Whether it's a case of mistaken identity or not, I don't know.

But I suspect after answering all your questions about odors, perfume, smoke and whatever else you asked, the request to change shipping was the straw that broke the camel's back. Sellers offer a shipping service they feel comfortable with and UPS just isn't one she uses.

(And to tell the truth, I think I'd bail on - and block - a buyer who tried to get me to change my shipping method to a method I choose not to use.)

Usually there's a reason why sellers do what they do and if you don't like sellers to use USPS, find another seller who does us UPS.

Well, I will politely disagree. : -)

I have sold (and purchased) on eBay and I would much rather have people ask questions before they bid/buy, I want them to be happy and know what they are purchasing and feel comfortable. Plus, the listing had NO information on the bag accept style and color. No mention of how she shipped, if from smoke free home, nothing. So I feel no matter what, my questions were warranted. With the shipping question - I told her I would pay the extra if UPS fees were more. She said no, and that was fine. I made no other comment about UPS. Personally I would do it for a buyer - no big deal. I have had other sellers ship UPS for me and they just charge me the extra.

Anyway, I have never had someone come out of left field. I know you think I may have asked too many questions. But, she answered my last one and I did not reply and then she sent me that rude one. Plus, I ask questions because I have had issues where sellers do not disclose true condition.

Thanks for your reply.

Your questions were completely understandable considering her vague listing. I think you should thank your lucky stars that you did not end up committing to a transaction with this person, they seem unstable.

Thank you :-) I am really disappointed because I probably would have bought it if the seller wouldn't have been so rude. (because I wanted the handbag)

Understand that I don't take issue with your questions about the item.

I do disagree with requesting a change in the method of shipping and although your questions about the item were legitimate and warranted, I suspect she was frustrated with the shipping request.

No problem BeenBurned! She didn't have a shipping method listed...only Standard (no reference to USPS or UPS or anything). So really she should not have been so rude when I asked. And, I left it alone after she said no. Thanks for your input and for listening.

Ok...I just had a very STRANGE experience! I contacted a seller about a Coach handbag they had listed - just asking about shipping, perfume or smoke in the house etc. She answered everything yesterday except not directly on me asking about shipping UPS instead of USPS. This morning she sent a message and said sorry no UPS. Fine. I would have paid extra. Then within an hour (and I did not respond to her "no to UPS" message at all - I get this from her

"sorry I do have a perfume about MY HOUSE- the perfume of GODs righteousness that as a child of the most high has bestowed on me.

Don't contact me again"

She addressed it to two names neither of which were mine and I never told her mine. She ended all auctions that were listed yesterday, relisted and changed here seller ID name. I was thinking....hmmm...maybe someone hacked her account or she went off the deep end. I wanted to make an offer so to test waters I sent one more message telling her I wanted to make an offer and asking if I paid today if she could ship tomorrow. Reply was simply "Hell No"

Very, very weird. I was polite the entire time so not sure what happened!

I'm sorry but I can't stop laughing here.

That's one of the weirdest messages I have ever seen. She sounds unstable. Of course selling on eBay can do that to a person.

You are telling me about the "weirdest". All replies before that were completely normal. And like I have said....she sent me one message right before this that said "no UPS". I never replied to it and then got the "perfume of the gods" message. What?

Very cute!

Hello Ladies,

I'm posting here in hope someone can help me. I bought a jewelry item on ebay about 17 days ago. The seller was very helpful and accepted my best offer. I was happy and even more when I saw her location was close to mine, so the item should be delivered shortly or so I thought. After 5 days of waiting I messaged the seller and ask her if she shipped the item (it wasn't mark as shipped). She message me back saying she lost the tracking information but she shipped it and it should be arriving soon (was this a red flag?). I understood and waited, but the item didn't come that week.

After 17 days I send her another message saying I haven't received anything yet. She replied she went to the post office that morning and they told her my item was delivered. How can this be? I thought she lost the tracking? How can she track the package then? Furthermore, she said that if I did not like the item to simply return it for a refund. It's clear the seller thinks I have the package. No item was delivered to me, I am not sure if I should wait a little more (maybe USPS is taking a while) or open a case with ebay. The seller hasn't respond to me and I don't think she will.

Any thoughts? Anything is helpful, I utterly confused.

Open an INR (item not received) claim with ebay now. The seller will have to post the tracking number in order to win the case. If she can't produce the tracking number or the tracking information doesn't show it was delivered, you'll get your money back. After 30 days it will be too late for you to open a claim, so do it now. 17 days is plenty of time. On your ebay purchase history it will tell you the estimated delivery date. You can open a claim as long as that date is past.

Thank you very much! I will open a INR claim. Ebay is great but it can also be a very dark place.
