argh. evil crazy buyer who filed a case against me because the cl macarena wedges were too heavy and i didn't "disclose the exact weight" of the shoe (they are wedges with metal chains on them!!!!!!!!!!! of course they are heavy) and LOST her claim on eBay just filed a credit card chargeback against me. OMG driving me nuts. Some people are just despicable!

This is getting annoying. I purchased an HH eyeglasses case two days ago and the seller is ignoring ALL my emails on Bonanza, funny because this girl is a tpf member too. I noticed she only responds if the buyer is a tpfer, but if the buyer isn't then she ignores all emails. It's only $20 but I'm irritated because I want the item so badly. I'm so stupid, I should have just ordered on Hayden Harnett's website instead. Way better CS, too. If she doesn't respond by Monday I'm going to raise heck.

This is going to be the last time I'll ever buy anything on Bonanza, period.

Do you mean you already paid for the item and she is not shipping it to you?

hey guys..need some advice. I have a Tiffany & co DBTY necklace listed on ebay. This guy wants to buy it but wants me to register at an escrow/ins co and then he will pay me thru that which he says is linked to pay pal and I will get the payment deposited in my pay pal account. he said he is blocked from pay pal because he has a claim pending that he bought something and the seller didnt send the item. Also, he is located in France and he says he will pay all shipping costs through this escrow company. Does this sound fishy?? what do you think, is it a scam? thanks

Help, I need advice on an eBay return process for a refund.

The quick story is this:
I bought a 1.3K Hermes watch from a trusted seller whom I've happily purchased (H scarves) many times from for over a year. Watch arrived, not as described, very worn, scratched, not new, even watch band was different than was in auction photos. I contacted seller, sent pics, seller kindly apologized for the mistake and offered a refund after I return the item. I said OK, will return it, insure it, send it on Monday.

Here's the catch: I'm in the US - returning item to the UK and I want to insure it for full value to protect myself. But seller has now emailed me back and asked me to declare the item as a gift of only $40 value!

If I don't do as they say, will I anger them, causing a problem for my refund? If I do as they ask, that's dishonest and probably illegal. I assume it will cost them some $ or possibly flag them as a commercial operation if I declare the full value. Do I have this correct, or can someone further explain the issue with customs here?

How is the BEST way to handle this? All input will be greatly appreciated!

The best way to handle it is to insure it for the full value of what you paid, and email the seller stating exactly that. If they get angry, so be it. Message them through eBay only, not an outside email account.

Thank You, FlipDiver!
Exactly as I had hoped/planned to do. But it's great to have this confirmed here.

I'm a frequent, good eBay buyer of designer items, and really enjoy it (the eBay shopping experience). I've never had this happen before. I've only sold on eBay a couple times and am planning to thin out my collections by selling some more soon... but am quickly learning the ropes of what a slippery slope eBay can be for both honest buyers and sellers!

Must share. Here's another recent buying experience (gone bad - no big deal but annoying) that I agreed to cancel at the request of the seller. I won a sweet Chico's sweater. Here's what the seller emailed to me after I paid for the sweater:
"I am going to be honest with you. I am going to lose money even shipping this sweater out. I am in college and funds are really tight right now. I would appreciate it very much if you would accept my item cancel. I have issued you a full refund. Thank you."
My Reply:
Hi, To renege on a transaction is uncouth. Most buyers would have skewered your seller rating with negative feedback. Buyers spend loads of time & energy researching to shop & win auctions. "Customers" are usually highly valued. FYI - In the future: for Clothes - use lg. USPS flat rate envelopes - postage under $5 anywhere in the US. Set a reserve or higher start bid if you expect more profit. eBay has tutorials for new sellers. I hope these ideas are helpful. - Best wishes

Serene, it seems you've had some annoying eBay experiences recently. Did the seller of the sweater respond to your message?

FlipDiver, No Response. I accepted the cancellation.

As a frequent buyer I try to encourage new sellers to be good sellers. It's a tough call - I feel responsible to all the great sellers to make sure to boost them with frequent shopping, cutting off bad ones. But if people make mistakes and are polite and truthful I'm usually willing to forgive once. It's rare that an experienced/trusted seller disappoints, but it happens sometimes in error and once in a while from greed. From a buyers perspective, if someone tries to pull one over on me it's their HUGE loss when they are dropped from my favorites list.

It's funny how you can go for months with nothing but positive experiences and then the hassles come in clusters.

My average eBay personal experience statistics:
GOOD BUYING Experiences 95% :D
OK BUYING Experiences 3%
BAD BUYING Experiences 2%

Selling - less than 10 sales: 60/40 good to bad outcomes
