Glad to help!

BTW, the reason I say "usually" about countering is because if the offer isn't even close to the ballpark, it's obvious the buyer isn't willing to pay what I'm looking for. In those cases, I decline. Sometimes I'll counter, to which the buyer will counter another lowball. At that point, it's a "decline."

For example, if I have a $100 item and get an offer for $20, that's not even close. Sometimes I'll counter anyway with $75-ish as the best I can do. If the buyer comes back with $25, clearly, she and I are on different planets and I don't counter again. I just decline.

I don't know how some buyers can offer $20 bucks on a $100 item as per your example. I would be embarrassed/ashamed to submit such an offer.

Customers kill me o Ebay. I had a pre-owned Bal listed for $700 with free shpg, no best offer auction. I receive an email from a woman who told me she liked my bag and would take it for $625. I told her thank you, but this was not a Best Offer auction and $700 was as low as I would go. I waited a week and got it from someone else. There are some nuts out there!

i think the reason we all get people like this is because some sellers work with them, and then they figure others will too. if someone asks me to lower the price - and it's not a best offer listing - i usually counter back with a $1 reduction:p, block them, and move along. the worst are the people who ask for shipping reductions when the rate charged is exact - they obviously don't mail items enough to know postage rates.

I believe EBay is encouraging people to contact sellers with offers even if there is no BO.

I have a BO listing and received an offer of less than 30% of what I had as BIN. I declined and did not bother to counter.

They are.

I've had buyers message me regarding items that have no BO and I've noticed when responding, there is an option to send an offer. (I ignore it)

I am hoping I did not make a mistake:( I sold a bag over 1400 to a buyer that has left many negative feedbacks for sellers. I have over 1000 all 100% positive and I am nervous about this one. I always check the feedback of my buyers to see how they treat the seller. This one has left 10 negatives for sellers. I then look the seller up and check their feedback to see if they have other negatives. Some did but it looked like 5 have all 100% percent positive except hers. Oh boy, I know I shouldn't worry about it but how can you not be a bit concerned? I am confident in my item and took many detailed pics so I even shipped the same day as most of her complaints seem to be around shipping. The positive feedback she did leave for sellers were like, "Seller bent over backwards to make things right" and "Seller accepted return after disagreement about item" Wow. Anyway keep your fingers crossed for me and I have to remember the mantra no partial refunds only return for refund. I am prob worried for nothing but some buyers leave negative feedback quite freely.

I have a $500 bag listed for $80 because it has some minor corner wear and the brand hasn't been selling well. I get a message asking if I will take $40. I say no and get a message back that they got a bag in EUC for "only $42". Lol... good for you??

Ok...I just had a very STRANGE experience! I contacted a seller about a Coach handbag they had listed - just asking about shipping, perfume or smoke in the house etc. She answered everything yesterday except not directly on me asking about shipping UPS instead of USPS. This morning she sent a message and said sorry no UPS. Fine. I would have paid extra. Then within an hour (and I did not respond to her "no to UPS" message at all - I get this from her

"sorry I do have a perfume about MY HOUSE- the perfume of GODs righteousness that as a child of the most high has bestowed on me.

Don't contact me again"

She addressed it to two names neither of which were mine and I never told her mine. She ended all auctions that were listed yesterday, relisted and changed here seller ID name. I was thinking....hmmm...maybe someone hacked her account or she went off the deep end. I wanted to make an offer so to test waters I sent one more message telling her I wanted to make an offer and asking if I paid today if she could ship tomorrow. Reply was simply "Hell No"

Very, very weird. I was polite the entire time so not sure what happened!

So funny update. Couldn't stop thinking about the handbag the somewhat crazy seller had listed. So over the weekend decided to make an offer and see what would happen.

Well, she accepted my offer within 1/2 hour. No counter offer, no issues! Maybe something possessed the seller that day last month. :-) I received the handbag today...perfect! No perfumes of the Gods either.

Happy ending.....

Curious if anyone thinks this is suspicious.

I had a new buyer (zero feedback) purchase an item from me. I promptly sent the item out. I used an eBay label so tracking was automatically uploaded onto the transaction page. Item was shipped and delivered 3 days ago. Last night, I get a message from the buyer asking where her package was and the tracking information. I responded that I printed an eBay label so the tracking is on the invoice/under her purchased information. I also manually copy/paste the tracking info onto the message. In addition, I told her that her package was delivered 3 days ago. I haven't heard a peep.

To me, when I read her message, it seemed like she thought I didn't have a tracking number and was trying to fish for a INR case. If she didn't receive her package or if it was stolen off her porch, I think she would have at least come back to tell me that was the case. I mean, I would have been no help, but I thought it was weird that she demanded to know where her package was and the tracking number so she can "track it down".

I've had this happen many times and once I double check with the buyer to verify that they still claim to "haven't received it," I send a message along the lines of the following. Once I've sent that message, I've rarely heard back. In the few cases where I did get responses, they were along the lines of "Sorry, my husband/child/neighbor/cleaning lady.....took the package and forgot to give it to me"

Dear buyer,

I'm sorry you didn't receive your package. USPS tracking number ___(fill in blank)___ shows that your item was delivered on ___(date)_______ at ____(time)______. If after checking with your carrier, family and/or neighbors and you still can't locate it, please let me know and I'll begin an investigation process through USPS since it would appear the package was stolen following its delivery. The postal service takes mail theft and fraud seriously and they'll try to get to the bottom of what happened to your purchase.

Let me know if and when I should contact them.
Sincerely,
Seller

Thanks BB! I've bookmarked your post. So far, it's been crickets on her end. I rather not stir the pot until I absolutely have to.

I'm so happy for you! I know you really wanted that bag and I'm glad the story has a happy ending.

hi ladies, have any of you brought something with a paypal gift card and did a return? did eBay reinstate the balance back to the card? I brought an item that's SNAD, waiting for the seller to refund me but the purchase was made with partial gift cards i had. i was wondering how the whole return process works with the gift cards in play. TIA for your help

Is anyone else having problems revising a listing? I can't edit any of my listings. I just get an error message that the quick listing tool isn't working.

eta:it seems to be working now :)
