Thanks, thedseer!! Yes, you should take a look at Chloe - this style i particular is right up your alley, if you like the MAM. It is lighter, and very durable with excellent leather. It is no longer produced but on auction sites and in consignment shops. It also comes in two sizes: large (which is like luggage) and medium (which is what I bought and recommend).

I know that you like Mulberry as well - if it helps, I tend to think of Chloe's designs during the Phoebe Philo period (when the Edith, Betty, and Paddington were initially designed) as being very British like Mulberry, in that they are study and well constructed. However, the Philo designs are a bit naughtier than Mulberry's classics, if that makes any sense. I  this!

haha, that makes sense. i've done a little looking, and i think i like betty the best. i'll have to do a little more research (and a little more selling).

This is very true...I had it in my mind to list a couple of bags last night...but when I got them out...I could not do it...I still like them...so now either I will wear them, or if I don't in a couple of months, they will go...it was a nice realization to come to that I actually love most of the bags I have now...
i like to call this condition, "bag separation anxiety"

I lurve the Betty..mine is a small one (despite my initial belief that it was a medium-sized Betty). It is a seriously cool design. I would love a medium one as well!

I still have the Mulberry Roxanne on the brain as well. One other thing that Mulberrys and Chloes have in common = they are mostly on the heavy side. (Doesn't really bug me, but for some it's a deal breaker).

I love the pictures of the girls modeling their Roxannes in the catwalk thread in the Mulberry forum. That bag is so tempting.

Tell me, Loquita, why did you cross the Bayswater off your dream list? A Bays has long been my dream bag although, alas, the water-spotting tendency of the oak Darwin leather makes it highly unsuitable for my rain-drenched life. I find some solace in a couple of vintage Coach British tan bags which don't seem to mind getting wet.

It has long been a fantasy of mine to clean out my entire jammed closet full of bags and use the proceeds to buy one bag--a Bays!--thereby simplifying my life and living my ultimate bag fantasy. But the thing is I really do enjoy all my bags, from the rumpled Target pleather bags to the faded LL.Bean canvas satchels, from the Fossil stabbed full of political buttons to the elegant Treesjes swathed in silk scarves, and I think I find more fun in them than I would one elegantly simple bag. So I live in my astounding clutter and enjoy your message string vicariously. :D

this the thing that is keeping me from buying a Heloise, I just love this bag, but it's a bit heavy, but if it had a strap I'd be able to handle the weight better. oh well, it's only taken me a couple of years on tpf to figure out what works for me!

Your post kills me!!! :lawl:

To be honest, neither the Bays nor the Roxanne is completely off of my list...you see, I keep two lists: one very long list that I keep on my computer in a file, and the public list in my tPF signature - the tPF list changes constantly (I have come to terms with my ever-changing mind), but the other one is more stable. They generally overlap a lot.

And I think it's very cool that you have decided what works for you - your bag collection sounds like it really makes you happy and works with your lifestyle - and that's the whole point! :D

The Heloise does have a strap...and it's gorgeous (though from what I have learned on the Chloe sf, the classic Helosie is the one Chloe bag that is currently problematic in terms of QC). There are several versions of the Heloise, though, from hobos to satchels to a very small Heloise style, so I bet that you could find one that works for you. :graucho:

I personally think it's beautiful, especially the braided strap with the intertwined brass rings.

I don't think I will ever be a one bag person, like my mom, but I do like the amount I own to be small and managable. Other than one bag that I am not crazy about, the rest I really love and would have a hard time saying one was the one I want to carry every day. Still I like the idea of owning just one fabulous bag that's like your trademark. My Mom has been carrying the same LV forever :)

thanks for the info Lo I'll have to research it some more. I knew there were a few styles, didn't see one with the shoulder strap.

You took the words out of my mouth, sister! :p

I'm kind of getting tired of selling stuff, even though I still have a bit of way to go. Anyone else feeling a bit weary?
*raises hand*

I didn't list anything this week, and felt strange about it because there weren't any questions from buyers. I'm so use to answering those now.

I think I might list a couple tonight.... depends on how productive I feel!

MEEEEEEEE!!!!

In fact, I am so tired of it that I took my final bag - a NWT Belen Echandia - and I sent it to an online consignment store. I did the math and with the resale prices for brand new BEs on Bonanzle (which is where they sell the most), I figured that even allowing for the consignment store's percentage of the sale I would still do better selling it that way that by myself. And being very sick of selling my bags helped nudge me in that direction as well. ;)

Kimmi, I agree - there is some very chic about having one great bag be your trademark...although I def. don't see myself as a one-bag woman, either!!!

You're welcome! The best part of the Heloise is actually the strap - it's incredibly beautiful and unique. Be sure to ask around about the strap in the Chloe sf, though, because I have heard some rumblings about it in terms of QC. I am not as familiar with that style, so I don't want to steer you wrong. ;)
