FlipDiver, No Response. I accepted the cancellation.

As a frequent buyer I try to encourage new sellers to be good sellers. It's a tough call - I feel responsible to all the great sellers to make sure to boost them with frequent shopping, cutting off bad ones. But if people make mistakes and are polite and truthful I'm usually willing to forgive once. It's rare that an experienced/trusted seller disappoints, but it happens sometimes in error and once in a while from greed. From a buyers perspective, if someone tries to pull one over on me it's their HUGE loss when they are dropped from my favorites list.

It's funny how you can go for months with nothing but positive experiences and then the hassles come in clusters.

My average eBay personal experience statistics:
GOOD BUYING Experiences 95% :D
OK BUYING Experiences 3%
BAD BUYING Experiences 2%

Selling - less than 10 sales: 60/40 good to bad outcomes

More like ClusterF***s. I have a long list of blocked bidders where I also add bad sellers.

FlipDiver, (LOL, I love the image of scuba diving in CLs!)
Cluster indeed!
I just mailed /returned that darn H watch today. It takes 2-3 weeks for items to get from Alaska to the UK, cost me $42 in postage for their mistake. I sure will be relieved when the money is refunded to my PayPal account. I wonder if they will include the $25 that I payed for shipping it up here... I just want my $1,300 back! I learned a great deal from this experience so far and am much wiser and certainly more weary.

Has anyone purchased an eBay item from a reputable seller, outside of eBay, so that it could be discounted further since the seller won't pay eBay fees and can pass the savings to you? Money would be transferred directly thru PayPal, referencing the eBay listing number...

No, but that was offered to me. So glad I didn't go through with it because I later found out that the seller had scammed another PFer.

My question: My auction ended 1.5 weeks ago & the buyer paid with an eCheck thru Paypal on the 3rd day. Last week I got a message from Paypal stating that the buyer's bank declined it & Paypal would retry in 3 days. At this rate, it'll be 3 weeks before it gets settled to see if it goes thru or not. Has anyone experienced this before? I'm really thinking of cancelling the transaction & selling to the next highest bidder.

After I emailed a seller asking for a better date code picture I was offered a lower price on an LV bag IF I paid outside of eBay with direct funds. I simply didn't respond.

There are folks who have done it with success (you can do a search) but I think the common denominator was that it was a seller whom they have bought from before.

Now that PP offers buyer protection for SNAD cases on all purchases (not just Ebay), there's less risk but you would want to make sure that the invoice you got from the seller was for "goods" including a description and such rather than send money as a personal transaction.

Also, if they want to avoid Ebay fees, they could list it on Bonanza and direct you to that listing. Then the fee is only 10$.

But a lot of people wouldn't risk it.

Did you contact the buyer about this? Maybe they can send you money without it being an echeck?

I (as seller) won a SNAD. Took 2 whole months and 2 days. I sold a tote in December and the buyer chose parcel post. There was bad weather in the midwest so USPS re-routed the package.

When it arrived, I asked him to close the dispute. Instead he tried to extort $50 plus out of me, stating the bag lost it's appeal (jacka**). I wouldn't refund him so he filed a SNAD. I escalted.

Sold item Dec 30 and it took until today but I finally have my money back.

Buyer (mentioned in NPB post a while ago when he first opened dispute: karlsjs )

I've purchased from a reputable eBay seller, outside of eBay, only by learning where they sell items online on their own web sites. The cost was slightly less to me, I assume because their overhead costs are less by not having the eBay fees to recover.

There was NOT a reference to an eBay listing number, on their sales site, but once I purchased directly they ended an eBay auction listing that I was watching (apparently same item, no bids yet) since item was no longer available. It seems like a gray area, I've since wondered if this process (without the eBay reference) is an acceptable practice for sellers & buyers?

only from trust worthy sellers. I guess. You can pay with paypal as goods payment, and use credit card that linked to that paypal account as funding source. At the worst case, you can dispute with credit card company if your transaction goes wrong/ you got fake and damaged goods.

Soo... sorry for the dumb question, but what is Malleries? Is it like eBay/Bonz? Maybe not auction style, but private sellers listing their own items for sale?

Consignment and also where other consignments sell. Basically, there are other stores on Malleries (like on Ebay) but they are supposed to be the real deal or they get kicked off of Malleries. Those stores are consignment usually.

Thanks! So I guess the reliability/authenticity of each Malleries listing is on a case by case basis too, similar to eBay? Or does it seem like there are more fakes on there, like on iOffer?

You should double check this with the subforum proper, but I believe that Malleries is mostly authentic. You can also do a search.. I know they've been mentioned before, but not for a long time. I think Malleries is supposed to be very picky about who they allow to sell on there. But again, double check, because I don't have personal experience with them.
