I think Goyard makes some very nice coated canvas styles...

Yeah I used to own a Fidji but that style wasn't for me and I'm not really a fan of the St. Louis either. I'd love to own one but I don't know there is a style that's me.

i think many brands also have coated canvas line eg gucci gg crystal, burberry, coach heritage previously. it just seems that LV is the most known for it? but strangely i've never heard about the bags lasting forever like LV or maybe i'm just not well-informed?

Oh yes, you should check out the vintage LV's in that subforum.

Hmm... I'll have to check out those other brands you've mentioned. I've never seen any coated canvas Coach. :thinkin: and usually D&B coated canvas are the "kiddie" prints.

I tend to forget what bags I even have since they're all stored in dustbags.

This is probably really OCD of me, but I printed out a contact sheet of pictures of my bags and hung it in my closet so I wouldn't forget what's in there. It helps when I go in to change a bag - I just take a look at that and figure out what I want to pull out instead of digging through dustbags for 15 minutes.

It also helped when it came down to deciding what needed to go because there were pics on there that just didn't thrill me anymore - those were the bags that are on the "to be sold" list.

I have to add, I think this is an amazing thread. It usually stays right there on page 1, so even if you're not ready for The Big Purge, it's always in your head. If it had disappeared onto page 3 or 4, I may not have gotten to the point of purging my closet. I've just kept popping back in here since the thread started, reading about how people were getting excited to sell bags. That helped a lot.

This is such a great idea! I would have to hide it from DH though.

I really like this thread! It is making me re-evaluate my choices. I don't think I am ready to get rid of a lot of bags but I am managing to talk myself into listing a few and sending a few off for consignment. Since I recently acquired my RM HG I have realized that I bought a lot of RM bags just because I couldn't find my HG and now that I've found it I am able to start letting a few bags go.

I don't think I could ever be happy with one bag but I could certainly be happier with less bags. When I first joined this forum, I was content with my Coach bags but I always said I wanted to get a LV. Well, a year later I still don't have one and am no closer to getting one. While I am happy I discovered new brands like RM and Mulberry, I feel like I need to get back on track to building a collection that is not mostly one brand but rather a representation of the brands I love and the bags from those brands that I will love and more importantly use.

Thanks for letting me ramble!

You and I are very similar klj! I tend to go for neutral bags too, rather than pops of color. I have the most grey, black, wine and purple bags. Why I need 30 bags in these colors is beyond me. I'm purging a bunch right now that I'm just not using. After that, I will take another good look at my collection and finally decide if I should go for my dream Bal or Chloe. I'm liking this idea more and more so I think it's just a matter of time before I decide to go for it. :p

I've always wanted alittle pop of color..at least a couple..I love wine for that reason..and always wanted a great dark teal bag..but haven't found the right teal blue yet. I love Tempete which is a great grey/blue in a Bal..but they seem hard to find. That would probably be all I would go for...for the color though..lol
Well keep us informed!..I'm interested in what you decide along the way and what choice you make down the road..:graucho:;)

Noooo! This is not OCD. This is BRILLIANT. I'm going to take some pics this weekend of my bags and print them out. I have a friend with a serious shoe addiction and she takes photos and puts them on the outside of the boxes, I don't know why it never occurred to me to do this for my bags.

This is such a great thread! I hope it doesn't die off!

I came here several months ago and really got into Lo's purge mode! But then I followed her to Balenciaga:cloud9:

So, while letting go of about a dozen Chanels I accumulated more Balenciagas!

I am trying to whittle my bag collection down a bit and then will be in the ban thread which is another motivating thread!

Where are you Loquita? You have done so well!

Love this and the ban thread – they are both so thought provoking.

I am considering myself done with purging bags, at least for now. I would like to trim a few more, but I’m feeling much lighter and happier. The only bag that I would like to add in the short term is a bal city in red (like 07 tomato). My total number (including purses, smaller evening bags, and SLGs) is 15. I think I could trim down 3-5 still. I also want to come up with a better way to store my bags.

I’ve looked into a few other designers lately that I’ve been intrigued by but have never taken the plunge, but I’m holding off because I just don’t want to end up in the same place I was earlier this year. It’s taken me months and months to get here. And the resale market for mid-range designers seems like it’s getting even worse.

Since I’m done with bags for now, I’m going to focus on clothes. I finally got organized in my new place this weekend. I have this awesome changing area in between my bathroom and bedroom that has a lot of hanging space and shelves. Now that my clothes are finally away, I think it’ll be easier to see what I use and don’t use, and what I can get rid of. I know there’s a minimalist somewhere inside of me!
