I just keep coming back tothis thread because it is so much fun! I love the idea of just a few great bags. I am still at that point in my life where I need several different styles ( work satchel, various crossbody styles for going out with kids, etc. I don't have very many bags and they are midlevel to be sure, but you have inspired me to see if I can further simplify what I own and get more out of each one.

I think that I might have some good news for you all later on tonight...

I have sold a bag to fund another purchase. Right now i'm actually in the process of selling a few bags to fund my ultimate HG! I only sell my bags when I fall out of love with them. Once I find that i'm not using them much or that I don't like them anymore then I will sell it to fund something else. I never purchase any of my bags with the intention of selling. I used to think that I would keep all my bags but in the end I started selling some simply because I cannot afford to keep bags sitting in the closet. I'm still a student so paying my bills has to come before my bag obsession! :p

Yay, TM!! :yahoo:

This means a lot to me coming from you.

And I am keeping my RM 3-Zip black Haze Rocker as a crossbody, and maybe the RM Black Stonewash special order Mini Beloved that's coming in January...or February...or March..with that company, who knows?

Hobos and cross-bodies just can't be beat, for my lifestyle at least.

I also love satchels, but if they are hand-held only I can't do them. This might sound crazy but I think of exclusively hand-held satchels (at any price point!) as true "luxury" bags -- in that you can only use one if you have the luxury of not needing every available limb to haul around all of the stuff you need as you scamper from place to place during the day.

Needless to say, since I am always running around like a chicken with my head cut off, I have ruled out acquiring any hand held-only satchels in the near future.

(Don't know how I went off on this tangent...sorry). ;)

Thanks so much to Charmed for helping making the purchase of my first YSL possible!!!
:hugs:

It's the medium black zip hobo that I have been stalking...got it for about 50% off, NWT!!!

It has everything that I adore most in a bag: lush, black pebbled leather, brass HW, suede lining, the perfect medium size, a generous shoulder drop...

Need I say more???? It should be here by the end of the week. You will be sick of looking at it by the time I get done. :lawl:

I can't recall ever being so excited for a bag. :yahoo:

You are a smart woman!!! (And a smart student, it woud appear).

ITA with your philosophy.

Thank you. At first it was hard....When I was taking pictures of them I would try them on and reconsider but then I thought how much better I'd look with the LV. :graucho: How exciting about your bags!I cant wait to see the pics. Although that might not be a good idea bc I might become a YSL follower. So far I have stayed away from other forums except for LV, which hasnt helped my love for bags. Isnt it the greatest feeling after you buy a bag you've been lusting for!:love:I hope I get my Trevi but it def is going to be awhile.

Well, I strated listing bags and clothing I no longer needed and skincare that I hadn't even used.

I started listing a bag I use regularly and I couln't bring myself to keep the listing open for more than 1 hour.

I regretted it. I bought a premium designer bag at full price, couldn't bring myself to use it because it was so darned expensive and then I ended up selling it for over a $500 loss. I am a mid price range designer lover. I like to buy them on sale too, so that I don't end up taking big losses and can have a nice variety of choices to carry. That's just me and my preferences. I say you should do what makes you happy. ;)

I think I am a midrange purchaser aswell, but one thing I have taken from your thread Loquita, is that I can get by with just 3 bags I have in my collection and if I want to I can manage to save up before I rush out and buy something rather than max the credit card to pay off later.

I can see the YSL is going to make you very happy, so definately go for it. Can't wait to see the bags you do decided to get and also the ones you decided to keep. The dream bag is within reach!!:yahoo:

aww I totally understand, the bags I listed I will miss a little bit but I really like my new LVs better! It was also easier to part with them because I kept two similar ones. Maybe when you had enough of them, you can try relisting them. :D

lo, did you post the pictures? hehe

I'm so happy that your YSL bag is on its way to you, Loquita! I can't wait to see pics!

Like TejasMama, I keep coming back to this thread, because it has been a gentle, inspirational nudge (okay, elbow in the gut) towards reminding me that my collection has become too excessive for my current needs. I've started the process of purging the bags that I no longer love/carrry, and already, just by taking action (baby steps!), I feel lighter! Thanks again for posing your original question--you rock!
