Well it definitely does get easier once you start. And strangely I find myself really questioning new purchases and it's easier to talk myself out of another bag. So right now I have 1 LV, 1 Dooney, 4 RM Mini Nikki's, and 2 L.A.M.B.s. I've also cut my RM MAC collection from 14 to 7. I'm hoping I can get it down a little further to 4 or 5.

Wow knas that is fantastic!! Keep it up --you're definitely right about it getting easier...

I just caught up on this thread and I've really taken the advice and tips to heart.

I'm proud to say that I sold quite a few NWT RMs that I never used or I decided weren't for me when they arrived. They all went to lovely ladies who really wanted them and are actually using these bags. I always go through a cycle of buying bags that just sit in my closet unused and then I sell them to buy more bags that I don't use. It was a neverending cycle for me and I really think about my purchases now.

I also keep track of my purchases with a Moleskine (love, love, love Moleskines!) so writing and seeing what I've been doing has been a real eye-opener for me. That reminds me that I should use another Moleskine to keep a food journal since I'm really trying to think about my long-term health. I digress.

I'm trying to save up for an HG so I've been going through my collection and selling what I don't use. I feel like it's kind of the end of an era, but I could use the money and the space. There's no point in any of us keeping anything that we don't use.

That is great novella!! Yep, keeping track of things by writing them down is a definite eye opener--it forces you take a look at how much you spend!! For me, it was such an eyeopener!

The ex jewelry I have is all 22k, some with stones, very lovely (I picked it out) but I haven't worn some of it in years. I really need to get on selling it (yet with gold prices going the way they have been I guess it hasn't been bad to hold off).:p

Knas, I'm curious how much the LV in your collection gets used? You sound like you're on the right track!

Vintage, can you sell the pieces on Ebay? Maybe in lots?

I listed a couple more things on Ebay last night- its a little exhausting dealing w/listing/buyers questions/etc. Stuff can be so emotional. Why do I feel guilty for listing a piece of jewelry that an ex-friend gave me? I never ever wore it even!

Thank god my DH doesn't care about things, here is a convo.
"Should I sell this on Ebay?"
"Yes"
"You didn't look at it!"
*looks* "Sell it"
"You don't mind you gave it to me."
*looks again* "I did?....Sell it."

As for my HG, I'm not sure about the Chanel 226, part of me thinks I've been lusting after this bag for years and part of me thinks its too much money. The problem with Chanel is the neverending price increases.

My goal is to sell enough things on Ebay to pay for the bag -- I should at the least get over 50% pretty easily. So I have the Chanel's return period to think this over.

Lee I am wondering if you have taken the 22kt gold to sell--In my area we have a pawn shop that pays pretty reasonably for gold. You might get more money for the heavier, sold gold items, unless they are name brand pieces...

I have a pair of diamond stud, princess cut earrings I'd love to sell, just not sure if it would be worth it!! If I had a daughter, I'd totally save them for her but alas, I have a boy...

Thanks Kimmi, that is true my mother in law has handed down a couple pieces of jewelry and it was a very nice gesture. It's funny, two mother in laws (long story, but I have 3 mother in laws..) have specifically told me NOT to buy jewelry because I'd be inheriting theirs. I am a very lucky girl!

i cut my mac collection from 18 to 12 ... slow and steady and not making any hastey decisions. i still want to go down more though.. i have way too many bags... i don't know why. but i do love the ones i have....
did you end up getting rid of your mini beloveds?

There is a place that you can ship gold to that often pays better than pawn shops for scrap gold - I can't remember the name but I posted it at some point on TPF. For the 22k that I have I'll probably try to resell to a middle eastern jewelry store that specializes in that sort of thing. I'm going to weigh it first to make sure they're giving me more than scrap value.

Ebay would be an option, but I don't think I want to deal with that. I do have a pair of Tiffany earrings in gold that I never wear that will probably end up on Ebay sometime soon. My DH gave them to me but he is oblivious and surely has forgotton that by now.

Jxwilliams, I wonder if there is a way the princess cut diamonds could be reset into a ring or pendant for you to wear? Mabye if you add a stone or two extra? The resale value on diamonds is hard to stomach. Lucky you with your mothers in law. Mine is sweet, but not a jewelry/handbag/clothing person! Lol.

My MIL wasn't a jewelry person at all, but she left me stocks and bonds so I really can't complain!

Today I picked up a few nylon travel bags for a trip I'm taking tomorrow. I'm not adding to my handbag collection so that's good.

Thanks!

It's the Mono Galliera PM... I've had it for around 2 years I think? It did get used sporadically. I would use it for a week straight and then not use it for a month or longer. One reason is because it's bigger than what I normally carry.... but it's so comfy and lightweight. Plus the longevity and durability of LV. Now that I've cut my collection down considerably, I use it much more often. As you can see in my sig, I plan on getting a Mon Monogram Speedy to accompany it after my wedding is over and finances are back to normal.

I used to have several LV's. A few Speedys, Soufflots (sp?) and pouchettes. I sold them when I got into RM.... I regret that.

I called Endless and am returning the Camel, but I'm actually undecided on the Black Cat. I just don't think I have it in me right now to continue and buy RM. So still thinking it over but I don't count it in my collection yet because I haven't taken the tags off and carried it.

i took the step and listed almost everything tonight, and already sold one! a few more to post later this week. if i'm about to sell all, i will be down to 4 RMs, 1 Bal, and 1 BV...and then 4 clutches/wristlet. i'm hoping the BV i'm after will pop up again on bluefly so i can use some of the money i make to buy that.

WHEW! next project will be clothes....

i love nylon bags! i bought 2 recently myself and even though my total # of bags now sits at 11 i don't feel guilty since it's very user friendly and much cheaper than what i usually spend lol. my maximum was 12 then i lowered it to 10, ideal is 7. i now have 1 Coach, 3 LV, 4 RM, 3 Nylon.

i'll wear one of the rm soon and if i don't like it i'll sell that too ... but i still another 2 rm trying to sell (excluded from above) and if those don't sell i'm tempted to add them back in sigh

i was going to sell one of my LV 2 months ago and then i panicked after sort of listing it. i'm glad i didn't do i though even though i still haven't used it for a long while

i wanted a 226 or medium classic flap too but on 1 hand i want it on the other hand i don't think it's practical/ reasonable to spend that amount of amount to just admire the bag like a piece of art most of the time (ie i'm sure i will not be using it much)

I am happy to tell everyone that I sold and shipped out a bag today. This was my first time selling a bag, and it went extremely well. Paypal let me know that they won't put the money into my account until I provide them with a tracking number ( I guess this saves the buyer). I cannot wait to purchase a bag that I will love.
