Ever purged your collection in pursuit of one bag? How did it go?

I've only purchased from small sellers on Etsy so I didn't think it would be a large practice on there. I'm not sure it's any different from buying a bag from a big designer that's made who-knows-where.

It's definitely something to consider for those who go all-out to ensure that they purchase fair trade (may their tribe increase).

novella dear,

I am going to answer your PM ASAP, 'cause I really do want us to chat about your collection goals and the chopping block!!! Muahahahaha...

And the Etsy store that you posted has super cute stuff!! I am eyeing the canvas messenger tote - think it's called the Beverly - the lining and colors are sweet.

BigPurseSue, thanks for the points you bring up. I try to keep those issues in mind when I buy. The more knowledge we have as consumers, the better.

I love Etsy! I got a fabulous clutch from this seller:

BigPurseSue, I don't think the profit margin is high enough on Etsy for a seller to have a factory produce most items. The sellers of handbags I see on Etsy have only one or two of each design, which tells me they most likely aren't doing the high-volume production that a factory operation would demand.

WOW!!!! I  this stuff - I am a Marimekko fan, so this shop really appeals to me. The cosmetics bags are so well detailed, and just $19, shipped.

This is one of the reasons why I love Etsy...you can get fantastic gifts there (plus throw in something for yourself, heh heh) and you are guaranteed to get something unique - and you know that your money is almost always going to go straight to the person who crafted and designed the item.

There is a large Chloe Paraty on ick-bay right now and just looking at it is throwing me into a tizzy...it's so close to the bag on my wishlist that I want the most. :push:

Fortunately, I am well aware that it is waaaay to big for me. Why oh why don't any medium brick Paratys ever show up?

Okay. Rant over.

^wow!! the color of that paraty is gooooooorgeous! size is relative... who says it's too big for you??? you wear the bag! the bag's not wearing you.... if you like it, go for it!

At the risk of being the downer here - how much would the size bug you?
Some people love huge bags - and I do think that people need at least one in their wardrobe - It's my alternative to the overnighter, and a briefcase - all rolled into one.

But I don't carry that bag every day - I carry it about 4-5 times a year. Do you really want a bag that you will carry that infrequently?

Yup! I hear you ladies - great advice, and I so appreciate it! :smile1:

Since the seller has a store, I contacted her last night and asked her if by any chance she would be listing the same bag in the small/medium size anytime soon...and she said that she would very likely be able to get one! She is checking for me now. :yahoo:

Wish me luck, because out of all of the bags on my wishlist, that is the one that I want the most, hands down.

I have played with many a Paraty in Nordie's, and always enjoyed every minute of it.

:graucho: This made me laugh Loquita!! But I am sending you luck that you are able to find one that you can bring home and add to your small cherished collection!!

:hugs: Hee hee, glad to bring some laughter into your life, Odeb!

(Only a fellow bag lover could understand my need to fondle random handbags in department stores, lol).
