eBay Chat Thead... woohoo!!!

My request for a return was resolved fairly easily....After not hearing from the seller all weekend following their agreement for a full refund, I emailed them and informed them I would be reaching out to Ebay if we weren't able to resolve this by midweek, and the next morning, I received an email and a full refund. Sometimes, it can take a little initiative to get the ball rolling, but in my experience [albeit somewhat limited], most people are willing to choose cooperative approaches as opposed to combative ones.

Lots of strange and lonely people in the world.
You said it perfectly...loneliness can really drive a person a bit mad

Hello ladies,

I don't know what is happening but I'm getting more scare to buy from eBay. I purchase a watch described as perfect condition, I was very happy until it arrived today. The watch is broken :( it's beautiful but it's useless. Since eBay updated their policies I have to wait until tomorrow to open an item not as described case. I emailed the seller but no response. I guess after this is over I won't buy things from eBay for a while.

Ok...I just had a very STRANGE experience! I contacted a seller about a Coach handbag they had listed - just asking about shipping, perfume or smoke in the house etc. She answered everything yesterday except not directly on me asking about shipping UPS instead of USPS. This morning she sent a message and said sorry no UPS. Fine. I would have paid extra. Then within an hour (and I did not respond to her "no to UPS" message at all - I get this from her

"sorry I do have a perfume about MY HOUSE- the perfume of GODs righteousness that as a child of the most high has bestowed on me.

Don't contact me again"

She addressed it to two names neither of which were mine and I never told her mine. She ended all auctions that were listed yesterday, relisted and changed here seller ID name. I was thinking....hmmm...maybe someone hacked her account or she went off the deep end. I wanted to make an offer so to test waters I sent one more message telling her I wanted to make an offer and asking if I paid today if she could ship tomorrow. Reply was simply "Hell No"

Very, very weird. I was polite the entire time so not sure what happened!

I think I bought a purse from the perfume lady. (no comment on the source of this particular perfume - but probably not heaven sent (scent) ha ha) The bag is very, very, very fragrant and the seller wasn't polite at all when I requested a return.

I used to buy and sell things on eBay all the time. Other than ridiculous low ball offers, I've never had any problems. I've never asked to return something though. Will never buy anything again that can't be returned! (I'm not the kind of slimeball that would not return it in pristine condition either)

Just want to vent. I got a return request for an item I sold and the buyer said it doesn't match the description "this doesn't look like brand new in box condition"

Well yes you're right because it was sold as used and plenty of photos were included so you could see the wear...it's a s'well water bottle so there are scratches especially on the bottom but the point is it wasn't sold or described as new.

Just annoying is all because this person clearly didn't read the description or review the photos. Had this happen a few weeks back with a pair of espadrilles and I got my 1st negative after over 10 years on eBay and expect this will likely result in another.

There should be some big flashing warning like did you even bother reading the description or review the photos before you commit to buy...and people still wouldn't bother because eBay thinks we're all nordstoms and will just accept returns of every and anything.

Did you accept it? I had something like this and I didn't accept it. Ebay took my side. I would fight this.

I didn't actually have the option to decline at least not that I could see so I offered a partial refund and pointed out that the photos and description were clear. The buy actually sent me pictures and I was like did you even read the listing or review the photos before you purchased. Because the things she photographed were nothing new I too had those same things photographed and in the listing. Then they said the pictures were too small so I took screen shots and pointed out that even on eBay mobile the pictures were clear and that if she was using her computer that she could easily mouse over the photos to zoom. So ridiculous it's like read people read! Then she keeps saying it's not new and I'm like duh I know that...hence why it was listed as used!

Again just ranting about this nuisance.

I offer "best offer". And got a message of "what is the lowest offer you would accept". I should have replied "what is the higher offer you would give". Lol. :p

I love it!
I usually reply with, "I have a best offer option. Make an offer through the listing and if I can't afford your offer, I usually counter with a price I can afford to sell for."

I never disclose my lowest!

Customers kill me o Ebay. I had a pre-owned Bal listed for $700 with free shpg, no best offer auction. I receive an email from a woman who told me she liked my bag and would take it for $625. I told her thank you, but this was not a Best Offer auction and $700 was as low as I would go. I waited a week and got it from someone else. There are some nuts out there!

One time I got a message that reads:

Don't play tricks. Just tell me your lowest price the first time. I am a serious buyer.

My reply:

I'm a serious seller so I'm willing to let this go at $xxx.

She then kept coming back with counteroffers.

I wrote back:

You told me to give you my best price the first time and I did. It doesn't seem to me you are the serious buyer as you claimed to be.

Blocked!

I get those verbatim messages all the time on my listings that aren't even BO. It's really annoying.

^^That's good.

Going to start using it.

Glad to help!

BTW, the reason I say "usually" about countering is because if the offer isn't even close to the ballpark, it's obvious the buyer isn't willing to pay what I'm looking for. In those cases, I decline. Sometimes I'll counter, to which the buyer will counter another lowball. At that point, it's a "decline."

For example, if I have a $100 item and get an offer for $20, that's not even close. Sometimes I'll counter anyway with $75-ish as the best I can do. If the buyer comes back with $25, clearly, she and I are on different planets and I don't counter again. I just decline.
