Ever purged your collection in pursuit of one bag? How did it go?

i'm excited for you! can't wait to see the ysl red bag you'll buy. i really like ysl (i only have one) - their price point not so much, but their bags are gorgeous and understated

i kinda have to agree about once you leave mid-price designers for premium there's not much leeway for going back! i sold all of my BE bags bar one (purple glossy lm mini) and replaced them with miu miu, bal and mulberry.

blivlien...you and I have both done/are in the process of doing some BE purging, it seems. (I am also keeping just one at the moment -- my Black Crash LM Midi). And I would love a Mulberry myself.

Right now I am leaning towards the red YSL Medium Easy bag...it's expensive, but I think that I can get several years of great use out of it!! I will for sure post multiple pics one I get it!!

Am also loving the LV Black Epi Speedy 30 and the Sofia Coppola collection...don't get me started! Would love to get the SC bag...but soooooo expensive.

I do think every woman should have an LV Neverfull. It is THE classic, easy shoulder tote and always looks good, is very light, folds into nothing in your suitcase... And, I do think the LV Neverfull doesn't count as a handbag. It is a must have ecological tote! lol

I am dying to see your first YSL!! I think that I am going to go for something simple and black first, and then shortly thereafter go for the RED!!!

Next will likely be the Neverfull, and I am asking for a small Longchamp fpr my birthday. Phew. Exciting!!!

I was in the same boat, I had a closet full of bags that I never used and dreaming of an LV Damier ebene Speedy 30. So I purged my collection and sold 2 MK, 2 Coach, and 2 tokidoki bags on craiglist. I made enough money to get my speedy in a week! It was the greatest feeling ever! Now since I got rid of these bags, I am going to be pickier on my bag purchases. I mean why buy a bag just to have it when I can save up and buy a bag that I have been lusting for. Trevi here I come. lol

You are inspiring me. So far I have sold enough to get one of the YSLs that I am after (and I found it on sale, no less), and then in a few weeks I can get another one. I think that you are definitely on the right track, and I hope that you can get your gorgeous Trevi soon!!

So purging and selling...justifying the ones I have and am keeping...it will be a longer process for me, and I will end up with more bags then your ultimate...

But at least you have me thinking...

And 3 bags are going into a new home to be worn and loved versus hoarded in my closet in a bag...

ive read this etire thread now, how exciting - like a little miniseries!
I did the exact same thing this fall as i had about 30 LV monograms sitting in my closet after 18 years of the LV-bug - at the same time i rid myself of the occational gucci and prada as well.
I sold ALL.... and got 10 new ones, a few direct from LV, a few pre-loved... And now i know every bag i have and plan to keep it that way. It had gotten so "bad" in my closet there would be times where i'd stumble upon a bag or two i forgot i even had.

Feels great to have an overview, it feels a bit "lighter" on my shoulders, too!

Can't wait to follow this journey further!

And I am sorry about the DH seeing your PP account. When I used to have some Bals I was vigilant about keeing the price tags (which I kept) away from my SO, lol!!

(It's all about survival, ya know????)

Keep what you truly love and use, and send the rest away to someone else who will treasure your bag(s). I love hearing from people who get my pre-loved bags and are enjoying them!!!
