Haha just read what i put above ^ - must of had a psychic foresight moment, i am really sad to say that i DID end up disappointed, after my hubby struggled to save the money (and literally left us broke) in order to buy this bag for me then it arrived damaged, the best part is that if i send it back then it will cost me some more on top of the £130 i paid in duties and taxes for it and i have been called "hysterical" for being upset about this....

I am so sorry about this...I hope that everything has been resolved for you!!!

It stinks when you get defective merchandise - I had it happen to me with the same bag twice and it was maddening, to say the least.

Just checking in to announce that *2* bags I've been hunting for became available this past week, so I bought them both!

I'll post pics when I get the second one (got the first already).

This brings my total number of bags to FIVE (plus two clutches). I think I am DONE! :yahoo:

Congrats!!! :yahoo:

Which two bags did you buy? You have such gorgeous taste, so I am really curious!

It's amazing how telling people that I am going to sell some bags has helped me to get my act together. Ok, the camera died while I was taking pics for the listings but I'm still motivated to do it.

It helps that I have just taken delivery of a bag that really works for me and I've had a good think about my bag carrying habits and...I really love wearing bags messenger style. This made me look at 2 bags in my cupboard that weren't on my original chopping list but now they definitely are, so my list has gone from 3 bags to cull to 5.

This is great news! This thread has really helped several of us make the leap to let go of some things that no longer work. I know that reading other posts has helped me cull my own closet. I feel as though I really enjoy what I have right now and have room for a couple down the road that will be a much better fit.

Thanks for the updates, everyone - it seems like many of us are doing well with the selling and thoughtful purchases. :smile1:

You won't believe it, but I decided to list 2 of my bags for sale (I was up to 5). I listed my two black bags. I love them both, but had basically stopped carrying them, particularly one which I haven't worn in months. (I take this as a sign). It's not comfortable over the shoulder or cross-body, so it needs to go.

Once these sell, I will invest in another black bag, ideally one I can wear crossbody or over the shoulder that is a bit more casual. Or I may just get a Paraty!

At the moment I have three Bals, and am really enjoying them - they are so lightweight, the colors really work for me, and they are casual but not sloppy.

I have read this thread from the start and need to contribute because I'm in need of some help. Even though my bags are not expensive, I hope I'm able to contribute in this thread. :)

I have 2 bags right now, soon to be 3. I can't deal with too many bags because I find it overwhelming switching out of purses day in and day out. Luckily for myself I've found the perfect black bag that is great for everyday use which is the MBMJ Faridah. It is so perfect for me because of the size, the compartments, the fact it never slips of my shoulder and the leather is very scrumptious, smooth and sturdy. I love love love it in every way! I will shortly be receiving a MBMJ Totally Turnlock Natasha crossbody in black with silver hardware for the summer time that will be able to go with everything when carrying only a few items. Plus, that secret pocket is amazing. My final bag that I currently have is an RM Mini Mini in wine. When I did my purge in January it was the 1 RM bag I couldn't get rid of as Lo knows.

Even though I can only handle a few handbags at a time, 3 new bags have caught my eye. Surprisingly, there is a Coach bag I really like from their Kristin line. I'm just loving because it's sleek and very versatile - it can be used as a crossbody as well as on the shoulder: http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/c/0/0/c0/c/AAAADBa5MSsAAAAAAMDCEg.jpg

The next one up is the MBMJ Teri Tote: http://img11.beso-images.com/resize?sq=450&uid=880654938

I really like the look of it. Considering I have the Faridah, I'm not sure if I should get this one. Anyone have any opinions? There have been comments about how it doesn't stay on your shoulder properly and slips off easily. Any experiences with that?

The next one up is the LV Speedy 30 or 35 in Ebene. This is one that I will for sure be getting by the end of 2010. I love everything about it.

I'm having a ton of trouble deciding between the Coach Kristin Hobo and the MBMJ Teri Tote. It's true, in general I love MBMJ more than any other bag out there. The Kristin Hobo is totally calling my name. I'm getting overwhelmed thinking of all 3 bags and I'm having trouble making decisions.

What would you do? Thanks in advance.:smile1:

I think I am down to 16 every day bags and a couple of small clutch type bags and a couple of special occasion bags. this is pretty good for me and it doesn't make me crazy to have this #. it works for me. but I like to have a collection. I could let 2 or 3 more go but no hurry. I love my collection the way it sits now.

That's fantastic! This thread has turned into a support group for "right sizing" our collections, whatever that number is for each of us.

