I'm new here, and I don't know if this is the correct place to do this. But I have recently purchased a pair of authentic UGG's from a seller whose located in Manchester, U.K. After some delay in shipment (and after already having paid for the item) the seller let's me know that the item is being shipped from China and not Manchester, U.K. as described!

Anyways so after a month I received the item, and yep, it turned out to be a fake. I requested an authentication from authenticate4u, and Paypal (since I have started a dispute and later escalated it to a claim, since the seller wanted me to ship it to a non-verified address by Paypal, in China) and they first ruled in my favor. But I filed that it was an imitation, so I sent them an e-mail telling them that it is illegal to ship counterfeit items and if it were to be seized by customs I can expect a nice fine and so on. (this is also my first time with this problem).

So they requested proof that the item was counterfeit, and so I requested one from authenticate4u, whom have found it to be a clear counterfeit item. Now Paypal has sent me an e-mail today that they will not be accepting the authentication. I have also e-mailed them letting them know exactly how I feel. How can they sometimes accept authentications from the same person and sometimes reject it? And I demanded a list of people whom they would accept since I do not have a tree with money growing on it. I definitely gave them a piece of my mind, they didn;t even let me know on which grounds they are not accepting the authentication. :-s
Isn't authenticate4you an approved ebay/PP authenticator? If you aren't getting results from PP, try calling ebay and see if you can get someone who will do the right thing. You might have to fax them a copy of the report.

Another option is that if you funded the PP payment with a credit card, file a dispute with them.

Thank you so much for responding to my post, it means a lot! I am going crazy right now.

Yes, as far as I know they are, but Paypal has rejected their authentication nonetheless. I attached the pdf file for them in the resolution center and they have seen it (this way they get it right away, since when you fax it it can take up to 4 days before they look at it).

I do not understand why this has happened. I have sent them about 20 photo's, though I have also included 3 photo's in which I personally have compared the boot I received with an authenticate UGG boot, and I have made circles where you can see the comparison, in Paint.

Authenticate4u, added these photo's I made in paint in the repport, maybe that made them appear amature-ish? I also told Paypal that they have accepted the reports from authenticate4u before (which I have read on this forum), is there a place where I can find proof of this? I told them that how can they one time accept their reports and another time dismiss it? That it doesn't make sense and that I cannot keep paying authenticators until they find one they like.

They have given me till December 22nd to come with other proof that the item is a fake.

P.S. Since I have already filed a claim with Paypal, I thought I couldn't go to eBay for help?

These are some of the photo's I provided them with my own comparison (along with the other 15 regular photo's).

They used two of these photo's in the report, so I thought maybe it made them appear as amateur-ish to Paypal? But that would be odd since they apparently are approved by Paypal/eBay.

I do not know, but I didn't expect them to use the photo's in the report, it was just so I can show them (authenticate4u) why I find the item to be a fake.

Thank you to anyone who will respond and try to help, I really appreciate it.

Appeal the decision because they are wrong. Also, call them and ask for a supervisor. If their own approved authenticators deem an item fake, they are supposed to accept that finding.

How can I find out that they are an approved authenticator? I have read that on this forum, therefore I know that, but is there a way in proving that Authenticate4u is officially approved by them?

They Paypal is from the Netherlands. They have sent me an e-mail to provide further proof that the item is fake once again, so I don't know how I can appeal? I'm so sorry for my questions, this is my first time and I am still quite new with this.

They haven't provided any reasons as to why they have dismissed the authentication by authenticate4u, the Paypal here also charged 10 cents per minute (and when I look at the bill it's actually more than that), it's even a possibility for them to hang up on you..I see this not going well. Especially considering that they can just end it within those 10 days if they don't agree wit the authentication that I have provided.

I very much appreciate your help and time, nobody I know has ever dealt with this either.

Let me do a bit of asking around.

Again, did you pay with a credit card through paypal? if so, just file a dispute with the c..c. company. It's probably the easiest way to fix this.

Omg I cannot believe you would do that for me, thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have no idea as to how grateful I am.

I have payed with my creditcard, though I don't know how it works with the whole chargeback, or if that would be simpler.

Do I have to end the dispute with Paypal in order to be able to do that? I do find it highly annoying, since I did get the authentication from someone who is reputable and they didn't accept it and now to have to go through all of this, because of a seller who listed a fake item as authentic and lied about the item location as well.

