I live in San Diego

So, all of your questions (hand sanitizer, etc)...you seem very concerned with caring for vachetta leather. I never had all of those concerns, questions.

Do you think that if you bought a bag with vachetta, you would baby it, worry about it, maybe not carry it much? It really doesn’t matter how many pictures we post, if you have this much concern over the vachetta, maybe it’s not the right bag for you? I wouldn’t buy a bag that’s going to stress me out ... I wouldn’t be able to use and enjoy it. Maybe a DE canvas would be a better choice?
I lived in San Diego about 20 years ago. The weather is what I miss the MOST! Rain is rare. Absolutely gorgeous just about every single day. I'm jealous.......

That is a good point! I think just reading so much about Vachetta and caring for it has made me nervous haha. I actually don’t think I would baby it too much or worry it too much, I’m planning to just use it as a workhorse I just wanted to make sure that it would be able to handle it!

I do have a DE neverfull in MM that I adore! I used this as my work horse bag and never baby it and I adore it because of that! I just need a bigger one for my new job and I didn’t want to get the same Canvas. I always thought mono was so beautiful but never knew if the bag would hold up against me using it care free :) I’m glad to hear it will!

Someone always comes up with a worst-case scenario pic like this one! Whoever owns that bag has zero regard....it has probably been wet repeatedly, thrown around, handled with truly gross, dirty hands. My point: I think an average NF owner who takes decent care of her bag will never have a bag that looks like that. Geez, you would have to try hard to make it look that bad.

Think I stored my purse in the closet and I live in a fairly humid environment... this is the resulting stains, after corners were cleaned by LV. I’ve had the wider handled purse since 2008 and the neverfull since ?2010... or whenever the neverfull was released in azure. I used to baby the bags in the beginning, not as much now a days (but I’m still kind of fussy abt where I place them). I think the Vachetta has patina’d nicely over the years with some effort at keeping it clean

These are beautiful! I live in New England so it’s actually not too humid here, just sometimes in the summer. I more so worry about rain or snow in the winter! But everyone’s bags are so beautiful it’s really calming my nerves.

How did you make some effort at keeping them clean? Do you use baby wipes? Did you treat any of them before using them?

I do not baby my vachetta. I treat with Apple Garde 2x a year. And move on to enjoy the bag! This was my Artsy after 5 years of regular use. I live in Florida where humidity is basically 90% all the time. Unfortunately my Artsy is no longer with me due to canvas cracking but this will show the vachetta handle after 5 years

Wow!!!!!! This looks absolutely amazing.

Does Apple Garde leave any greasy residue on the Vachetta? I am so hesitant to use anything on it but this looks AMAZING

Absolutely not!! I will admit it is actually terrifying as you are applying it because it makes the vachetta dark and wet looking but dries within seconds to the same satiny/buttery soft finish that fresh vachetta has!

Here is my Melie, it’s brand new and been treated 3x with Apple Garde
