Does anyone find it hard to use a non-designer bag after having designer bags...?

Kind of...I have a huge basket in my room of about 50 bags from high street brands/department stores and I literally never use them. My Prada/Chanel etc are hung up on hooks by my door and I just always end up grabbing one of those on the way out.

No. Not hard at all if the bag meets certain criteria: Excellent quality, excellent materials, and is unique looking. I tend to go with purses that not a lot of people have, yet staying within a certain price range. When it comes to purses 'broad' is a great way to think because there are so many types to choose from. Just be picky about quality and materials used.

+1 Defintely agree with this!

I do know what you mean. I used just to buy low end chain store bags until one day when i went to the USA for a holiday. I went to tjmaxx and saw a coach bag for quite cheap. Coach is very popular in malaysia...so i bought the bag. After that i am hooked, becuase the quality of high end bags are so good. The lining never ripped and the zip were always functioning. Plus all this expensive designer bags are beautifully made, suitable for day and night, and the classic styles truly last and last.

After that, my next designer bags are two Marc by Marc Jacobs, then followed by two Burberry and then followed by three Mulberry. My most recent purchase is a Dior saddle pouchette. I still use mid range designers though, like in Australia we have a designer called Spencer and Rutherford, and i reaaly like their designs. These bags are still good enough for day to day use to throw around, but when i want to be more dressed up i use my highend designer bags. But also, these high end bags make me feel fab and completes my outfit!

Having said that, all my high end designer bags are bought on sale, two of them are bought second hand and are all under aud1000....i still havent worked up the courage to spend more than aud1000 on a bag!

I have to say, I'm guilty of this, and I wish I wasn't. When I was younger, I used to buy beautifully made, unique bags made by different artisans at craft fairs, etc. I had a bohemian look going and I loved it. But then I had a Coach phase, and that opened the door to higher and higher end designers, and now I really can't go back. :( I still admire beautiful hand crafted bags I see at fairs, but I don't buy them because I know I won't end up wearing them. :( It's pretty sad, actually.

Once I started buying designer, I have to admit it was a bit difficult to go back to non designer. However, I've been making my way back down (price wise) (ie. Balenciaga-->Chanel-->Kate Spade--J.Crew (last 4 most recent brands purchased).

I'm actually enjoying the Kate Spade a lot...it's leather, it's practical and I won't feel a need to baby it like the premier designer bags.

Plus, its nice to be able to buy 3-4 bags and it's still a fraction of the price of a Chanel :D

I'm totally the same way!!! My high end designers give me a certain feel. And I love that feel on special or just certain occasions. But I also love my lower end designers and because I don't need to baby them I have this degree of freedom when wearing them yet still look fabulous!

It's not a problem for me. I love all my bags. I have LVs,Gucci,Guidis,Coach,Dooneys,Sartos,Pollinis, and non designer bags. To use a cooking analogy, You don't always have to use saffron when turmeric will do! Be we'll and happy with all your choices!

Me too. A bit embarassed to admit it but I do feel somehow not as put together when I'm not carrying a designer bag. I really need to get over this : )
I feel the EXACT same way. It's nothing against non-designer bags, but there's just something about a really well made handbag that pulls everything together. Now the only time I use non-designer bags is when I go away on vacation to the Caribbean.

I definitely can't carry non designer bags anymore, and it has nothing to do with snobbery! It's as simple as this - when I have spent a TON of money on designer bags, I find it wasteful to let them sit in my closet. I don't have that sort of money. If I use them, at least I've spent the money on something that I use. Also, why would I want to carry a lesser bag when I have access to nicer bags? I hoarded some no name cute bags for a while, but they just sat there... so I don't lie to myself anymore.

I agree with you,
They are there to be used,
I did use to get cheaper bags when I had my first there was no looking back,
I know its not down to snobbery, but people who know me think I am just cause I have expensive bags ,
I have a couple of cheaper bags and I don't use them,
But why do people judge you by your expensive items, they wouldn't judge if you carried cheap bags,
My friend actually keeps a non designer bag for school runs so she doesn't get judged,
I will never buy a non designer bag again.
