Here's my mini update ladies.

I"m down to a much smaller collection but boy am one handbag happy collector!
I have my navy Muse YSL,
Bottega Ebano Campana,
and Tod's G bag in black and white as my top 4 bags in my collection.
I do own a few other Misc bags but these are my everyday choices.

The Tod's has turned out to be my all time favorite for several reasons.

I"ve by now sold all my Belen Echandia's, Rebecca Minkoff, LV, YSL downtown's, Hogan, and more.

This thread has been very helpful in my purging process. I feel that when I was bogged down with all the bags I owned that it was an obstacle in my enjoyment of bags, period.

Now I"m enjoying much fewer handbags but it's a more genuine enjoyment.
For instance, I"ve been wearing my G bag now for weeks and have absolutely no desire to change over to another bag. And I never feel guilty for letting so many expensive bags just sit in my closet in their dust bags. That feeling is 100% gone due to this purging jouney.

And I LOVE not having my thoughts on what will be my next purchase. I"m not saying I won't ever buy another bag. I just did actually - a white Tod's G bag. But buying now feels different. It's fun and enjoyable without any stress or worry if I'll be wasting yet more money.

Sometimes I look back and say what was I thinking being so loyal to the wrong designer's or styles that just didn't work for me. But then again it got me to this point AND that's a good thing!

I"m finally done with my purging. Yippeee!!!:yahoo:

I totally prefer the Coach bag out of the two and I usually love all things MJ.

I have read this thread from the start and need to contribute because I'm in need of some help. Even though my bags are not expensive, I hope I'm able to contribute in this thread. :)

I have 2 bags right now, soon to be 3. I can't deal with too many bags because I find it overwhelming switching out of purses day in and day out. Luckily for myself I've found the perfect black bag that is great for everyday use which is the MBMJ Faridah. It is so perfect for me because of the size, the compartments, the fact it never slips of my shoulder and the leather is very scrumptious, smooth and sturdy. I love love love it in every way! I will shortly be receiving a MBMJ Totally Turnlock Natasha crossbody in black with silver hardware for the summer time that will be able to go with everything when carrying only a few items. Plus, that secret pocket is amazing. My final bag that I currently have is an RM Mini Mini in wine. When I did my purge in January it was the 1 RM bag I couldn't get rid of as Lo knows.

Even though I can only handle a few handbags at a time, 3 new bags have caught my eye. Surprisingly, there is a Coach bag I really like from their Kristin line. I'm just loving because it's sleek and very versatile - it can be used as a crossbody as well as on the shoulder: http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/c/0/0/c0/c/AAAADBa5MSsAAAAAAMDCEg.jpg

The next one up is the MBMJ Teri Tote: http://img11.beso-images.com/resize?sq=450&uid=880654938

I really like the look of it. Considering I have the Faridah, I'm not sure if I should get this one. Anyone have any opinions? There have been comments about how it doesn't stay on your shoulder properly and slips off easily. Any experiences with that?

The next one up is the LV Speedy 30 or 35 in Ebene. This is one that I will for sure be getting by the end of 2010. I love everything about it.

I'm having a ton of trouble deciding between the Coach Kristin Hobo and the MBMJ Teri Tote. It's true, in general I love MBMJ more than any other bag out there. The Kristin Hobo is totally calling my name. I'm getting overwhelmed thinking of all 3 bags and I'm having trouble making decisions.

What would you do? Thanks in advance.:smile1:

Wow, can’t believe this thread has been going strong for more than 4 months! I can’t remember at what point I started actively purging, but since it started I believe I’ve sold 8 bags and gifted 2. Not a net loss of 10 though – I’ve picked up a few as well.

I believe now I have:
RM – 3 MAB, 4 MAM, 1 Mattie, 1 Mini Nikki; Bal – 1 Velo; BV – 1 Large Veneta

And smaller bags:
Coach – 1 wristlet; RM – 1 rocker, 3 MACs, 1 lovers clutch

And SLGs:
A few RM, 1 BV wallet

Plus 3 bags that I am still trying to sell.

My number’s still a little higher than I would like, but aside from the 3, I don’t feel like I have any that I want to sell at this point. I’d eventually like to trim down my RMs, but they are mostly very rare ones that I’ve spent a while tracking down, and I need to get to that place first where I feel like I can let some of them go. I’ve been making more of an effort to switch out bags, but I think I’m going to need to get a little more aggressive with my “use it or lose it” policy – I move in 2.5 months, probably sooner, and I REALLY don’t want to move all of these.

