eBay, etc. General Question/Answer Thread

Members are allowed to open multiple accounts (as long as it's not to circumvent a NARU account) but each account has to have its own email address. Also, although it seems obvious, your accounts cannot interact with each other, whether it's to build feedback or to shill bid.

Here's the policy on multiple accounts:
I was able to open an new account with my same email address this morning...haven't purchased anything yet but was able to make an offer

Has anyone ever opened eBay accounts in 2 different countries? Would it prohibit you from doing so because your name is the same on both accounts even though they're each for separate countries? If yes, can you use the same email address?

I have a separate credit card that corresponds to the currency of each such country so that's not an issue.

I haven't but I don't see why not.

Today I tried to report a listing for using a brand name that isn't the item in the listing (wasn't it called keyword spamming?) The listing had Coach in the title to get views for an off brand item. I couldn't find that as a choice. So I reported it as authenticity disclaimer. Did they change the reporting choices? Is there a better one I should have chosen? I got two responses to my report - first the item wasn't removed as they didn't think it violated anything, then a few hours later, it was removed. Maybe there was confusion because of my reporting choice.

Hey TPFers!
I want to sell my Chanel WOC. Where is the best place to list it? Vestaire maybe? I fear that I will be scammed by a buyer something like claiming the bag wasnt in the parcel or didnt receive it etc...

I usually sell on eBay who also offers authentication guarantee so your bag will most likely be went to eBay before it ships to the buyer, this protects both parties and ensuring accuracy of the posting. If you don’t want to go through all the hassles of handling the sales, you can also sell with either Fashionphile of Rebag. I have good experiences with both of them. Just know that their quotes will be lower than if you could have sold the piece yourself. Hope this helps :)

I did a search to answer this question, but wasn't able to find where anyone posted their final results. I sold a bag on Ebay and it went to the authenticator who deemed it authentic. It was then sent to the buyer who sent me a private message and left a 5 star raving review for the bag. Now she's disputing the CC charge saying she doesn't recognize it. I messaged her and nicely asked if she realized a dispute had been filed, but haven't heard back. I have all the tracking info where it shows it was delivered and signed for at the Authenticator as well as delivered and signed for by the buyer. I am challenging the dispute and provided all this information, along with screen shots of her review and the private message conversation. I don't see any way she could possibly win this. I am hoping she did it in error and removes the dispute, but I'm starting to wonder if she used a stolen card. All her reviews are great as a seller and a buyer though, so I don't know.

Question is....have any of you gone through this and won the challenge to the dispute? How long did it take for resolution? Ebay has conflicting information regarding the timing. One area says 90 days....another says 4-8 weeks. Any insight you can provide is appreciated. Depending on how this turns out, I may dump Ebay. This is my first sale on there and I've never had any issues like this on Poshmark.

guess it's buyer's remorse, was it sold for very high price, much more than similar items had sold?

I had someone dispute charges, but without the authentication and without leaving feedback. She just received the shoes I sent her and then claimed she didn't recognize the charge. She never even suggested returning them - so it stank of a scam right off the bat. The claim just timed out, and I got to keep the sales money. I think it took about 90 days. No big deal but a bit of a wtf. I've been selling for ages on eBay so the money was deposited to my account the next day though. Not sure if yours is being held if you're a new seller.
You have oodles of evidence backing you up and I wouldn't worry too much about it. Particularly since the authenticators are now involved your buyer would be hard pressed to prove she didn't make this purchase, and if tracking says she got it then at a minimum she'd have to return it.
She's hoping for a free bag in the dumbest way possible. She won't get one.
Hope that helps a bit!

It's not uncommon because of the way ebay transactions show on c.c. statements. It's difficult to tell what the charge is for when it looks like this so buyers may forget or just not realize what it is they're being charged for:

This is an easy win for sellers and if you need to respond to the case do so. (That usually involves pasting the tracking number.) Although they send you notice of the claim, ebay generally handles it internally and closes the case in the seller's favor.

Does the notification say that you don't need to do anything?

This should give you peace of mind.

The funds deposited in my account weeks ago. This is totally out of the blue. She seemed super happy to get the bag. So bizarre. yeah I have ample proof it was a legitimate sale and she's out of her mind. LOL

It said she had disputed the charge due to not recognizing it and had an option for me to challenge it. I wrote up a detailed account of the sale and included screen shots of her messages to me, her 5 star rating and review, the tracking from me to the authenticator, and the tracking from the authenticator to her showing delivered and signed for. I meant to include the copy of the email advising the bag had been authenticated, but in my rush to respond forgot. Though it should be clear it was or I'd not have the tracking from the authenticator to her. I've been on ebay a LONG time and have bought and sold on and off for years. I doubt I will sell another bag after this. Even if they do decide in my favor, it's just too much trouble. I've sold thousands of dollars of bags on Poshmark and have had one issue where the buyer was trying to get a free bag and PM handled it within 24 hours without me having to do a thing.
