^OMG ..you and me both...its very hard to be patient:shocked:..esp. when you have all the money saved and waiting for it to come in...its burning a hole in my savings acct!....but its good for me to wait..:amuse::smile1:

Chris, it just mentally wore on me to walk into my closet and see those bags just sitting there. I only use my work bag 5 days a week and my LV one/two days a week while the others sat there, with tags on. I just decided to let go of the idea of these bags and move on. The reality is that none of the RM bags have ever 100% worked for me. Why not sell them to fund something that works for you?! A big plus is that whomever eventually purchases them will enjoy them and that thought makes me happy too. It's such a shame to see them just wasting away--they should be with owners who will appreciate and enjoy them.

Thank you. I agree, it would be better to a owner who appreciates the bag more than I do.

2 bags off to new owners now which means I've almost funded the new satchel I want.

I can do this! Heh heh heh.

I can feel another 2 bags about to move to the chopping block! I have one clutch, but I am not a clutch person and I've only ever used it for one evening...that's it! Off to take pics for Bonanzle.

Good for you for the progress you've made!

I always tell myself: "It's pretty, but I never carry it." "It's pretty, but satchels don't suit me." "It's pretty, but I already have 10 prettier black hobos."

Hope that helps!

It did! If someone were to tell me a year ago that I'd have less than five bags, I'd have given them the strangest look, but somehow it happened. I've kept a couple sentimental bags that aren't, but I'm going to try to build my collection back up with Marc Jacobs only.

I'm sick of having so much stuff and recently figured out that I could have bought my HG bags if I hadn't spent so much $$$ on other bags/shoes/etc over the past few years! So I'm in declutter/Ebay list mode after having already ordered a HG -- Chanel reissue 226 I need to make up some funds so I feel less guilty!!

I'm wondering about scarves -- any thoughts? I have bought some nice scarves over the years thinking that they would be classics that I could wear forever - well problem is that I don't look so great when I see photos of me in scarves and I don't like anything too tight on my neck. I don't know if I should try again or let some of them go - in particular I'm thinking of selling a Hermes limited edition scarf that I bought. I'm a little torn b/c its my only one. Thoughts? *If I post this in Hermes I'll get keep it*

Any tips for not getting it wrong when you sell? Although honestly to date I've never regretted a sale.

Otherwise I have a long list of items to list on Ebay. I will say that I successfully resisted buying another casual bag since it just felt like a repeat of what I have.

^^ Good for you, LeeMiller! your HG Chanel will be worth all of the selling.

If you don't like the way you look in scarves, I'd sell them all including the Hermes. I don't believe in hanging onto things that I don't use.

I agree with Doreen! Why keep anything that you don't think you look good in? You end up not wearing it as much as you would if you did like the way it looks and it just clutters up your cupboards!

Now that I've given some bags the chop, I have turned my attention to stuff that I have that I NEVER wear but keep for sentimental reasons...a cherry red Burberry trench (slightly too big for me), a cashmere/camelhair coat (too long) etc etc.

I was really strong yesterday when one of the handbag designers I like had a sample sale! I only bought something on my wishlist instead of grabbing stuff because of the good prices.

I'm getting better at this as the days go by!

Fantastic idea!!! I am going to try this, too. :smile1: (More for diet and exercise than bags, though). I appreciate the reminder of how well this strategy works.

I actually do the journal thing for all of my spending - every day I write down what I spend, how much is in the bank, etc., and this does a GREAT DEAL towards keeping me in check (along with not using any credit cards except for one that we share for household expenses.) I know that I can get a little "spendy" so this simple strategy is critical for me.

If I fall of the wagon and quit writing my expenses down, I inevitably get into a bit of trouble balancing my personal budget. Yes, it's low-tech, but the journalling works like a charm.

I like to do the journal thing to. I started this last October and have not looked backed. At the end of each month I total up how much I made and how much I purchased. Only sometimes do I slip up where I have spent more than I made.

Every week I will look at my wishlist and revise (either add or remove) so I don't make impulse buys. I make a list of things I need before I shop and I am slowly getting better. I have made a couple of shopping mistakes these recent months, but I am learning from them and won't make those mistakes again.

I think the best thing is working out what works for you, which style of bag or purse and how much you really think the item is worth is sometimes not the same as the price tag. I have used this approach in other items I buy aswell.

Why did you buy it in the first place - because it is Hermes? Sell that baby!
Because you thought of it as something beautiful? Then I think you have 3 options: Frame it, get a fixation (magnetic framing system) or sell it!

Don't hold on to it for the name or rarity - scarves are not an investment. They are art or a piece of clothing. Nothing more, nothing less.
