Ever purged your collection in pursuit of one bag? How did it go?

I agree, I think ferragamo is underrated as well... the quality seems amazing but i don't see them often so i'm not familiar with their bags. i'm always interested in new styles, so i'll check them out.

Lo, congrats on the betty!! I can't wait to hear what you think of it, and to see all your pics.

I've been good lately, I haven't bought a bag since my Easy and Natasha, but for some reason, my purging has led to me buying lots of CLs. I need to slow down! It's all the extra funds that are enabling me... I hardly wear heels, but I can't seem to get enough of the red soles.

Agreed! And The Sak crossbodies ARE great!! I really ike the Silverlake collection - I swear, some of those bags can give the mid-level designers on tPF a definite run for their money. :smile1:

And Janine dear, I will spill my guts: I bought a Chloe Betty (medium black). They are no longer made, and black ones in like-new condition like the one I found are very hard to find. It's a satchel shape (which I love), but with a shoulder strap that actually fits over the shoulder - which lets me have my cake and eat it too, heh heh. :graucho:

What's not to love? :yahoo:

The plan was always to have two black bags in different shapes, so mission accomplished. The black Mulberry Alexa is off the list - and I am perfectly okay with that!

Yay for the Chloe, :yahoo:gorgeous bag, and it's very different from your YSL, so it will serve a totally different purpose. Whenever I try to make my small collection list, I end up with at least a black hobo and a satchel, one black bag just won't do it. Remember to link your reveal here pretty please, I never go to the Chloe forum.

ITA, and let's agree that this thread is not for everyone on tPF. I have many friends who love acquiring bags and they don't mind having dozens or even hundreds of different bags.

Like I said a few pages ago, how we think about our bags is defined by our lifestyle, personality, and the objectives we have for our collection. For some people, less is more. This is the thread for them. :flowers:

I think this thread is also for people who are just generally dissatisfied with their collection for whatever reason and who need support to stay the course on whatever they decided their plan of action is.

I'm down to 20 bags now (btw I don't count throw-arounds and clutches). I have a list that will get me down to 15 for my forever collection and have given myself as much time as I need to get there. Also, on my list are the exact bags that have to go if I buy a particular bag from my dream list, this kinda made me realize how much I still love some of my current bags. For eg I really want a black maxi Veneta, but to get that my Kooba Ginger has to go. I love that bag and I already have a large Veneta in tea, so I'm finding I can live without that black Veneta for now.

And yeah, I have a huge spreadsheet for bag planning.

^i would agree with this. it may not have started off this way, but now i think it has morphed into a support group for people looking to downsize or to rethink their collections in any way.

Thank you Lo for creating this thread - it really is a great support group for those who have eventually learned to "Never Settle For An Good Enough Bag!"

Ferragamo is underrated - my problem is that I had a really bad experience with the SA at the Scottsdale store, and I haven't wanted to go back. So I trimmed back my Ferragamo bags dramatically after that experience.

I know, it's like the grown-up sister of my clutch.

I don't think the rolled handle will be a big problem, since it's a smallish bag I can't carry much in it. My Le Pliages have rolled handles and goodness knows I haul a lot in those totes.

I don't think there's a name for the style yet. There have been a few variations on the "triple charm" bag, as I call it, but it's only a couple of seasons old.

The metallic gave me pause, and I just wasn't wild about the silver. The other 2 colors aren't turning me on (black, and camel) so I'll wait for a better one. Not gonna settle!

Good for you - no settling!! I am going to get that tattooed on my forehead, in fact... :p

I am really liking that Ferragamo - I think it'd be stunning in a warm bronze shade with the faintest touch of metallic.

Thanks, thithi and Janine! I promise to post pics here and a link to the Chloe sf - if the Royal Mail is a good as it usually us, the bag should be here no later than the end of next week. :yahoo:

Lo - I see that you also have the BV Cervo in Fever on your wishlist now :graucho:

I did...and it's still on my mental list, perhaps to return to my siggy soon...I am not sure that I want to commit yet, though - but DAMN I so love the shape of that bag!!! The runway pics on the BV website floored me!!!

We have good taste, don't we? :p

You're so very welcome!! But the thread only works 'cause you all are so wickedly wonderful. :hugs:

haha, we do!

a bv will definitely be my first purging reward purchase - just gotta decide between the cervo (probably fever) and the large or maxi veneta in ebano. :p i've been pretty obsessively looking at modeling shots and stalking the bay.

Tell me about it! I am looking at the Ball Bag, too - but I love it in black, and I really can't get another black bag, lol. If I could find it in carmino or fever, though...THAT would be PERFECTION!!!!!!!

I always want the bags that are no longer in production. I am such a masochist. :noggin:

Okay, okay...........I felt bad the whole time the Burberry SA had me on hold checking on the two bags I was interested in!! I confess that TPF "helped" me go on that bag binge last year...but I have had the love of leather since 7th grade (35+ yrs ago!)...but I did have two out for one in policy for this year and I am, so far, abiding by it....Its just that the replacement bags are WAY on the more expensive side than what I have been doing...maybe thats the point....What really sucks, is that as soon as I ordered that lucious black knotted leather Burberry, I began to LUST, yes, LUST for that Tod's G-Bag Secchiello Medio in LEATHER!!!

I have convinced myself that ONE classic black tote and that G would more than makeup for ALL the other colors I have had...
