Ever purged your collection in pursuit of one bag? How did it go?

I have 5 bags and find that way to many for me to cope with. I'd like to get down to 3 - maybe I should trade in a couple of Bals for a Chanel jumbo flap....this thread has got me thinking...

No kidding...what is up with THAT????

I mean, I don't tell my man that he needs to limit himself to 5 pairs of shoes or anything!!!

(And I promise you that he doesn't realize it but I have counted and he likely has more shoes than I do).

I am going to have to save a while for the final bag in my 3 bag collection (though I may buy #2 tomorrow, we'll see ), so we can go into "save mode" together.

Because I will have a Medium YSL Easy Bag, people. Mark my words!!

Loquita, woody, "triplets" add my hubby too. In fact, want to pee in your pants? Every time he comes into this room (where I'm on the computer), I immediately hide the box. To this day he does not realise I am on this forum. The other day he said to me: "You know, I notice you're spending a lot of time on the computer lately." Duh!! I can't bring myself to letting him know that I am not only bag obsessed, but I am on this terrific forum as well! He has no idea how many bags I have. I never counted but I don't have more than five not including formal. Four to five every day bags keeps me very contented. More than that I doubt I would wear them evenly or appreciate each one individually.

Last I read, you were torn between the patent Downtown and the Roady, right? Hmmm....that's a tough choice!! I say you can't go wrong with either-so I'm no help! Charmed was kind enough to PM me to let me know that someone had put their NWT Black Zip Hobo up on *bay...so I contacted the seller and asked if she would let me BIN it (I offered her $850 above the opening bid, which seemed reasonable) and she kindly agreed. I didn't get it at the crazy awesome Nordie's or Saks super sale price, but it was still 50% off, which thrills me.

It shipped out to me this morning!!!!! Since it's coming Priority Mail from NYC, it should reach me tomorrow or Saturday. I am counting the nanoseconds with bated breath, lol.

Pfers are so awesome. I'm glad that fate somehow showed you the way to your new zippy!! I can't wait to see pics of your new baby. Incidentally, I managed to find my first YSL and just closed the deal. We'll be YSL newbies together!!

Today I finally decided against the patent Downtown, because a PFer whose advice I trust told me that it is not necessarily the world's most comfortable bag. Now I am deciding between the small patent red Easy, the medium red leather Easy, and a large red patent Muse.

Loquito, I can't wait to see your purchases. I have decided to stick to mid range designers as I think I would be scared to use anything dearer. But you have still inspired me to have less bags.

I'm glad you found the bag you wanted!

It's good to see other people here who are interested in maintaining a smaller number of bags. I see so many women on tPF constantly buying bags and admitting that many of them are just sitting in dustbags unused with tags still attached. That is such a waste of money.

I remember going overboard when I first got into bags in 2007. I started with Coach and got caught up in the cycle of checking the outlet for bargains and buying/returning. Luckily, I got out of that cycle after a few months when I realized that I was returning most of the stuff because I really didn't care for the styles. My first lesson - don't buy something just because it appears to be a bargain. After a brief run with LP (too casual for me), I tried BE and RM in early 2008 and found bags that were perfect for me. Since I want to use the bags I have over and over again, I certainly don't want to keep buying new bags. Less than 10 works for me!

Loquita - It's great to get to a point where you really enjoy and use all of the bags that you have. It sounds like you're one step closer to that point!

Ohh I love the Easy because it reminds me of the LV Speedy; an easy to use, roomy, carefree bag. Plus, it's less pricey than the Muse. Is there a big difference between the small and medium? Can it be worn on the shoulder (I assume)? Even better!

The Easy looks like a more versatile shape than the Muse does. Personally, I find myself drawn to the Muse because the shape reminds me of the LV Alma, which I love. And I agree with Antonia, the Easy is Speedy-esque!

I'd go for the medium red leather, because there's nothing nicer than the feel of soft leather under your fingers!

And shopaholic, you may get to see some of my purchases more quickly than you anticipated...I bought another bag on my list today (mind you, I am paying cash for everything).

But I am contemplating switching it for one of the other bags on my list...which just popped up on *bay at a good price. ush:

(I literally just saw it right not after I came home from buying bag #2). I'll explain in a sec, because I would truly appreciate anyone's input.
