This is a great thread! I am not one that needs alot of bags, just a little variety and I now have some great bags that get used and are loved.

Large Nero Tournaboni Veneta - BV
Elephant Cervo Hobo - BV
Montaigne in Crimson - BV LOVE THIS RED!!!
Copper Ossidato evening bag - BV
Old Ball bag in Ebano - BV
Purple Mulberry Ledbury
Soon to have a Tod's G-Bag in denim blue - a perfect bad weather bag


The only bag on my wishlist is a Cabat later on or a Maxi Veneta in a lighter brown, maybe truffle.

Lo I think you are very brave to take a chance and sell your beloved bags to venture into new territory (YSL!)!! I often sell bags I don't LOVE and think that perhaps I should follow your direction and focus on CLASSIC bags that I totally LOVE as opposed to having 5 so-so bags (if you know what I mean). Deep down, I am a one bag girl, until I found TPF, I would buy one bag per year or so and use the heck out of it. So now after reading through this thread, I have some thinking to do....maybe I have a LV in my future...!!

p.s. I hope you will still pop into the RM and Treesje subforums!! I love reading your threads!

Late to this party! I LOVE downscaling...as you know, I'm always trying to have the perfect 5 handbags...as my friend Chaz has three handbags. And I too am loving YSL, especially the roady flap in red. So...I'll be following your journey Loquita.

I gave my daughter some handbags...and my collection is getting smaller by the day.

I have a new philosophy. I don't have a wishlist. When I bump into the right red handbag, I will get it. I want magic.

TG, I have seen you post before about limiting your collection only to your true loves...I am with you in that department!

And the roady flap in red? = Sheer gorgeousness!!

I am also on a quest for a red bag that "speaks" to me...and so far, all of the contenders are from YSL!! :lawl:

I am excited to see how it all pans out for you. Please keep me posted!!

jx, I think that you DO have an LV in your future!! (And I certainly hope that I have one in mine as well, lol...can you say Neverfull MM or (if I hit the lottery) Mahina XS? :drool:

So I say go for it!!! :yahoo:

And I will def. still be popping in on the Treesje and RM subforums, even I am not buying the bags as much -- because I just really adore the people who hang out there. :heart:

Hee hee, sgw, it's the only LV mono that I like, too!! (Except for the SLGs...I have a mini round mono coin purse and I adore it, plus the wallets are excellent).

That said, have you ever looked at the LV black XS Mahina? I am in lurve with that bag, but would have to win the lottery to fund it:

i'm excited for you! can't wait to see the ysl red bag you'll buy. i really like ysl (i only have one) - their price point not so much, but their bags are gorgeous and understated :)

i kinda have to agree about once you leave mid-price designers for premium there's not much leeway for going back! i sold all of my BE bags bar one (purple glossy lm mini) and replaced them with miu miu, bal and mulberry.

Loquita...we have a bit of the same taste:
Love the red YSL roady flap
Love the LV black mahina XS
Am also loving the LV Black Epi Speedy 30 and the Sofia Coppola collection...don't get me started! Would love to get the SC bag...but soooooo expensive.

I do think every woman should have an LV Neverfull. It is THE classic, easy shoulder tote and always looks good, is very light, folds into nothing in your suitcase... And, I do think the LV Neverfull doesn't count as a handbag. It is a must have ecological tote! lol

I was in the same boat, I had a closet full of bags that I never used and dreaming of an LV Damier ebene Speedy 30. So I purged my collection and sold 2 MK, 2 Coach, and 2 tokidoki bags on craiglist. I made enough money to get my speedy in a week! It was the greatest feeling ever! :) Now since I got rid of these bags, I am going to be pickier on my bag purchases. I mean why buy a bag just to have it when I can save up and buy a bag that I have been lusting for. Trevi here I come. lol