Not only that, the seller claims to have never seen the item! And he asked me how he can he know it really is fake! I am at lost for words. I mean the fact that it was shipped from China alone imo is proof enough, and the pictures speaks volumes, I cannot believe that this is how Paypal deals with things.

I'm glad to hear you used your credit card to fund the payment. Since you used the credit card for the payment, I'd recommend calling paypal and telling them that since they are refusing to refund even though you supplied a letter from an approved authenticator, you have no option but to file for a chargeback with the c.c. company.

My guess is that in order to avoid the chargeback, they'll issue the refund, but if they still deny it, follow the dispute instructions on the back of your statement. Include a copy of the un-authentication from A4U.

Once you file, your c.c. company will notify paypal of the chargeback and they'll close the case.

So today Paypal sends me this email =)

Beste xxxxxxxxxxxx,

Bedankt dat u contact heeft opgenomen met PayPal.

Dit is geescaleerd door mijn collega en we hebben het volgende antwoord gekregen:

Case has been reviewed and we do not accept online documents from "Authenticate4U.com", we only accept documents from mypoupette.com and Carol Diva; therefore, I've emailed buyer confirming that they will have to resubmit documents to be able to continue with investigation.

We hebben het liefst een verklaring van bijvoorbeeld een werknemer van een schoenenwinkel, die daadwerkelijk de Uggs heeft gezien.

Met vriendelijke groet,
Martijn

Unbelievable! They said that they would prefer for me to get a statement from a store, from someone who has seen it in person. UGG dealers do not give authentications, I have tried calling many of them, they might look at the item but they will not write a statement with letterhead and so on. What the hell is this?!

I think I am just going to file a chargeback with my credit card company, Paypal can go to hell.

P.S.: I have called a callcenter for UGG/Deckers, and a representative told me he could look at it and send me an e-mail if I'd want to, but he can't add a letterhead and so on, but he can add his contact information etc. I don't know if that would be okay? Nor how I could attach it in the Paypal Resolution Center, since if I'd fax it it could take up to four days for them to look at it.

*Sigh* that's BS that they aren't accepting an authentication from an approved authenticator, yet they say they accept MyPoupette, the very company who has scammed hundreds of people out of their money by accepting payments for services not performed. Again, I call BS on Paypal.

Again, the chargeback is probably your safest best but since Uggs offered to send you a letter with contact information, you can save the PDF and upload it to Photobucket. Paypal will look at the direct link to the Photobucket image, but whether they'll accept it is another story. You have nothing to lose by trying.

But also, file for the chargeback.

I know it is even more confusing that the representative from the Netherlands said they would prefer a statement from someone from a shoestore, someone who has actually seen the item in person. What the hell? UGG dealers do not give authentications right? I have called a lot of them and all have told me they couldn't give me one.

I'm going to call my cc company tomorrow and I'll also ask CarolDiva for a authentication in case they as well wouldn't accept the one from Authenticate4u -.-

Since I cannot make threads yet I'll post this here. I am infuriated with Paypal and have sent them this e-mail today.

Dear sir/madam,

After having contacted numerous representatives at Paypal, without getting a response back in a timely matter, I have decided to file a chargeback with my credit card company.

This is not what I call service, not that it matters to Paypal, since it has become quite apparent that Paypal's so called services are not what they once were.

Decisions made are not based on policy but on what a random representative deems fit in a certain situation, with this resulting in inconsistent results in similar situations, giving its customers a feeling of insecurity. One should never underestimate the word of mouth.

Paypal has accepted the services of Authenticate4 hundreds of times, and this particular representative is recommending mypoupette, which is an authentication service with a very bad reputation due to their scamming of people for a service they have never received while keeping their clients money.

Is this the kind of behavior that Paypal is promoting? Recommending scam artists to its clients along with letting people who sell counterfeit items have their way easily, even after the client has provided proof from a reputable authentication service.

Aside from all of this, Paypal's representatives told me to go to a store to get the UGG boots looked at, clearly the representatives at Paypal are uneducated and incompetent, since any representative dealing with counterfeit items at Paypal should know that UGG Australia does not permit its official dealers to give out any authentication letters, therefore victims of falsely advertised authentic items (thus counterfeit items) have to rely on services of online authenticators, which Paypal is very well aware of.

Thanks to the great incompetence and bad services accompanied by the promotion of scam artists that is now Paypal, I will turn to my credit card company instead.

Yours faithfully,

XXXXXXXXXX
