Fashion Mom...love your bags!!

Loquita...the red Bays is beautiful...so sorry to hear about your SO's father...certainly puts things in perspective...and if you and this bag are meant to be...another one will come around when you can keep it!!:hugs:

Loquita I am so sorry to hear about your SO's dad. It's sad that you'll have to give up your gorgeous red bag but you are so right - some things are much more important.
One thing I did learn from closet purging is that if I pass something up, there is always going to be another beautiful bag out there.

I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Lo, my prayers are with you and your SO. I do admire greatly that even as a handbag fashionista you've still got your priorities straight and that you know that the bag (or another beautiful bag) is always within reach. Same with you hip....you've been chanting that consistently and I appreciate your reminders!

You are keeping one or two in your recent acquisitions, tho, right?

Lo, you're making the right decision... the bag is a beauty, but it's more important to allocate that money to your family right now. I'm so sorry to hear about your SO's father. It must be devastating to hear that the cancer is now terminal. It's better to sell the bag off now and then when you're ready, you'll find another one down the line. Perhaps you can enjoy her for a few days?

Congrats on the new bag LO. I love all these stories they are so inspiring. I am not sure if I told my story. Maybe just bits and pieces. I purged and then binged a bit. It is hard. I do try to keep my collection under 10. I had approx 10 bags. I sold 2 Marc by Marcs because they were a little young for me. I also sold and LV bucket because I had 2 one damier, one mono (I sold the mono). In addition I sold a Gucci hobo.

I sold because I was not in love with these bags anymore. I felt like my style and taste has changed. So I decided to buy a LV batignolles, a Fendi patent leather dejour handbag. My first Fendi and I am in love. Lastly I bought a Burberry tote. I was went on vacation so the totes were really useful. I have examined everything and I am really happy EXCEPT... After chasing my 5 year old on the beach in CA when I was gone I have decided I need a good cross body hands free bag. I have 2 kids one 5 and one 2. After that I feel like my collection is complete. I do not want to sell anything I have, but it is still hard not to shop.

Thank you for sharing. It helps to know that it is possible for someone who binges to be able to get down to a few tried and true. This weekend, I wore a couple of bags...one I still am not really into at all, the other I decided to keep because it's a great messenger!

I've been MIA for a few with this thread and noticed a lot has been going on.

LO--sorry about your SO's father. As much as we obsess over bags and shoes, family and people we love are more important. They are what really matters in the end! Your decision to use funds from Bay to help out is admirable and truly kind hearted. Here is a virtual :hugs: for you and your family.

I have been going simply bonkers. I want, want, want and I know it is directly attributed to my emotions. I listed about 7 items last week and the only thing that sold on evilbay was a pair of boots. My handbags are moving pretty slow on there so I may try to sell purge through Bonanzle. I went to SAKS and returned a few pairs of shoes and boots... had 2nd thoughts on a pr of YSL and CD booties and brought them back home with me. Knowing me and my indecisive self, I will probably pack them up and return them anyways. Selling has been tougher than ever... but I am trying!! I have been using my Perfo LV Speedy and although it's a handheld, it's lightness is what draws me. Heavy bags hurt after 1 hour of carrying... but they look sooooo cool.. ok, I'm digressing.
Still in pursuit of my phenomenal (sp?) 5/6. There are a few items I'd like to own 1 day (in my siggy) and there are quite a few in my closet I no longer want to own...LOL, which I am going to relist. So that's where I'm at ladies.

^ Purging is tough. You are not alone. It was a stressful process for me. You want to make sure you don't loose money well, atleast not more than you are supposed to right? I didn't expect to get retail out of my bags, but that number you set you want. I totally understand. Anyway, I finally got through it and so will you. It is a great feeling to get that final payment and go shopping. Hang in there.

Good luck pquiles! I know how that process is... It's hard to resist the sales goggles when the prices are so good, but sometimes those fantastic deals aren't good for our wallets or our closets. At least you were able to return the two pairs of shoes despite your ebay sales. When things don't sale on ebay for me, I'll move them over to bonanzle and let them sit for a while, or else I'll relist on ebay later down the road. Sometimes the current timing is not good and a later relist ends up with a BIN. It just depends on the market I guess. Keep trying, I know you'll be able to sell those things off eventually.

wow, this thread is really something! i too have recently been rethinking my collection. i have several large gorgeous bags that i must admit are simply too big for my daily needs. plus, i am begining to see that they overwhelm my body frame. i appreciate seeing the postive reinforcement in this thread to focus on what truely works for you rather than chasing the next big thing.

Lo, i truely feel for you as i have been through this with my SO's father. my thoughts are with you. no material posession can match love and family.

Hi Lo....I've been away from this thread for a few days and was sad to read about your SO's father. My thoughts and prayers are with you. A bag is just a material object that can be replaced anytime, this is a no-brainer decision. Hang in there! :hugs:
