^Yes, I’d definitely like an Alexa down the line, and I hope you can get yours as well! It is so adorable that it is tough not to keep, and it’s versatile and lightweight. I’ll take some pics before I return it. But I agree with others’ assessments that it’s perhaps a little overpriced, and as much as I adore Mulberry’s oak, there have been issues with the oak buffalo that make me hesitant to keep it. I want bags that will LAST. I’ll have to see what fall colors come out, or maybe try to track down a black lambskin or buffalo. I’m also so used to buying pre-owned bags (and the discount that generally comes with them), that I think I’m also just hesitant to buy a bag at full price – especially when my money is better spent elsewhere at this point. It’s nice to be more excited about moving than bags, because that takes some of the pressure off of being banned and continuing to purge.

I've decided to purge most of my Coach collection. I am kind of over some of the bags I have. Some didn't quite work out for me (too heavy, too busy, etc.) I need room especially since I may be moving in September. Whatever money I make I will save towards something I really want. I haven't decided what that will be, but hopefully it's a bag I fall head over heels in love with! I need to be better about my bag buying and I think I have been much better in the last year and a half.

The strategy that I found works best for me is to group tasks. I take photos of everything at one time. Later, I sit down and write my descriptions for everything at one time. Then, when it's time to list, all the tough stuff is all done.:smile1:

TJ, thanks for this excellent advice. I was getting in a bit of a flap as I still haven't got round to listing anything despite my resolve to actually do this purge thing! I have a few days off coming up and I'll definitely follow this advice.

That’s great – keep us updated! I’m in a similar situation with purging before moving, and I think it’s a great idea : )

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Mulberry Buffalo - I am eyeing the black Buffalo, so your review is helpful! Maybe I will get lucky down the line on an auction site - like you, I am allergic to paying retail. :p

And coronita, you are absolutely picking the perfect time to purge! Good luck - and we are here to support you in the process! :smile1:

Thanks! I thought I'd be a bit more heartbroken but I'm not. It's time to share them with other people that may apprecaite them more than I did. :smile1:

Plus purging is great - more room and a little bit of $$!

Hi Everyone,
I"m going to come back and read the posts in this thread when I have more time since I can't wait to hear how everyone's doing. I'm sure great!

But I just quickly read this last post and I had to say I couldn't agree more about passing on a bag another can enjoy!

I feel SO good knowing my bags are out there being enjoyed and no longer just sitting in my closet. That's huge in why I sold so many. Of course a little extra $$ to apply toward a bag that I love is always nice. It's a win win in my book!

So I’ve been having some second thoughts about returning the Alexa (which is stupid, because I know it’s a bad time for me to buy and that I would probably prefer a different color), but I found out last night that I got the apartment I looked at Monday, so I’m very excited! I had originally planned to move in mid-July, but now I should be completely moved no later than mid-June. I have a LOT of packing ahead of me, and some more purging to do, but thanks to this thread, I feel much better about the whole process – I have way less bags to worry about moving or purging, I feel happy with what I have, and glad that I have extra money from sales and that others are loving and using the bags that I didn’t use. So now I just have to get on selling the last few, and then I should be down to 8 (plus a few smaller/SLGs)!

As an aside, I know we’ve talked a little about Bonz vs. feebay. I’ve pretty much only ever sold on Bonz, but I had one bag that wasn’t getting much attention on Bonz, so I moved it to feebay. Not only did it get a ton of attention, but I was able to sell it for almost what I paid for it (minus fees and shipping).

^Great news all around, thedseer!!

And coronita, once you start to thoughtfully purge it is - at least in my experience - a total win-win situation, as lovebags2 says. I am also enjoying every last bag in my closet, and cannot recall a time when I felt that way before!

I've considered selling off some older bags too but I get SO attached that I never manage to get to the "selling" part! I probably should consider selling some though. that's smart.

Go for it!! You might want to take some time to check out the rest of this thread - you will see that it's generally a question of three steps forward, one step back - but once you get started being more thoughtful about purchases and maintaining a realistically sized collection that truly suits your needs, it is really much more fun. :smile1:

i absolutely would do this; havent yet, but i have my eye on an lv mahina, big bucks; need to get rid of a bunch of bags for that one...i agree with others, why have a bunch of so so bags that you are not in love with, when you can get rid of those and buy your hg?

I've been following this thread with great interest for a while. I had just purged some bags when I first came across it. Back then I thought I would just give away all the bags I no longer loved. But, I must say, you guys have inspired me to purge further and to think that just maybe some of my bags are worth selling. (I don't normally buy "hot" bags.) So now I've compiled a list of possible bags to sell and started taking pictures. Hopefully I'll soon be able to list those and see how it goes. I picked out a few for a special friend and what I don't think is sellable will be donated somewhere. I'm feeling pretty good about my decisions - particularly since I just bought some bags in my wish list. (those are keepers, BTW.)

Thanks for all the inspiration, ladies!

I have recently purged approx 15 bags  after being very strict on myself - my cupboard was bulging and I hadn't used most of them for over 12 months. In fact, one was still sitting there from 12 months ago with the new tag still attached! I used them all for a few days to see if I would change my mind but it just confirmed that I don't use them because they don't suit my lifestyle. They were mostly Marc Jacobs bags - just found the styles I had chosen to be too heavy and hand-held bags - I really need shoulder bags.

I sold them on consignment - couldn't face going through ebay - and felt really happy with my decision. I have replaced all 15 bags with 1 Chanel, 1 LV, 1 BV and 1 Balenciaga. All are bags I have wanted for a long time but didn't feel happy spending so much money on. I now realise I am better just buying THE one bag I want instead of 3 cheaper ones!

Has been a liberating experience and now I have lots of extra room in my cupboards!
