Ladies, rainrowan needs a little cheering up.... :woohoo:

I started to list my bags and all of a sudden I got so stressed out with the whole process of selling. It happens every time it must be psychological -- I need to purge, at the same time I want to finish already. I only managed to list one bag but maybe I will be less stressed tomorrow....

Want to earn enough to partially fund the upcoming LV Delightful MM...

Hang in there Rain..:smile1: maybe put everything you want to sell in one area--then just pick a couple of items to start? Take it slowly if you need to. The strategy that I found works best for me is to group tasks. I take photos of everything at one time. Later, I sit down and write my descriptions for everything at one time. Then, when it's time to list, all the tough stuff is all done.:smile1:

i am in the middle of doing this too. do you think i could get more selling everything separately or together (like sets, matching purses with matching accessories)?

You know, I think that depends on the item - it seems to me that more coveted items could be sold separately, since they are likely to go more quickly, while items that are less expensive or perhaps not as "hot" could be sold together.

For ex., you could sell a bag and a matching coin purse together (making the coin purse a kind of "bonus" purchase - and I would advertise it as such in the listing - that should help you sell more easily, if it doesn't hurt your bottom line too much).

Or you could sell everything separately, but include a note in each listing letting potential buyers know that if they purchase more than one item from you, you are willing to cut them a special deal or something like that.

Just some ideas...hope this helps! Good luck!! :smile1:

doreen and Tejas, I love your idea for completing tasks! I am taking mental (and Moleskine) notes... ;)

I am doing some spring cleaning this afternoon. We live in an old row house and the closets are tiny, so we have always had to store our warm-weather clothes during the cold months, and vice versa - and doing this clothes swap twice a year used to take so long...

I now have such little clothing that it took me ten minutes total to do the swap.

More time to play with the dog! :happydance:

I'm getting there! I have picked two good sized hobos, 1 black 1 brown. Two "fun colored" bags. Two everyday sized bags, one black, one tan. And then picked my 6 favorite MACs (I have 12), which are a combo of neutrals and pops of color, and I'll keep my 3 Rockers. Everything else will go. I'm hoping I can eventually get down even more later but I think this is a good start. Wish me luck!

Congrats! Keep us posted on how it goes. I felt so good after selling some things I no longer used regularly. I'm sure you'll do well.

I am actually the other way, sold my Hermes, Chanel and Balenciaga to buy more others designer purse. I need bags that are durable, practical in my stay at home mom lifestyle.
Hermes and Chanel are GORGEOUS, but at this moment I have no use of them, instead of them laying in my closet I prefer to sell them to fund for others designer bag that will be utilize in my daily life. Balenciaga I do LOVE LOVE LOVE, but I can't and won't baby my bags, and I can't stand the handles and the bottom getting dirty, rub off and etc..... so I keep couples of my Bal which I will use and do not feel "guilty" when I do so
I discovered lots of others designer bags that is with EXCELLENT craftmanship, THICK leather, GORGEOUS design by selling one of my previous bag and bought few of them.
so, I am more to CRAFTMANSHIP, LEATHER, DURABILITY and HOW PRACTICAL the bag are then the BRAND NAME or TREND. JMHO ;)

Thanks everyone! I got my MacBook Pro Friday and love it!! It is so nice to finally have a fully functioning computer, and totally worth the purging. I also have had fabulous luck with sales with my latest purge – even to the point of being able to recoup most of what I paid for many of the bags. I still have a few more to list which I’ve been dragging my feet about, but now I may be moving as early as NEXT WEEK instead of in mid-July like I originally though, so that may be another kick in the pants to get my act together – especially since there will be an overlap of rent. The good news is that I think I’m down to 5 last bags to sell.

I also received a Mulberry Alexa which I had been lusting over for a looong time and finally tracked down. It’s totally adorable, but it’s just a bad time for me to make such a big purchase, and although it’s such a great little bag, I’m not sure it’s worth the large price tag to me – maybe down the road, and maybe in a different leather – so I think I’m going to make the difficult decision and return it. If I do end up moving next week (which it looks like – I am looking at a place tonight and hopefully another on Tuesday!), then that money would be better spent on my security deposit. I can’t wait to finally move INTO the city!

I have also been rotating my bags almost every day, and now getting more use out of every bag now that I have less clutter. I think 8 is a good number for me for now, and I’m happy that I’m almost there.

Good for you. I sold all my Chanels too, partly financial reasons (paying off debt) but also as much as I love them they didn't fit my lifestyle, you know? I was always worrying I'd get a scratch or something.

I still appreciate them a ton, but even if $5K dropped from the sky I wouldn't buy a bag over $1K anymore.

Your plan is fantastic - practical, and reasonable...keep us posted and best of luck!!! :hugs:

Very, very smart!!! You are 100% correct - if you don't enjoy it, then why keep it? (I should clarify here that some folks can enjoy a bag without using it - I wish that I could - but to each her/his own!) :smile1:

Finally accepting what works for yourself relieves a lot of stress.

It must be hard to give up the Alexa, but for what it's worth I think that you are absolutely doing the right thing!

I am seriously contemplating an Alexa myself - I have wanted one for a long time, and now that they have one in plain black buffalo leather I really want one...but I need to pay for a very expensive plane ticket first, so it can wait.

Hopefully we will both get our Alexas (for keeps this time ;)) sooner rather than later!!! :graucho:

Good luck with your apartment search and move!!! :hugs:
