I know, it can be very hard!! But think of it this way: you are still putting up 2 bags for sale, so you ARE moving forward. I applaud you!!! :yahoo:

Thanks! Some days I think I am well on board and then the next day I am back to keeping most of them. I'm getting there... slowly. :p

Yeah...I don't know, I DO love that bag but it was not getting any love since I got into the Balenciaga...which is turning out to be PERFECT for me, now that I got over the fear of actually using them, lol!!!

Finding the perfect black bag is incredibly difficult - Now I would truly love a Damier Neverfull MM in that graphite color (I think that's what it's called - but then again you know LV better than I do) with black trim. I would buy that in a NANOSECOND.

You know there is this rumor that keeps resurfacing that some women's bags will start being produced in the Damier Graphite line but LV stance is that it's for men only. :sad: I know how you feel. I have a Mono Galliera PM... if I could have one in Damier Graphite I could easily sell off all most all my other bags. I like the Galliera that much.

oh, i love the idea of using a journal to keep track of spending as well - seeing it written down will probably scare me into not buying!

This really does work. I used to keep a spreadsheet. Three columns... personal expenses (groceries, gas, etc), bills and "extras". Then at the bottom I had my monthly intake and every time I tracked in a new amount it would subtract it from the total. It was great. I started saving so much money. And then after about 3 years I stopped. I thought I could handle myself but I fell back into the same track. I should start that again, it was a great help.

Oh I'm so glad ya'll brought up this listing subject. Making a list of my bags, in my moleskin helped me focus on inventory as well as where I stand mentally on handbags. I also make lists when I feel that I need to get grounded in other aspects of life. When I flounder, I get anxious. When I jot it all down, I have something visual that I can work from to re-focus.

I couldn't agree more! When I don't have a visual reminder, I am lost. And that's when I start to get in all kinds of trouble! :nuts:

Ah....if only the LV Graphite rumor were true!!! :sweatdrop: Then I would have a Galliera, too!! (I love that bag, but brown bags do not work for me, unfortunately, because if not I would bought a Galliera ages ago. I love the shape and lightness of it).

Oh Lo I can't believe you sold your YSL!

This is a great thread, I love how thoughtful everyone has become about their purchases!

I have really been trying to only keep bags that are absolutely perfect for me, but it's difficult when I love the leather on one or the details on another. Or I love everything about my mbmj pttm natasha except the magnets are so strong that anything metal I put in my bag gets attracted to them, and my phone thinks that it's linked to a carport. Every bag I have has one thing wrong with it... if I purged everything that wasn't totally perfect I'd be out of bags!

I also have the problem that my two favorite colors are red and purple, so that's what I'm attracted to for everything. I have lots of red and purple in my wardrobe, and shoes, and bags... but I don't want to wear all red or all purple because that's too matchy matchy, and I don't like wearing red with purple, so I've actually really limited myself with what I can wear. What's a girl to do? hehe

I have this problem too - I wear tons of blue, and so blue bags don't really work for me. That doesn't seem to stop me from buying them and later consigning them, argh!!

What I've discovered is that the only bag colours I really need are black and brown. I'm really trying to limit colours because I simply won't wear them! My current colours include a dark purple Coach hobo (almost a neutral), a blue swingpack and an Epi noé in toledo blue (which I am kind of on the fence about). I also have a pink Coach bag, but it isn't comfortable on the shoulder so I'll likely be consigning/ giving it away soon.

Colour bags also terrify me because of colour transfer from denim (which I wear almost every day). I've already wrecked one bag and I would hate myself if that happened to a more expensive one.

SLGs are a whole other story though... they can be as colourful as they wish!!

Yup! Sold the YSL - and I don't miss it (I have only ever really "missed" one or two of the many bags that I have sold), even though I enjoyed it a great deal while I had it. :nuts:

I have come to the following conclusions, then:

1. I am happiest with 3-5 bags, 1 small wallet, and 1 clutch wallet total;
2. At least one of my bags has to be RED, and 1 has to be a cross-body;
3. None of them can be handheld-only;
4. No blues or browns;
5. I won't pay full retail;
6. Even if a bag fulfills my requirements, I have no problem selling it after I have had my fun...I may do this more than most, in fact. I am just coming to terms with the fact that I am not the type of handbag lover that gets overly attached to any bag.

Is this bad? I don't necessarily think so.

This strategy tends to work better for me than having a larger collection that I would probably not actually really use and would feel more pressure to "rotate." I love looking at the amazing collections that some folks around here have and at times wish that I had one as well but I don't possess the funds or the patience for many bags so it's not an option. :D

I'm much the same. I :heart: :heart: :heart: a bag while I have it, but when I'm done with it, it's oh-vah!

Not sure if I can follow your rules, tho...

1. I am happiest with 3-5 bags, 1 small wallet, and 1 clutch wallet total;
I, on the other hand, am developing a wallet obsession. I need to watch out for excess in the SLG realm
2. At least one of my bags has to be RED, and 1 has to be a cross-body;
I rarely carry a cross body, but all of mine have to be either shoulder bags or clutches
3. None of them can be handheld-only;
ditto, except for clutches!
4. No blues or browns;
gah! I love my blues. My only "Never" is "No white, no extremely pale colors.
5. I won't pay full retail;
I'm hanging my head in shame...I'm about 50/50 on retail vs. on sale

I agree. I've said before in this thread that I get stressed when I have so many bags that I have to think about them. I don't want to think that hard about getting ready to go out.

Does anyone ever feel in a rut due to having a few bags from the same designer? Just curious, since I might be one of those. lol

I used to feel that way due to having so much of the BV intrecciato weave. Now that I only have two woven bags, I'm cool with it.

Whatcha thinking of moving away from, kroquet? Is it a style or a specific designer? You can tell us...we'll keep it a secret.;)

Well, if you will keep a secret. lol I have found through my purchases and sales that the bags must be very soft and shoulder comfortable. I have the Nero Tournaboni which is a gorgeous bag, but not as soft as the nappa, so I have been thinking of switching out for something else. I am lusting after the LE Bal bag from NM in the black and also a Lanvin that's on ebay right now, at a much better price.

I have also discovered that the BV CErvo Hobo is a 10 in my book. The Lanvin leather looks incredibly soft like the cervo. I think that I would also love to have a cool, vintage clutch for evenings, or a smallish bag that is shoulder carry or clutch.

^^ Kroquet, I have the same preference -- soft, slouchy, must go on the shoulder. I too :heart: the BV cervo hobo and I have to resist picking them up in every color!

It's funny about the tournaboni...I know people who love it because they prefer a more structured bag. Those of us who love slouchers should pass on it, IMO
