I am fed up with USPS in my new area. The postman just skips days that I ask for pickup whenever he feels like it. I now have two days worth of boxes waiting for pickup and tomorrow it will be three when I box up the new sales. Its gonna totally suck for me to have to take one hour out of my work day in order to head to the post office every day or every other day, but that's clearly what I am going to have to do, since he just determines when he will and wont come by. I would hate to see my rating go down, but thats gonna happen if I expect the service that they offer.

On a happier note, my ebay sales seem to be going well. I cant wait until September when I have more time to invest in my refurbishing and sales venture.
I would call my post office. Every time I've had a problem, I call and complain. One time the manager made the carrier come back for my packages. I just heard today that my carrier decided my route was too difficult so I'm going to get a new carrier. The temporary guy is wonderful, he scans my packages when he picks them up, but he doesn't think he will get the route since he doesn't have seniority.
That annoys me too. If they don't give feedback within about a week, I'll ask for it but the request often goes ignored. I've also noticed that a lot of sellers will withhold their feedback until the buyer posts their own ( at least that has been my experience as a buyer). If the buyer paid on time I don't see why the seller wouldn't consider it a 5 star transaction.

If I take returns, I wait until the return period is up before I give feedback to a buyer unless she leaves me feedback first. I don't want to give good feedback and then have a problem return, and I don't want to remind them to return it if they hadn't thought of it. When I don't take returns, I wait a week to make sure they aren't going to complain. I used to give feedback immediately but I stopped that once I had a few problem buyers. I don't want to reward buyers who are PITAs.

I see your point ( I do much more buying than selling on eBay [emoji39]). And a lot of buyers are impossible to please so why would a seller stick their neck out by giving positive feedback immediately only to get burned by some jerk who just wants to cause trouble?
Thanks for clarifying [emoji4]

Just paying for a purchase doesn't make it a smooth transaction.

99% of PITA buyers and 100% of scammers PAY for items. It's how they behave following the sale that helps a seller decide whether to leave feedback and whether it's a "smooth transaction." Since sellers can only leave positive feedback for buyers, they want to make sure that their "reference" for that buyer is an accurate one.

Whether to leave feedback or not is voluntary and neither side is required to do it. And in fact, feedback as a buyer is worthless since it can only be positive.

Most sellers either don't leave any feedback since it doesn't give insight into the buyer's habits or they don't leave feedback until after teh buyer leaves it for them. When the seller receives positive feedback from the buyer, it tells the seller that the buyer is happy. At that point, some sellers will leave positive feedback for the buyer.

You've just answered your own complaint.

Do you arrange a pickup online? That's what I do, just make sure you check with regular mail delivery or they will charge you $10. I've been scheduling the pickup online for 2 yrs now and have never had a problem.

AFAIK, pickup has always been free. I've never heard of being charged $10.

I don't schedule a pickup and have never done so. I either put my items on the porch (if they don't fit in the mailbox), in the mailbox or I catch the mailman when he comes.

If you go to the USPS website you will see what I mean. I live on a country road, and my mailbox is far from my house. Putting letters or small boxes in the mailbox is fine, but at Christmas ( and when I have something large ) I schedule a pickup the night before. First you register on the USPS website and then go to schedule a pickup. You look on the calendar for the date you want, where you will leave the package ( mine are always at my garage door ) and I always check with mail delivery. Otherwise there is a $10 fee. You can change your mind up to 2AM the day before the pickup, the mail person gets a pickup on their route planner for the day, so they have to stop and get your packages. When USPS picks them up you get an email that they have done so. I worked for Fedex for 25 yrs so that's how I know about this stuff.

I wonder why it is only $10 for you. I'm seeing $20 if I schedule a pickup outside of my normal delivery window. I always try to schedule a pickup if I know in time, even if my packages are small enough to fit in the mailbox. If I leave them in the mailbox, most often they won't get scanned on pickup, but if I schedule the pickup and leave them on the porch there is a greater chance they will be scanned. I've been scheduling pickups for years. If I miss the deadline to set one up and I have a package to go out, I'll put a note in the mailbox asking the carrier to pick up the package on the porch.

I like getting the email that confirms they have picked them up, but it won't protect you if they don't scan the packages. I had one package go missing once. They confirmed picking it up but it was never scanned.

Yep that's what I do. He just doesn't come by some days even though I put in a request. If it happens again next week though I will call in to complain because it is backing me up too much in shipping.

Are you in a rural area? If so that's why it might be more. I live 25 south of Philadelphia. Used to be very rural, but in past 10 yrs population has exploded. Maybe that's why $20?

Hi, sorry for my late response. I couldn't remember where we had had this conversation in order to respond. No, I'm not in a rural area. I have regular delivery. I see the $20 if I scroll down the page even before I enter my address. I wonder if it is based on my ip address. Maybe the charge is different depending on the state. I can't find anywhere on USPS.com that actually states the actual charge so it might vary.usps pickup window.PNG
