Ever purged your collection in pursuit of one bag? How did it go?

I am currently working my way through selling jewellery and watches, clothes and then handbags to have a collection of things I love and will enjoy the wear out of.

So many of my purchases have been impulses and I didn't give much thought to them. The only thing recently I did give thought to was a rainy day bag made out of felt that I purchased from a small boutique and I have used this bag more than any other.

I am planning to do two things in the New Year, make less purchases but more thoughtful ones and cull my collection.

You have inspired me to have a go although it will be extremely hard for a hoarder to have a clear out!!

You know Loquita, I think you are an inspiration to us all! I now only want fine craftsmanship bags and am going to seriously consider putting all my main stream bags up for sale!

Eeek, does that mean newly acquired Treesjes are on the chopping block too?

Even if that's the case, more power to you Lo! You've obviously put a lot of thought into your decision. Purging is good for the soul even in the handbag world and I know it will make you love your new YSL even more. I'm excited for you hon!:yahoo:

Good for your Bgaholic! I'm rooting for all of you who are inspired to do this. It makes so much more sense to have less but more loved bags than a whole closet full of unused bags. I cannot even imagine having 30 plus bags (I know there are some of us that have way more than that). I would be so confused about which one I would use. I know there are a lot of 'collectors' out there though. I'm not really a collector because I never have more than 10 bags at one time and none of my friends are into bags as much as me so I always feel like I have way too many bags to begin with.

Thanks so much, nyc_besos, Irene1, shopaholic1987!!! You are making me feel ever better about my decision (and trust me, I am feeling great about it!!!)

Like I stated earlier, you have my word that I will keep you all posted on my journey...O shipped out some items today and sold another one just now, and it feels fantastic!!

I have to admit though that the new Gryson and Treesje shipment on BlueFly are sorely tempting me...:sweatdrop:

But then I envision my new Muse or Roady and the itch disappears.

:yahoo: Do it!! Do it!! Do it!!! We can help each other through the process...and just what are your goals? :graucho:

(A bag lover's gotta have a GOAL, you know). :p

You know, I thought about it very looooong and very hard but in the end I just packed everything up and returned it. I ADORE Treesje, they are my favorite mid-level designers for sure, but at the moment I need to focus on the two bags I have in mind. This however does not mean that I won't be buying some Treesje in the future, however. :graucho:

And I really like that subforum!

PS: I did however keep the Stone Shine Poppy Ruffles Case for my mom's Christmas gift. She absolutely LOVED it!!! I was so happy.

How right you are Loquita!! I've got my eye on two prizes!
1. BV large nero Veneta and
2. Tods D Baulleto bag. (I think I spelled it wrong!) If I buy both at once, I will have to declare bankruptcy!! LOL so it will be #1 for now. :sweatdrop:

:lawl:

I am so feeling you on the need to declare bankrupcy if I buy BOTH of my HGs at the same time!!! (I may just space them apart a month or so).

But seriously...if you get the BV, you will be content for a good long while, as it is one astoundingly chic bag.

You go girl! It's definitely worth it, I think... I did the same thing to fund my first designer bag and, whilst it's a slippery slope, ("what do you mean I can't sell the fridge for handbags?!") it's well worth the happiness at the end!

Thanks, chikapinku!!! :smile1:

I am so excited about this new direction in my "bag life," so to speak:p, and agree with you that it could be a slippery slope. It is going to require considerable discipline on my part, but I sense that the need to buy groceries occassionally and pay the mortgage may keep me in line.

(Maybe).

Hi Lo, my dear, if you have only a few bags, you'll have to take multiple fabulous pictures of your few lovelies to make up for those multiple reveals with your great photos! LOL!

Kidding aside (except for the great photos, they are really fabulous!!), I worship you for really taking the plunge and listing a lot of your bags (I was shocked when I saw a certain purple bag for sale and then in the seller's list a boatload of other fab bags!) to fund classic but pricey bags instead.

I previously have not had that discipline to only have a few beautiful pieces instead of stuff everywhere and I will come back here to read (and re-read!!) about your journey!
Good for you, my dear!
