Ever purged your collection in pursuit of one bag? How did it go?

I've been doing quite poorly with this whole purging business. I get a bunch of flakey buyers (I do C-list rather than Bonanzle and Ebay) who keep backing out, which is really pissing me off...

I do have two new interested parties in my items right now and I'm hoping they'll pull through, but I'm keeping my hopes low. And I'm irritated cause I mark my items to a price pretty much as low as I can go (like 70% off retail or something) and people still offer me 50% of the price I've listed. Why don't they just ask for it for free? Ugh. I know I know, they don't see the value in it as I do, and obviously no one asked me to pay so much for it in the first place...but still, it hurts my fragile little heart.

I know what you mean. My items sat for maybe two months before they finally sold. I hope with tax return season buying will pick up a bit. But it does feel very good to purge.

Lo, what's the latest update with you?? Still working towards the layaway?

I have been working on listing things...some sell...some have sat...but I have hopes all will sell, eventually....and then if they don't I will either donate, or just put them on the bay and let the auction god's have their way...

Granted...I have not been completely purchase free...but purchases have slowed down... A LOT!! ANd have been things I was lusting after....for a while...

You might want to start pricing your items higher, so that people can feel like they're getting a "bargain" if they get it for less than the posted price. KWIM?

I've been incredibly frustrated by the entire purging process - I have a Versace bag, and some Kieselstein-Cord items out for sale - and I've priced them at 70-80% off!
When I was expressing my frustration to my DM, she pretty much gave me the same advice doreen did - up my prices. She also suggested that I list a lot more items at a time.
It could be that 1) People don't believe that they are authentic, and 2) People don't realize what they originally sold for ($400 sunglasses, and the designer is barely known outside of New York)

So, still no luck - my own heart is feeling pretty much like yours, sexy, but I have hope. And, I'm warning anyone looking for a deal - the longer you wait, the more I'm upping my prices!

This is great in theory, but then you have to have buyers who can recognize a deal when they see one.

It's those wanting a "deal" on top of a good "deal" already that I have a problem with.

There's bargain....and then there's insult.

^^ I agree, everyone is in love with a bargain, whether it really is or not. I know I got sucked up into that mentality with a few of my bags, that's why I'm in the position I'm in now. The goal is not to go back to that behavior, might have to take a loss on some bags to get there.

Hey ladies! I sold 2 bags over the past week!! I'm excited and am going to list one more. I have to just try to be patient!

I DO love a bargain too so but I don't know if I could get away with relisting my bags on Bonz at a higher price. They have been there for a while...I'd like any feedback from someone who has done this--I am curious about the idea!!

I may start listing on (fee)bay though. We'll see!!

Yep! I am still working towards the layaway, and happy about that. I like the whole layaway system - it keeps me organized and it forces me to be very thoughtful about what I am buying. :smile1: As for sales, nothing this week - I still have one bag of mine to sell, and then one more that's listed on behalf of a friend.

I am soooo behind on this thread - I am going to read back a bit now. Today is the first chance I have had to breathe this week.

And Contessa, I couldn't agree with you more - there is bargain, and then there is insult. When I do a "best offer" listing on ick-bay, I feel like I get more of the latter than anything else, unfortunately.

Oooh Lo, very nice bag. I like that it's simple but edgy at the same time.

The selling part...I think we all have to be patient because things do eventually sell.

I am curious...what is considered an insulting offer? At what percentage off?
