Does anyone find it hard to use a non-designer bag after having designer bags...?

After owning BVs, YES, it is very hard!
But just last week I got a $200 Fossil satchel on sale for $54 because I wanted a satchel and since I cant get a Nightingale right now I said this would do.
I know its leather and Fossil can take a beating, but I told DH that I wanted to run over it with my car a few times to get it to soften like my other bags!!

For me it's about quality. I love all my bags no matter whether premium or not, but I have a hard time using a bag that I know is crappy material or badly designed. Fortunately you can absolutely find excellent quality without paying the premium price as long as you keep your eyes open and don't get too picky about who designed it.
In fact I get much more of a rush when I find something that no one has ever heard of that happens to be beautifully designed and excellent quality materials and is a good price! Then I really feel like it's mine, like I discovered it. :yahoo:

Yes. It really is. I own two coach purses and an LV. The Coach purses are green & pink and the LV is azur. What I really NEED is a basic black purse! Hahahaha. I have an older no name black purse in my closet, but I am saving up to get a black Coach Ashley satchel because I just LOOOVE the quality and craftsmanship of Coach.

Well, I love the quality of LV too, but I probably won't be able to afford one of those for another couple of years, to be honest!

I can't bring myself to purchase a regular designer bag after carrying premier designer. However the regular designer bags that I started with still get as much love as my premier bags... I just won't buy more knowing I can save more and get a "better" bag

Unfortunately, no. I started carrying Dooney's & Coach when I was about 17 or 18-then when I got my hands on my first premium designer bag, a Gucci G-wave with croc detailing, I haven't looked back. Sold/gave away all my Coach & Dooney bags.....

I have no issues using a cute non designer bag to run errands etc. But on the rare occasion where my DH and I can sneak off for a date I only use my designer bags because it feels more dressed up.

I'm not sure if any of you have experienced this but I notice a lot of women I encounter tend to judge another woman's entire bag attitude, even collection, by the bag she is carrying at the moment. For instance, if you are carrying Marc by Marc Jacobs or RED Valentino, she assumes you are because you cannot afford the premier designer versions and not because you might actually just like the bag itself.

If this situation is common, then I can understand why someone would want to stop carrying their non-designer bags altogether for fear of being judged in such a way.

I, however, love all my bags from non-designer to contemporary to premier. They all serve their purpose well. And sometimes, I just want a fun casual look, and whip out a Tokidoki or Harajuku lovers bag. My daughters love the patterns on them, too, so it's a win-win :D

Once I bought my second premier designer bag, I couldn't bring myself to buy even a regular designer bag. Still can't, and that's been about 3 yrs ago. I just can't do it. Don't know why. I just can't. It is the feeling of owning them and carrying them.

And I don't want a visible name plate or logo on mine. It is strictly for me and how they make me feel. I actually don't want family or friends, business acquaintances knowing what I spend on my bags. I would be terribly embarrassed!

Hey that's me too!! My hubby say I'm obsessed with brands but I know I simply won't carry 'non-premium' brands so why waste money on them. No label or any indication of e brands for me too but e bag must be iconic/ signature that only bag lovers will recognize..

Absolutely! Once I got my 1st premium designer many years ago I was hooked!!! My fav before a few weeks ago was Gucci...Gucci....Gucci! I have now added a beautiful Louis Vuitton Empreinte Artsy in Ombré! I cannot wait to get my next Louis Vuitton!

There are two issues here:

(1) The women doing the judging are snobs and I really don't care who gets offended by that statement.
(2) The people actually caring that people MAY be judging them have some issues with insecurity. Unless what you're wearing effects your livelihood in some way (model, entertainer, whatever), it really shouldn't matter to you whether someone thinks that you're "cool" because of your bag/outfit/shoes/etc.

I'm going to wear what I want, when I want. One day it may be a premier designer and the next it may be a $200 fossil bag. People who don't like it can kick rocks. :bagslap:

BTW taho, the above wasn't directed towards you. It was directed toward the general idea that I've seen pop on this site and "real life." There's something really wrong with our societies right now now and it's really annoying me.

I tend not to judge people on their bags, although I can't help but shudder if I see a nasty pleather bag. It doesn't make me think badly of the owner, I just cannot entertain using cheap and nasty bags.

But in terms of the brands, hell no - I wouldn't assume someone was using MBMJ just because they couldn't afford the premier line MJ. In fact, I have an MBMJ Baby Aidan satchel and I LOVE it to bits! It cost me £395 and I don't think any less of it than my two Balenciaga City bags and my Mulberry Alexa, even those were significantly more expensive. I bought the Baby Aidan because of her classic simplicity and there are actually no bags in the premier MJ line that I have ever liked!

I always get invited to my friend's purse party and the fakes or knock-offs look so bad. I really enjoy having a few really nice bags LV is my favorite, but I also have a Chloe, Fendi and a couple of small Prada and Tory Burch for festivals, concerts, etc. I started with Coach, Kate Spade, Isabella Fiore but now I enjoy LV and Gucci. Haven't bought Chanel yet, so expensive.

Absolutely! I agree!
