Ever purged your collection in pursuit of one bag? How did it go?

I have to say, the selling is getting easier and easier! It's not nearly as painful as I thought it would be and it's so freeing to be able to see my collection more clearly now. I've been able to keep the buying in check too for the most part.

Good luck Lo! The paraty is my dream bag...I hope you get yours!

Thanks!! :hugs:

I was out fondling Chloes again tonight - I think I scared the poor saleswoman in Nordie's, in fact.

I knew waaaaay more about the bags than she did, but I acted like I didn't know anything so as not to make her feel weird. :p

Have you guys ever done that?

I am such.a.purse.geek.

A chloe edith?? woot woot!!

you've got my eyeing a black patent betty now....... enabler! lol.

Damn, you are so good at guessing, thithi!!

An Edith is indeed on the way...but not the one that you think. Muahahahahaha!!!!

And the black patent Betty is a thing of loveliness. I  that style!!!

Are you looking at a small, medium, or large? (The mediums are the most rare - I actually thought that I had bought one but it turned out to be a small, lol - which is fine by me - though I would also like a medium). It's such a tuff little bag.

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Fantastic news!!! And you are so right - it does get easier...and I also found that keeping my closet emptier helps me slow down on the buying in general.

I am really excited for you!!!

Nah. I just scare them.

It's funny, you get two responses when the SAs figure out exactly how much you know about this bag. They either get that glassy, "If I keep smiling, maybe she'll buy something" look. Or, they start questioning you - trying to extract information from you like that eager teacher's pet who annoyed you so much in grade school.

Oh, totally! I was returning a Treesje to Bloomies today and the SA knew nothing about the bag. Didn't even glance twice at it! I was almost offended. :wtf:

SO TRUE!!!!!!!

I have actually talked with SAs before (the ones who truly are into handbags - you can tell who they are) and given them websites addresses, etc., so that they can check out more stuff.. :p

See? I told you I am a bag geek.

I know - it annoys me as well. I mean, it's their job to know the merchandise, right? I have serious respect for well-informed SAs, regardless of the store. I have found that in many department stores (Saks and Nordie's, for example) the SAs often don't know basic information about a brand, like the proper names of colors, styles, etc.

Ahhhh.... I am looking at a Betty chain hobo... it has one chain strap, not the double leather straps. I had the medium Betty with the double straps a long time ago, and the straps didn't work for me. Too wide and wouldn't sit on the shoulder, kwim? But the chain strap hobo might actually work!

ITA about store SAs... I've been in the MJ boutique before and asked them about bags, and sometimes they don't know the color names or the bag names either. Once in a while you run into someone who knows their stuff, but it's very rare indeed. This discussion reminds me of Retail Hell, a book I read recently about a SA's experience in handbags. It was a funny book and interesting to read about the SAs perspective.

I remember a long time ago impressing the Kate Spade SA at the Georgetown boutique by knowing the style and shape name of all the bags I picked up. LOL!

I am selling off my stuff slowly but surely. We got hit by a big unexpected bill so all the selling really really helps all of a sudden!