Personally I go nuts with more than 5 everyday bags...part of the reason for such a low number might be that I have limited storage space.

Overall though, since this thread started I've sold about 10 bags, so I can't complain!

Wow, that's great! I'm going to list some H scarves on FeeBay...I got a little distracted with some health issues DH was having but now he's on the mend and I need to get back to purging.

Thanks, Lo! I got two new Ferragamo bags. I'm going to do the reveal over in the Ferragamo forum...still waiting for one bag from NM.com. Come check it out...

I should have the 2nd new bag on Friday.

I saw your other thread and I'm sorry you got so much grief. I know how disappointing it is to lose money on a bag that you order. I hope ShopBop makes it right for you.

Hmm, is there a big price difference betwen the Coach hobo and the Teri Tote? Do you already have another tote? Do you already have another hobo? Which do you think you'll get more use out of?

The Coach Hobo is $299 while the Teri Tote is approx. $440. I don't have a tote but it's very similar to my everyday Faridah hobo with all the extra multi-function compartments. It's similar aesthetically.

I have a feeling I would get more use out of the Coach hobo because it also has a crossbody feature which is an added plus. This is the first time I'm liking a Coach line in a very long time.

I'm not sure but, I am thinking that say in a years time after I've bought the Coach hobo and the LV as well as using my other 3 purses on a consistent basis, I could always buy the Teri Tote off of eBay or Bonz at perhaps 1/2 the price.

Thankyou both Doreen and Lo for being so kind and sympathetic about my plight, currently Shopbop are supposed to be processing a refund for my duties and taxes and my return shipping cost so hopefully within the next couple of days (i am hoping friday) i will see the funds in my account, after initially REALLY getting off on the wrong foot with them i was then assigned a CS agent who i felt has been more understandng to my plight and has been willing to accomodate me and handle things in a professional manner, i now just have to wait for the refund of the actual bag, i am thinking i will buy from closer to home this time, Luisvaroma was looking good to me but looks like they have all sold out now :-(

Anyways - how are the rest of you ladies getting on? Are you saying that you are going to be selling your lovely YSL bag Lo??? I would LOVE a YSL bag (probably the muse) but is out of my price range just now, the Paraty is a nice bag too but i do have a soft spot for YSL...

Doreen - so sorry to hear about your husband, i hope all is well with him now? I am sending :hugs: your way xoxo

Im trying to sell 2 of my bags to make room for my new chanel plus so I can have more money for other less expensive stuff. Im also saving up for an LV and refuse to buy it until my little money pot is full!!

I am trying to get rid of my first ever designer bag which I thought I might find difficult but its not. Just proves that even though my collection is small I dont need so many or at least so many of the same style.

I agree the lightness of the bals makes it hard to want to carry anything heavy at least for more than a day or two. I just got a GSH black day, I have a feeling it will be my go to bag.

Wow, can’t believe this thread has been going strong for more than 4 months! I can’t remember at what point I started actively purging, but since it started I believe I’ve sold 8 bags and gifted 2. Not a net loss of 10 though – I’ve picked up a few as well.

I believe now I have:
RM – 3 MAB, 4 MAM, 1 Mattie, 1 Mini Nikki; Bal – 1 Velo; BV – 1 Large Veneta

And smaller bags:
Coach – 1 wristlet; RM – 1 rocker, 3 MACs, 1 lovers clutch

And SLGs:
A few RM, 1 BV wallet

Plus 3 bags that I am still trying to sell.

My number’s still a little higher than I would like, but aside from the 3, I don’t feel like I have any that I want to sell at this point. I’d eventually like to trim down my RMs, but they are mostly very rare ones that I’ve spent a while tracking down, and I need to get to that place first where I feel like I can let some of them go. I’ve been making more of an effort to switch out bags, but I think I’m going to need to get a little more aggressive with my “use it or lose it” policy – I move in 2.5 months, probably sooner, and I REALLY don’t want to move all of these.

On the plus side, even though my number’s still high, I’ve trimmed a lot, diversified, made some money, and used some of the money to buy my first premier designer bags, which I love – the Velo and the Veneta (also briefly had a YSL, but realized quickly that it wouldn’t work for me and sold it). Once I finished stage 1 of my purge, I should have enough to finally replace my laptop! I also feel like I am in a place where I am (mostly) really thinking out my purchases, and I don’t feel the need to buy anything else any time soon. The process hasn’t been easy always, but it’s totally worth it.
