hi - can someone explain what has changed on ebay when doing a search. :confused1:

for instance searching using "louis vuitton" and 100,000 items it shows if it is set to "best match" however it is change it to search by "price+shipping=lowest first" it then will show me only 15 items! that is the only option that does that. any other will still show 100,000 but in the order it is set to.
The same thing happens to me!

I think this one from the Boston Globe (August 10) will work:

Here's another interesting article, also from the Boston Globe.

If you send checks in the mail, either to pay bills, online purchases or as gifts, beware!

There have been more than a few warnings and news stories of crooks who fish envelopes from USPS mail dropboxes and do what's referred to as "check washing." The crooks steal mail with the hope of finding check payments and gifts and use a substance that removes the payee's name and the amount of the check. They then put their own name as the recipient and change the amount to a large sum.

Usually, by the time the theft has been discovered, the thieves get away with the "free" money without being caught.

But this story is fascinating because a number of coincidences allowed the victim and police to catch the guy and he described the way the scam worked. The guy actually traveled from California to Massachusetts in order to intercept delivery of $36K worth of gold coins.

There have been many reports in our suburbs of "check-washing" thefts, even of crooks breaking into outdoor mail drop boxes with power saws. The banks and post offices have been advising customers to not use any public drop boxes when sending any kind of checks and to use the slots or slidey-things located inside their local post offices during regular business hours whenever possible instead. Good advice for anyone who has to send checks through the mail!

If it's happening around Chicago it's probably happening everywhere.

Yes! My sister and her husband have a couple of business and live out "in the sticks" in Oklahoma and they have had a LOT of issues with check washing.

It is happening in NYC. First USPS redesigned the street mailboxes resulting in a very narrow slot in which to place mail. Thieves had been putting their hands in the older larger openings and taking out everything in the box to look for things to steal or checks to forge. So then the thieves came up with putting sticky glue on the narrow slit so envelopes will get caught on the top, unbeknown to the person mailing. A lookout swoops in and takes whatever envelopes he can get that have gotten caught in the top of the box. Luckily I mail very few checks, but when I do, I now go to t he PO inside. I sometimes wonder what we are coming to in the US.

Recently purchased a rare bag, that bag has not shipped. It shows up in my purchased items but when I click on the original listing it appears to still be active with a higher asking price. Can the seller do this? I’m tempted to cancel the order. It’s an experienced Japanese reseller with great feedback and 1,000s of transactions.
Many Thanks in advance.
