times, you pull out a bag, remember why you like it, and think you'll use it again SOME day.

This might sound odd, but I am really learning to pay close attention to the feeling I get about something. It's either 'Oh my god, I want it and have to get/wear it now' or it's 'I like it, I can see myself using it, I should get/keep it.' If I have even remote hesitation, I know that I'll always reach past it.

So, now, I'm selling a handful in order to keep my collection streamlined and special.

Hey there! ;)

I don't think that the feeling you describe is odd at all - in fact, I would call it wonderfully sane! Being self-aware is priceless, and it sounds like you are well on your way to a fantastic collection. I am taking mental notes, because I can always use more help...

Just checking in here ladies! Great progress everyone!

Lo, your collection is stunning now....we need to see a group shot!

I have been selling like mad and have 2-3 more to sell and then I am pretty happy. I still have WAY too many bags, but at least they all fit in my closet now. I think the next stage for me is getting my whole collection down to 10-15 bags. I have whittled down my RM and Treesje collection substantially but I still have quite a few HH, LP, BE and Tanos. Most of these I got for great deals and truly love so I can't let go of them yet. It still feels good to be partially there though. TBH, the RM's were overwhelming everything else and it just feels good to be rid of some of them.

lo I think you should buy what you like and not worry about having too many or too little of one brand. If you like Chloes and you feel that they are timeless classics you'll probably still like them down the road. Especially if the quality is good and they hold up well. If there was no such thing as a "brand" and all the bags were made by one company, I wonder if we would be buying the bags we do, are we buying them because of brand or because we happen to love them? Just a thought............

Thank you! I may have failed to mention that it's quite a physical sensation - you know, sort of adrenaline-like when I see or use something that I truly love. Otherwise, I find myself ticking off a mental list of why I should purchase or keep an item. These days, as soon as that list starts, I know it's not worth acquiring or keeping. Seems like emotion successfully triumphs rationale in this case. I want everything in my closet to make me feel like this:
