Ever purged your collection in pursuit of one bag? How did it go?

hmm.. i just sold 2 things on ebay last night and i got the funds immediately??

anyways- i think i'm in purge mode. this happens to me every year or two. this time last year i had 4 bags after my purge. somehow i have 32 now...
not good.
wish me luck because everytime i pull out a bag i might want to sell - i end up loving it again!

Knas, a similar thing happened to me with Belen Enchiada (sp?) bags, I bought some and then sort of regretted not getting a more classic designer bag.

Chris7891, Congrats! I have two things to ship out today after lunch w/me at work.

thedseer, my b-bag was such a great buy for me. It is my go-to casual bag on the weekends and its so lightweight!

MsP, thanks for the input. Exactly ike you said, I don't want a purse to be an expensive piece of art!

I'm having a very hard time deciding about the Chanel. I have two Chanel totes that I use for work and a cute wallet on a chain that is great for going out. For weekends I use my Balenciaga most of the time. For dinners/evening I have a nice collection of dressy and casual clutches, but the Chanel 226 would be a great dressy weekend bag for brunch/going out somewhere nice, etc. I think if I keep it I wouldn't need another bag like that for a couple of years at least.

My ebay sales are going extremely well! It is great motivation for me to list more. I'm surprised at how well they are going actually.

Wow, 32! I'm not organized enough to have that many! I think if you've had a paypal account longer you might get the funds faster?

ghall, I just sold two bags on the bay a week or so ago and got my funds immediately too. I guess it varies by the seller.... maybe you have to have a certain amount of feedback or something?

^yes, pretty sure it takes a certain amount of feedback before you can get funds immediately. Can’t remember how much, but I get my funds immediately now too.

I LOVE my bbag – I always went back and forth on whether I wanted to take the plunge or not/whether I liked the look of them, but the velo is so perfect for me. Part of the reason I think it’s not going to be too hard to sell off a lot of stuff is because I have mostly satchels, and I’ve been gravitating more and more to crossbody/hobo and less heavy bags. My Bal and BV are so light. I think I’d like a Day down the road – perhaps birthday present to myself 2011?

Just wanted to say as of today I have sold enough on Ebay to cover 60% of the cost of my Chanel.:p

DH is mostly just happy that I'm cleaning out stuff and finally using the boxes for shipping I've been saving.

Eeeeeeee! My birthday bag AND my first Bal ...that I saved and saved for is finally here!
I'll have to try and take some pics on Thursday...but I'm so proud of myself for being really patient..not buying anything for along time and saving up for one on my HG bags...not bragging, I swear..just happy.:flowers:

Congrats Ladies! I'm so happy to hear that many of you are getting your HG bags!

I just thought I'd check in after being away for a while. I have been lurking and posting less overall on TPF to avoid temptation, but still I can feel myself getting sucked back in again. I blame RM for coming out with some new gorgeous leathers!

Anyways, I have purged a lot, but I haven't been able to get down to my goal of less than ten bags total. I'm more at less than ten of each designer. I have downsized my LP and BE collections but RM, Treesje and HH remain my weaknesses. Any tips on how I could narrow it down even more with those designers? I have thought about just purging all of my bags by one designer, but I like the variety. I just can't seem to let any more go...

jc, it's about a number that works for you. Variety is the spice of life. There is no reason you should eliminate a designer if you really love and use the bags. Do you use all the bags you're keeping, or are they just sitting there because you can't let them go? Do you have a rule that you use when buying a new bag? Are all the bags you have working for you? Find your own magic number. :hugs:
