oh no thedseer, a NPB? that's so frustrating. have you had any contact with the buyer yet, and has there been any explanation?

I only sell on Bonz, so it was a Bonz offer – I’ve had a few NPB on there now – I think all from new members with zero feedback, so I’m becoming wary of them, though everyone has to start out that way.

Within the past month, I’ve had someone email me to ask if I would accept a certain price, which I did, and then no response ever again. Then within the past week or two I had someone submit an offer on a different item, I accepted and so it was removed from my booth, and then they never checked out, so the offer expired after a week. I had sent a message when I accepted, and then another one about 3 days later – both times thanked them, asked if they had any questions, told them I would ship within 2 days of receiving payment, etc. Never a response, item was relisted. Got another offer on another item from another new member this weekend which I accepted, same deal, they haven’t checked out yet. It will automatically relist on Sunday or Monday I think – but I’m still hoping that they’ll check out. Just now received another offer on a fourth item from another new member – I accepted, sent my normal note to the buyer. Here’s hoping this one checks out! Of course, I’ve also had paying buyers before too, so I know it’s possible. It’s just disappointing – I used to get so excited when I got an offer, but now, not so much. It’s been a long time since I’ve sold anything so I’m hoping my luck will change soon.

Actually, my luck does appear to be changing! For the offer I just accepted, the buyer paid right away – woohoo! Still hoping that other buyer checks out before Sunday so that item isn’t relisted.

I’ve also been thinking a lot about what my “big” purchase for the year will be. I sort of thought I had made my decision, but especially since sales are slow, I’m rethinking it/considering putting it off. I need to get around finally to getting a new laptop, I’ll be moving to a more expensive place this summer, and I am in a few weddings and am not totally sure how much that will put me back. I really, really like the color and the style I thought I had decided on, but I’ve waivered a bit on size of style and if I like the color and style together. I do also like the fall/winter BV stuff I’ve seen so far. So tentatively I think I will take a trip to a BV boutique soon to make sure I want to wait, and then probably in the short term just get a makeup bag in my chosen color since I need one anyway, and then hold off on the bag, which will be so so tough! I also spotted a knot I like, so I might even aim for knot + bag for 2010 depending on prices.

NagaJolokia I have about 6 or 7 Sharifs that I just can't part with. They are the vintage ones from about 13 or 15 years ago. They hold up so well. You can't get much from them but they are beautifully made and some of the designs are timeless. He used wonderful colors and leathers. I used to work for him many years ago and he gave me most of the ones that I still have. Sometimes if you post them on bonanzle with a couple of sought after brands they will get more exposure. I've had offers on a bag that isn't that popular just because I have a MJ in the mix as well. worth a shot. It just might take time to sell.

Wow, that's cool that you worked with him. All my Sharifs are from his more recent collections, just last year and the year before. It's a great point to list popular brand name items with the obscure ones. The last time I tempted to list a bag for sale was by itself, and I did not put my Chloe or Gustto up along with it. I should try that next time. Thanks for the suggestion!

Naga, I'm not familiar with those brands, but redskater made a good point about advertising with other brands.... Maybe also try finding a celebrity carrying the bag too. Keywords are definitely important. For example, with my love of electric blue, sometimes I search ebay for the simple term "blue handbag" hoping to find something that makes my heart patter.

Thanks! You guys brought up really good points.

^ Congrats!! That's the way to go.

Well, I'm glad to hear that buyer paid!! I had no idea that there were so many NPB on Bonz.... I have items listed, and questions here and there, but no follow throughs until today. Someone actually BIN'd and paid right away, amazing! I wish Bonz had a block feature though... It would be good to block those 0 bidders. I know they have to start somewhere, but hopefully nothing that costs over $100! I had a weird email last week too, someone put an offer in, but after I clicked on the email, there was no offer. Can people retract offers?

I think buying the cosmetic bag will be a smart idea... i was considering doing the same thing actually. Hopefully it will get us through until we can do our next big purchase! I hope you like the BV you've got your eye on... of course, a new laptop is super nice. I just got one for xmas, and it's great. Definitely one of my favorite purchases so far this year!!

There is a way to block 0 bidders on bonz! And yes, they and you can cancel offers/counteroffers at any time.

So I ended up relisting the item that hadn’t been paid for yet. Kind of hard to explain, but a few things made me suspicious of the buyer, so even if they ended up paying, I didn’t feel good about it. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but there were too many red flags. The other sale makes me happy though – sales have been really slow, but hopefully at the very least I can sell all that I want to before I move mid-summer. That would make moving sooo much easier.

Congrats on your sale, thithi! I definitely need to keep the laptop in my thoughts and push bag thoughts out of my mind for now. And hopefully the SLG purchase will help. I’ve been good for about 2 months now, and I want to stay good until I feel really, really good about my purchase decision.

I found it!! looks like I already set it for two or more feedback. Thank goodness! it's under the advanced options, buyer requirements.

thedseer, it sounds like it was a smart idea to relist.... sellers have to be super wary of customers these days... so many scams out there! hopefully your items will sell soon and you can put some money toward that well deserved bag and laptop!

I sold off a few of my bags to get the YSL Muse a few years ago. Best move I've made as far as purses go. Couldn't be happier. Now I'm slowly starting to build back up.

What a great purchase - very wise, IMO. I actually started this thread when I began to sell off my entire collection in order to fund some YSL as well, and I can tell you that it was well worth it. YSL is timeless!

Well...I posten in this thread a while ago, whilst contemplating selling some of my stuff in order to get my HG, but I guess I'll have to just accept that fact that I'm a serious bag addict...(just got yet another Prada...) Luckily my BF doesn't mind, he actually thinks it's kind of cute that this is the only behaviour I can't controll...

this thread is so helpful and inspiring. i have purged my collection and only have the following bags: LV mono neverfull gm, LV damier ebene speedy 30, and an MK black leather clutch. i am comtemplating purchasing the LV galliera azur pm or a prailine balenciaga but it is so hard to commit to any purchase after purging :P

You have a great collection! I think that the Speedy and the Neverfull are my two fave LVs - I actually bought a Neverfull myself a few months ago & loved it, but I returned it because I was in purge mode and couldn't commit to the purchase...just like you said, once you purge it's very difficult to start building up your collection again in some ways. I know that I am painfully aware of my purchases now.
