Thank you! I may have failed to mention that it's quite a physical sensation - you know, sort of adrenaline-like when I see or use something that I truly love. Otherwise, I find myself ticking off a mental list of why I should purchase or keep an item. These days, as soon as that list starts, I know it's not worth acquiring or keeping. Seems like emotion successfully triumphs rationale in this case. I want everything in my closet to make me feel like this:
Well said, I love that! I want every bag I own to ellicit this--"I can't believe I actually own this bag!!" feeling. It should be special, I know that sounds lame but if I have to lug all this stuff around every day in a bag, I think I should really love the bag!

lo I think you should buy what you like and not worry about having too many or too little of one brand. If you like Chloes and you feel that they are timeless classics you'll probably still like them down the road. Especially if the quality is good and they hold up well. If there was no such thing as a "brand" and all the bags were made by one company, I wonder if we would be buying the bags we do, are we buying them because of brand or because we happen to love them? Just a thought............

Excellent, excellent point! Thanks for giving me something to think about. I went out tonight and check out the LV Bloomsbury in person and I have to say that it is perfect in so many ways - lightweight, incredibly sturdy, and the ideal size. It fits me like a glove. After trying it on I wanted to walk around for a bit and think about it some more, but the store was closing - so I decided not to buy it right then and there. I also tried on a Coach bag that's the same dimensions and shape as last year's Coach Parker Hippie (which I can still get on an auction site). The bag is wonderful, and costs much less. I also went and revisited the Chloe bags...

I am stuck.

Just checking in here ladies! Great progress everyone!

Lo, your collection is stunning now....we need to see a group shot!

I have been selling like mad and have 2-3 more to sell and then I am pretty happy. I still have WAY too many bags, but at least they all fit in my closet now. I think the next stage for me is getting my whole collection down to 10-15 bags. I have whittled down my RM and Treesje collection substantially but I still have quite a few HH, LP, BE and Tanos. Most of these I got for great deals and truly love so I can't let go of them yet. It still feels good to be partially there though. TBH, the RM's were overwhelming everything else and it just feels good to be rid of some of them.

Will do! A group shot will come tomorrow if possible. ;)

And I am very excited for you - congrats on all of your sales!!! And I think that your overall game plan is excellent. It's getting easier, isn't it?

ITA!! You should always get what makes you happy... and to be honest, despite all the Chloes, it's still very diverse in styles! At least there aren't a million pushlocks. LOL.

Cha-Ching!! I'm posting a reveal right now!

Lo, sorry that the See by Chloe didn't work out, but I'm glad you got it shipped quickly.... did you happen to take any pics of it? I'm curious to see it! I've seen some nice bags by that brand but have never pulled the trigger.

Just saw your reveal – it’s so pretty!!! I said I’d only get one bag this year, but I think I might already take that back and get a bal a few months down the road. The leather just looks amazing.

Only trying to buy a couple this year is going to be really tough, especially after alllll the bags I bought last year. But the crazy/sad thing is that many of these bags have since been sold/are on the chopping block. The two I use the most I’ve been using pretty solidly for about 7 months straight now, so at least that’s something.

I’ve been really good for the past few months, but I ended up pulling the trigger on a bag and it should arrive on Monday! It’s not what I originally had in mind, nor what I had in mind after that, but I did a lot of research and thinking, and I’m happy with what I chose (hopefully even more so after I receive it!).

Stay tuned… ;)

I love watching the progression of this thread and it's posters! I have sold so much it isn't funny...some new ones have come to stay...and I know i will never be down to 5-10 bags...but I hope to keep it to the bags that fit in my closet and get used...not an overflow and things not getting used...

Can't wait to see what you got thedseer!

I think a lot of us go through this cycle.... after joining tpf, it's easy to find a million bags to love. after getting them in hand though, we start to find out what doesn't work for us. i'm glad to hear that you're at that point where you know what works and have gotten rid of the duds that don't. i know a lot of them are too beautiful to part with, but if it's not working, then it's better to let it find a new home.

I can't wait to see you new bag!! any hints??

Definitely consider a bal... I forgot how lightweight and easy to carry they are. they're wonderful!! the fun part, it takes a while to decide what style and what color to get. hopefully that will take months to decide!!

very true - i've got to realize that even though some are really pretty, they don't do me any good sitting on my shelf.

it's a bv, my first! simple and classic. barely used, and i got it for 45% off of retail! i'm 25 now, but i can see myself carrying it when i'm 85, and that makes me happy : )

i think i'd get a city or day with regular hardware. i like 07 violet and various reds, and bal has a lot of great neutrals too - it'll take me a while to decide, thank goodness!

Where's your reveal???? I wanna see!!!!

Here are some pics of the See by Chloe bag, it is quite large - def. a tote, and it fits over the shoulder. I am very impressed with the leather, color, and funky hardware details.

^ OMG, I totally remember that line!! I loved the zippers on these... they're soooo cool. The red is totally hot too. I don't recall this particular style, but I saw a bunch of others at NR a while back. I wasn't too familiar with the brand and the time and decided to go home and think about it.

So why did you pass? Not a comfortable style?

thedseer, congrats on the BV!! I can't believe you finally got it! Congrats!! I wanna see pics ASAP!!

Thanks! I figured that you would like the zippers - I really love them myself!

See by Chloe is the "younger" offspring of the Chloe brand - think what MbMJ is to MJ, but at a slightly higher price point. It is in fact comfortable and of great quality, but the shape is not what I need. If I weren't being so strict with myself about keeping a small collection, I would keep it!

Hi, can I ask you all for your opinion? I have a very nice leather bag from Coach that I have barely used because I really can't carry a shoulder bag that's on the heavy side. I have a bad neck/shoulder area. Anyway, this bag is super pretty and since I don't use it I want to give it to my little sister. She is coming into town soon and I'd like to know how you would approach it...she isn't into fashion and I don't want it to sound like "here's my old bag" you know? Would anyone here be insulted if someone gave you a bag they were not using?

I think that it sounds like a great idea! IMO, whether or not it could be offensive to offer the bag to your sis really depends on the condition of the bag - if it is in excellent condition, I say go for it.

I would just preface things by telling her that you have a bag that you love but can't use because of your back/shoulder issues...and it's so pretty that it made you think of her.

That's seems like a nice way of offering her a lovely gift while giving her a compliment at the same time. :smile1:

(I have a younger sis so I know what this is like). ;)
