I've seen many engagment rings with other stones...Calling it an engagment ring is a promise from him to you.....thats all.

My now fiance popped the question on Christmas day in Carmel Ca on the beach. It wasn't a total surprise since I helped pick out the ring, but nonetheless it was still very special.

It's a custom 2.2 carat ideal cut F color with tiny micro pave diamonds on the side. It has a halo, but IRL can't really see the halo a lot because the diamond sits on top of the halo so it just adds a little more sparkle to the diamond.

Don't know if this counts. These are my engagement and wedding bands after a major transformation years ago. After many, many years of traditional rings, they were transformed to this.

My Tiffany Sola Yellow Diamond Ring: .68 carats Fancy Yellow IF cushion modified brilliant diamond set in 18kt yg and pt. Setting is micropave halo design with 72 round colorless diamonds for a total of .35 carats. :love:

Pictured also with the Novo wedding band (but have not purchased the w-band yet!) :cloud9:

My Engagement ring is a round brilliant cut set in a platinum head with baguette rubies and diamonds yellow gold. 3.25 tw vs1 G color.
