You should double check this with the subforum proper, but I believe that Malleries is mostly authentic. You can also do a search.. I know they've been mentioned before, but not for a long time. I think Malleries is supposed to be very picky about who they allow to sell on there. But again, double check, because I don't have personal experience with them.

Sounds great! Thanks for all your help! I've always dismissed that site bc I assumed they weren't legit. But I'll def check them out now! :)

Not specifically ebay related, but it's shipping related, so I hope that's ok:

I need to ship something to a friend in the UK, I'm in the US. Suggestions on what method to use? It's not necessarily a speedy shipment that's needed, but I would like to have some sort of tracking on it, even insurance if possible so that I can recoup any of my costs (not that much) if it was to go astray. Suggestions?

Hello everyone. I hope this is the right place to ask this question, if not please move. Anyways I've been watching this item on eBay the past couple days And for a while it hasn't moved but now it has and looking at the history I'm not sure if it's a newbie or shill bidding?

http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p4340.l2565&item=200587515621

I'm not trying to assume it is but I dont want to place a bid if someone is doing something fishy. Any feedback would be great. Thank you in advance

The auction is over now but just to answer your question... if you're referring to the one bidder placing a couple of bids in a row, a couple dollars up? People do that to increase their own minimum bid if they can't keep an eye on it down the road, it doesn't mean anything fishy is going on. I've changed my mind on how much to bid on several things and have done that too. This item had several different bidders I'm thinking it probably ended at fair-auction price without interference. Hope that helps! :)

Thanks for replying. I got paranoid after reading this thread and how crazy people can get lol. I forgot about the auction but it did end at a good price!

Just wanted to vent... I emailed an eBay seller asking if she could post or send me more pics, which are necessary for authentication of a $2000+ designer bag, (serial number, tags, etc.) She wrote back saying I'm asking for too much information. Ummm wtf? I guess you don't want to sell your bag for the most amount of money possible? Oh well...

Really? Normally I would surmise this was either a newbie high-end handbag seller or a fake bag seller, but given your experience and collection, I imagine that you vet your sellers pretty thoroughly. Wow rude and/or ignorant of this seller. And how annoying and disappointing for you.

Did she offer any explanation for why that was too much information? (Maybe she is afraid someone would steal her photographs?)

I am so sick and tired of seeing my bags' photos being used in other peoples' litings.
This seller took a few of my photos and using it in her listing without my permission.
I think this not only dishonest, it is pretty unethical.
I would never have the nerve to do something like that. How can these people justify this? She has over 1326 FB and has been around much longer than I have. She should know better?
I see that she has that bag herself too but is using 3 of my photos on the manequinne and others.
What should I do?
Should I let it be or report?

It sounds like in your case, since she has her own photos up as well, she just doesn't know better. A lot of people on the internet don't. So I might try to contact her first and ask her to take them down. But if you don't want to do that, then definitely report her.

I wouldn't care if someone used my photos if and ONLY IF:
1. they asked first
2. put a disclaimer saying those photos were for example only and not of the actual item being sold
3. also had plenty of their own photos up.

But I know most people don't like having their photos used and people should ask and just not do it if they aren't going to ask.

Thank you thepoppet. My thoughts exactly. If she wrote to me and asked me do you mind if I use your photo of the same bag on the mannequin because you did such a good job etc... ( just to be polite)
I would have said; fine. But to look for bags and suddenly come upon your own bag in your own home listed by a complete stranger, is a shock and; "How dare you?" I just had to vent and didn 't want to post her id here to embarass her. but I think this is pretty dishonest.
Thanks for your thoughts thepoppet. I will write to her now.

Some people are really clueless and don't get how rude that is. When I see stuff like that I always think it's probably someone like my mom who isn't very computer savvy and doesn't understand the rulez of the internetz. They just think: "Oh, I can just find another picture of the item and use it. The internet is so useful!"

Which, overall, is a lot more harmless than the counterfeiters who know exactly what they are doing and trying to con a buyer. Still irritating though. And venting totally understood.
