eBay, etc. General Question/Answer Thread

I am so annoyed. I listed three of the same style handbag yesterday, in three different colors, at three different prices. Two of them have not shown up in searches yet, and this is 18 hours later as I write this. I've called ebay twice, once yesterday and once this morning. They tell me (as they read from their script) that this is eBay's 'indexing', supposedly checking for listing duplicates. Anyone could see these are different bags at different prices. Grrrr. I was twice assured that the bags will be posted within 24 hours. Really??? I've been selling on ebay for 23 years and never had items withheld like this. So annoying!! Thank you for letting me vent. Husband didn't quite get my annoyance. Not even close.

is there anyway to search your purchase history further back than the couple of years ebay shows???

i bought some pages for my LV agenda and would like to get some more but i can't remember who the seller was.
Did you look through your feedback to see if you left or received any for that purchase? Or you could check your PayPal account.

Did ebay take away the "magnifying glass" option for listing photos? Or is it somehow user error on my end? It was there not too long ago and the past couple of days I don't have the option with any listing I'm looking at. If so, I am not a fan of this! I rely on that to make decisions!

Can you use multiple cards for one purchase?

I got some Mastercard Debit cards from a bonus/rewards site. They're fixed amounts, not reloadable. No matter how you plan, there's always a few dollars left over.

Ideally, I'd be able to stack them and use more than one for a purchase larger than what's left over, and maybe even use a regular card to fill in.

I don’t see that when I check out to pay on eBay. Physical stores can take more than one credit card.

I've got two situations, lol.
1. Purchased a Rebecca Minkoff bag that came with heavy cigarette odor. Seller said she'd accept return but I didn't want to use the ebay label because I knew I could return ship for less. I was being nice, didn't want to go the SNAD route, especially since it wasn't a high end purchase. Well, buyer disappears and stops responding to my messages. I chatted with ebay, who said it should have been a SNAD since odor was not disclosed. They said, "just wait, she's got good feedback," blah, blah, blah. I sent her another message, crickets. What would you do at this point? Ebay said it can't be converted into a SNAD complaint.
2. Purchased another RM, this one had photos of inside and out and said "clean inside and out". Seller avoided photographing a softball sized stain in the interior pocket (I don't think it's pen ink, maybe marker or highlighter), along with two smaller spots, in her listing, nor did she mention them. She also packaged it in a freaking envelope, which the mailman FOLDED IN HALF to fit in my mailbox! Granted, it's not super visible, but I would have liked to have known before purchasing! I could try to wash it to get it out but really feel I need to let Seller know that this was not okay. Thoughts?

For the first one, if you aren't able to open a NAD return request and if CS isn't able do it for you, you're stuck paying for return shipping. And after getting the refund for returning at your expense, the non-responsive seller should receive the appropriate feedback she earned by 1) not covering return shipping and 2) not honestly describing the item.

For #2, if you want to return it, open NAD for the undisclosed damage. If you don't want to return, you can send a message to the seller (before opening a request) asking how she'd like to handle your disappointment. You can tell her that had she been honest in describing and photographing the damage, you would have known what to expect and wouldn't have been willing to pay as much as you did. She might be willing to offer a partial refund.

In neither case should you threaten (or even mention) feedback! You don't want to be reported for feedback extortion.

hi - can someone explain what has changed on ebay when doing a search. :confused1:

for instance searching using "louis vuitton" and 100,000 items it shows if it is set to "best match" however it is change it to search by "price+shipping=lowest first" it then will show me only 15 items! that is the only option that does that. any other will still show 100,000 but in the order it is set to.