On the plus side, even though my number’s still high, I’ve trimmed a lot, diversified, made some money, and used some of the money to buy my first premier designer bags, which I love – the Velo and the Veneta (also briefly had a YSL, but realized quickly that it wouldn’t work for me and sold it). Once I finished stage 1 of my purge, I should have enough to finally replace my laptop! I also feel like I am in a place where I am (mostly) really thinking out my purchases, and I don’t feel the need to buy anything else any time soon. The process hasn’t been easy always, but it’s totally worth it.

It sounds like you're doing a great job paring down to what you love! I feel like I'll always have a love/hate relationship with RM because some of the styles are great but the ongoing customer service issues make me crazy. I sold almost all of my RMs during the course of the thread, but I couldn't part with my BBW MAMM. It's a substitute for a clutch or going out bag when I only need to carry a few things.

I bet you'll find another item or two that can be sold before you end up moving--scaling down helps with clarity, doesn't it?

I purged quite a bit back in Dec/ Jan and acquired a few since. I still have a large number of bags, but I've stopped stressing about it. After sitting down and going through them, I really like what I have left and don't want to part with it. My storage situation is organized and I do switch bags just about every day, so I feel like I'm using what I have. Good sign is that I'm not lusting after anything. I appreciate everyone's buys, but I'm good with what I have.

Your list is really well rounded! Having just a few things really helps you figure out what, if anything, is missing. I keep hearing great things about the Anthra Bal but I don't venture into that SF (or the BV one) for fear I will discover what I've been missing all this time!:D

As for me, I'm finding my Longchamp bags are pretty much all I'm using right now. I find I usually reach for my dark grey BE as a nice all-around bag and I just don't need much at this point in time. I still have a few nice leather bags but it's getting more sparse in my closet. And, I received a nice email from the person who bought my BBW MAB and she's in love with it so I'm feeling good that someone can really enjoy it instead of it languishing in my closet.

Lovebags2 and klj – you are doing so great! Thanks for the updates!

I think that was part of my problem – it was tough to focus on what I wanted/what I didn’t want until I got rid of stuff that I KNEW I didn’t want – almost to that point now. Now that there’s less “clutter” (also cleaned out my room/clothes which helps), I have a better idea of what I have, and I’m finding myself rotating more – which is giving me a better idea of what I should keep.

RM is tricky – The new stuff isn’t really tempting me, but I love my old school bags. But the same CS/QC problems over and over again is upsetting. I’m also finding some of the bags a little heavy now (especially since I’ve traded some MAMs in for MABs). I know there are a few that I will not be able to part with, but I think I can slim down my RMs – just don’t want to do it before I’m ready.

It is really nice to hear that people who I’ve sold to are happy with their buys. If I’m not using something, then I’m glad someone else is!

I sent two bags to the consignment store and then kind of stopped purging. :P I know that I should probably lose a few more bags (LVs and Coach) but I just can't bring myself to at the point. I do enjoy reading the thread and seeing how everyone else is doing, though!

I like this post because it is a reminder that each person's number is different. You say you have several bags but you love and use them and it works for you. Sounds like it is working well for you!

Thankyou both Doreen and Lo for being so kind and sympathetic about my plight, currently Shopbop are supposed to be processing a refund for my duties and taxes and my return shipping cost so hopefully within the next couple of days (i am hoping friday) i will see the funds in my account, after initially REALLY getting off on the wrong foot with them i was then assigned a CS agent who i felt has been more understandng to my plight and has been willing to accomodate me and handle things in a professional manner,
Doreen - so sorry to hear about your husband, i hope all is well with him now? I am sending :hugs: your way xoxo

Wow that's great that ShopBop is going to refund your customs fees. I'm so glad they came through for you in the end! :flowers:

Thanks for the kind words about my DH. He's doing quite well and I'm happy to have him home from hospital.

Im trying to sell 2 of my bags to make room for my new chanel plus so I can have more money for other less expensive stuff. Im also saving up for an LV and refuse to buy it until my little money pot is full!!

I am trying to get rid of my first ever designer bag which I thought I might find difficult but its not. Just proves that even though my collection is small I dont need so many or at least so many of the same style.

Congratulations, that sounds like great progress! Which Chanel do you have your heart set on? Which LV?

Okay so i just took a huge TWO big black bags full of things to charity, i sent ALL of my non branded bags too so i am literally down to 4 bags now, i really feel that maybe 10 is my ideal number, i definately do not get sick of getting different variations of black with GHw, i have a huge wish list full of them lol. but to me there is a different style for a different occasion/outfit/etc... :D
