This Neverfull is 6yrs old. I have never applied any leather conditioner. I use it rain or shine. The reason I love LV is because it is very durable. I also have a Speedy B in DE. I use both whenever I travel. Honestly, I always choose to use the LV bags if there’s any chance of rain because I know the LV bags can take it unlike my other bags.
Absolutely true for me as well! @anj_09 your NF looks like mine, well-loved and beautiful.
Beautiful!!!! Thank you so much for sharing. That’s how I feel about my DE Neverfull, but I officially made my purchase of my Mono Neverfull yesterday! I am SO EXCITED! This thread eased all of my concerns and I absolutely can’t wait to use her!
Congratulations on your Monogram NF, @tanya1729 ! Fab choice!

So many beautiful bags!!! Does treating the leather void the warranty on the bag? I have heard some people say that LV will not work on a bag that has been treated but I don't know if that is true or not. TIA

First, there’s no warranty. Beyond that, this would not be a reason for a repair request to be rejected.

Reasons a repair is refused are: not authentic, or too old to have parts still in stock, or lack of purchase receipt (this last one is reported to be in effect in some situations).

Here is my NF mm. It’s almost two years old and my go-to daily bag for work and errands. I got her to be a workhorse and I am certainly mindful but I do not baby her.

I really like this current color of patina and wish I could keep it this way, so I’ve done a lot of reading up on patina strategies and will do what I can to keep this golden color. But if she darkens it won’t bother me. With the price increases I’m actually tempted to buy a spare NF mm just because if this bag got destroyed I’d be buying another within the hour, haha.

She did get some sprinkle rain damage on the handle attachments as you can see. I now have a handbag raincoat and am more aware if it rains I might put her in a garbage bag if at really raining just because it’s an open tote and I also don’t want to ruin the contents!

Honestly, as the bag has patinaed this has blended in more and more. It doesn’t bother me as again, this is my workhorse bag, but in the future with vachetta I will be more mindful.

You can see that the handles are a little bit darker and somewhat grungier. I’ve had the handles wrapped maybe 25% of the bag’s use. The NF handles seem so flimsy to me so I recently ordered mcraft handle covers off of Etsy to make them a bit more substantial and protect the area of vachetta that gets the most wear. Prior to putting those on I will try and clean off the handles.

The above are before photos of a 2012 chantilly I bought pre loved off Fashionphile. This is my workhorse cross body bag that I am mindful of but do not baby. We got caught in a rainstorm in Chicago one day and faired just fine zipped under my rain coat.

Above are he after photos after I did some very minimal magic erasing to the vachetta under the buckle that had darkened and looked dirty. The vachetta overall was very dry and desert looking so I did a quick pass of Cadillac to moisten it. I’m happy with the results!

For comparison here is my NF pouch used once as a wristlet on a hot summers day.

E408DEF0-D475-46A7-90CD-67948969D3D1.jpeg I like a bag with a honey pantina because you see so many fakes that are super light and fresh looking that is a dead giveaway. It’s also a sign of a bag that is used and has stories. However I also am not into lots of upkeep so I’m feeling the monogram with the black leather instead of vachetta currently. Looking at the world tour speedy and keepalls!

I see that many use apple guard. Can any type of waterproof textile/leather spray be used? Apple guard does not retail in Norway. WilI this keep the vanchetta from tanning? I want to keep the leather as fair/light as possible as I do not like the very dark patina that some LV bags get. If I decide to sell, I see that the bags that sell quick and at a high price has fair leather. Any advice?

There are also people who use collonil carbon pro. It will slow down the patina process but it will not completely stop it.
People often do like to buy bags with light vachetta as they assume it is used less and thus in better condition.

I'm from the UK and there's pretty much always rain. Anyone here from the UK who use their vachetta bags, untreated, no matter what the weather? I don't want to wait until summer (which doesn't last long anyway and still ends up raining) to use my speedy nano.
Once lockdown is over, I really want to stop being cautious and just use and enjoy this cute bag!
