I don' t think that replacing multiple bags with a few better-made bags that you will enjoy and use more is a bad move in the least!! I am headed in that direction myself...I have gotten to the point where I would rather own 4-5 excellent bags and "savor" them for a good while instead of my usual handbag diet that's full of sugar and not much substance...if you know what I mean. :p

I guess I should also clarify that I am not against mid-range handbags at all - in fact, I have more experience with those than anything else, and I am certainly not looking to pay retail on any of the higher-end bags I purchase if I can at all avoid it. In fact, I have found that all three of the "premium" designer bags that I have purchased have cost me not that much more than a full-priced RM, in fact!!!!

If you think about it, in the long run we are actually saving money by purchasing wisely and avoiding the "buy/sell/buy" cycle. ;)

I'm so sorry but I cannot lie! The New Ball was made in Carmino red! :faint:

You can probably find it on FeeBay for a good price...when you're ready.


BTW all three of the BVs you've been talking about are the ones I have! I have a maxi veneta in cobalt, a Ball in baltic blue, and a cervo hobo in black. Can you tell I like blue? :p


ETA: I see you prefer the Classic Ball and Ball 3...those weren't made in carmino. The Ball 3 hasn't been made in red yet AFAIK. I'll have to think about which reds the Classic Ball was made in.

And I shouldn't say this, but you can always special order a BV & see if it gets approved.

I like that philosophy! 2 out and 1 in... for some who have a hard time purging this would be a good way to get started.

Sorry - I didn't mean to be confusing.

The bag I posted was a Campana.

The color is the Carmino red, which IMO the prettiest BV red.

BV has an outlet at Woodbury Commons - and a lot of the seasonal colors get sent there. (I used to wander through and wonder, "What were they thinking?") So if you are looking for a discontinued color, that's a decent place to start. (especially if they are having a sale!)

I always stop by the BV store at Woodbury when I'm up there and sometimes the colors in there are a little "what were they thinking?" The last time I was there, on new year's eve day they had great stuff though and they were having a sale, I really had to practice amazing self control. Ended up just buying a make-up bag in cervo, gotta have me some cervo! The prices at the outlet are not always so great if they're not on sale.

Regarding the red bag, red is very tricky for me and you really should try to see whatever red you decide on irl Lo. Has anyone seen Fever irl? I've only seen it online (have also been stalking it a bit) and some pics it just looks to orange/ neony for my taste. I think BV has made much better reds in the past. I can still kick myself, I was offered a maxi Veneta in the perfect red (can't remember the name now) at the 5th Ave store during last year's crazy sale and I passed on it. I already ordered the tea from Nordstrom over the phone (yeah the SA made a mistake, but you know Nordstrom and their great CS) and didn't want to spend more money. Of course I ended buying shoes and SLG's in the store, might as well have taken that red Veneta. Oh, the bag regrets I have!

"Thanks" for letting me know about the special order option, doreen (lol - I think), and I think after hearing what you say Janine Fever is coming off of the list. I have been looking carefully at the reference threads and have to say that I agree with Vintage Leather in that Carmine is more of what I am looking for. You all are so helpful!!!

I also LOVE the "2 bags out for every one in" philosophy - this is a GREAT way to start pruning!

I am a lover of big bags but the Maxi was just too big for me for everyday use. It would make a good travel bag, IMO. I don't know, some ladies love it but it's pretty darn big for a daily bag :yes:

The BV Belly is a great bag that is between the Large Veneta and Maxi Veneta size. I love the belly.

^thanks, good to know! i think i'll stick with the large then as i'm not really a big bag person. i am really intrigued by the belly though - it looks really gorgeous in the pictures and modeling shots i've seen.
