Thanks Loquita! Would a hosptial have info on a local Hospice? I actually used Ann's 2 years ago for a bag and it went very smoothly. I know the bags I want to cut sell on ebay but I don't think they would go very fast on Ann's, plus I like the idea of a hospice benefitting.

Oh and congrats on your Edith! I have always loved that bag, I've seen it in person and it is timeless. I have a Paddy and, well for lack of a better way to say it, I beat up my poor bags a bit and that Paddy doesn't have a mark on it. Chloe leather is fabulous!

I like the idea of the Kindle too, but because I read a couple of books a week I quit buying them and now use the library. I save $$$ and space. I'd get a Kindle because of the ease, being able to adjust the size and you could always have a new book to read, but for me that would get costly. I do think they will go down in price, electronics always do. Too bad you can't access the library with it!

Check out the Sony Reader! You can check out e-books from the library on it.

It is my favorite of all the e-readers (I work in that industry so I have them all). It's smaller than a Kindle and IMO has sexier product design. It's very ipod like. You connect it to the computer to add books, but it's not a hassle and works just like iTunes.

It's also cheaper than a Kindle and it's made of high impact aluminum, not plastic.

Lo...cannot wait to see your new bags!! I love watching your wishlist change!! I have a bag haunting me at Ann's...and I figure if it is still there and in my mind in a few weeks, well, then it may just have to go on layaway...

But I am loving becoming more aware and mindful in my purchases...and getting rid of what does not work...

Love checking in on this thread...

thanks doreen! I will check it out, sounds like it might be a better alternative for me. I love saving money by using the library!

LO I fell in love with the Heloise this weekend. It might be the next bag for me if and when my others go to new homes. I was thinking of a muse but it just didn't grab me when I saw it irl, but that Chloe did. I'm kind of confused on all the different styles and sizes of it so researching the Heloise should keep me busy for the next couple of months. until something new grabs me. I too am having much more fun doing the research than actually buying the bag!

This thread is like the Energizer battery...it keeps going and going and going!! ;) Lo, I can't beleive you are getting that Edith! I was checking that very bag out myself....what a great deal! I see you're now a Chloe addict-lol. It's funny how that stuff happens. I'm currently a Botkier addict...although I don't have any right now, I absolutely love her new spring line!

I did sell my Balenciaga last month and put those funds on a Chanel expandable flap in Navy....of course I had to come up with some extra moolah to get it but it was well worth it! :)

I'm inspired by all the selling going on!

I have some Hermes scarves that need sold, but I can't motivate myself to get photos taken and get them listed. I'll have to set aside two hours to get that done so I can put them on the auction block.

DH has the e-reader, and I think he said you can access more books on the public domain than on a Kindle. I also think it's a nicer design :D

I am really loving this thread! I purge my bags all the time, but there never seems to be an end as the bags are coming in faster than they're going out :p

I had a closet full of bags that I rarely used (I travel a lot and can generally only take one or two with me). I sold off anything that I really never used or deemed "impractical" and bought a LV Mono Speedy 30. It was a worthwhile purchase ... sadly the whole experience created a monster. I went from loving coach and dooney to desiring LV and Belenciaga. I have never regretted the purchase though and if you asked me what I sold I don't think I could remember.

Thanks for the info doreen! what do you think about the reading comfort? is the screen similar to the kindle in that it mimics paper? I don't want a bright screen, and I need to be able to adjust the font.

Congrats on the Chanel Antonia!! I wish I had the discipline to save up for the Chanel, but I keep getting distracted by shoes. I'm currently loving some of the Botkier designs as well.

On a side note, none of the RMs I had listed this week sold. Garh!

Ok. I've had to adjust my purge a bit. I am now "trading" for items instead of just buying new items without getting rid of anything. I think it's a good step? I wasn't having a lot of luck selling my items for fair prices. While I understand that some people will not pay the same price I pay for many items, I've already priced things really low and definitely not the prices I paid or even close to retail. Any lower and I might as well just donate (but I really want the funds right now...).

So...now I am getting a new bag (I suck) BUT I am doing a partial trade, so I am getting rid of something else + paying cash to get it, which isn't SO bad, I guess? I'm just trying to rationalize my inability to purge...
You don't suck! Like Lo said, you're on your way to building a collection that you'll truly be happy with. It's good to move away from the bags that you've realized don't work for you any longer. Trading is definitely not a bad thing, esp since you're not paying for the bag outright. It's the first step to purging imo. Sorry to hear that you've been needing to price your bags so low, but your closet will be happy! Sometimes if they don't sell for the price you want, relist it at a later date. I've been able to sell things successfully that way at prices that are fair to me. Good luck, and again, congrats on taking the first step towards purging!

Yes, the screen is "liquid ink" like the Kindle's. No backlight, so it's easy to read. You can crank the font up by 5 levels (important to me since I have uncorrectable nearsightedness and cataracts to boot).

I'm curious to see Apple's tablet edition, but since it's not a dedicated e-reader I'm not sure it'll be a big splash in the market. Time will tell.

Sorry none of your RMs sold. What a bummer. I hope you'll keep them on tha auction block, though. I think in this economy it takes a long time for people to decide to purchase.

^ thanks doreen... I read some good info on the sony e-book a while back, and the price point seems reasonable compared to the kindle. Maybe I can find a good deal on it somehow, either with bing or on sale. The RMs are so disappointing... the other bags I had listed sold, just not the RMs... i feel like the RM market is definitely great for buyers but not for sellers. I'm going to keep them listed, but I don't have any expectations that they'll sell soon, and that's even at rock bottom prices.

Hang in there! I do think this will get better. I sold two RMs a couple of weeks ago through BINs. You may just want to wait for a bit. I think this is a tough time to sell anything.

The CES show had a number of announcements about ebook readers with other features, so it will be fun to see what comes out in the next year or two.

For those people who want to purge but are nervous, maybe start with some other things in your house first. It will get the ball rolling and when you see how good it feels, you might be ready to get rid of a few bags.

^It does feel good :) I donated three bags today to a children's charity. They were not very high end bags that would be worth the hassel for me to learn to sell and I am awfully impulsive, once I make a decision..well, those bags had to leave now. Anyway hopefully someone else will be happy with them. I still have one I would like to let go and one I am not sure about yet...for me it's important to absolutely LOVE and use each bag I have, otherwise that bag is taking up space and would make me guilty for maybe buying something else in the future.
