thankyou very much shinymagpie! shame i typed that from my phone and bought it before i got to see your reply. it looked so real though and i was convinced it was real even more by the worn out state, i didnt think somebody would wear a fake that much. bummer.

Oh. That's a pity. It could be second or 3rd hand - the shop person may not even know it's a fake. There are plenty of fakes out there, but you can be lucky sometimes and find a gem! What is written on the zipper?

the zipper says YKK.
it has no hologram sticker or MADE IN stamp.
however it looks like there is a place where the sticker has come off, but fakes have stickers too. only way to tell these days is to buy from CHANEL boutiques directly.

Buying from the Boutique is a good idea. But for anything recycled (and there are lots of pretty authentic bags out there....), do run it past the experts at the authenticate-this-chanel thread. I can tell you already that the recycled bag with the R is a fake. But anything else you see, the people on the ATC thread can confirm in an instant. Don't give up. I found an authentic Gucci in a tiny op shop in the middle of the Hay Plains in Oz once, and bought it for $5. Those bags are out there!

Are the CC's still being stamped on the more recent classic flaps with GHW? I recen't purchased one, but do not see the stamps that everyone is posting about..

mine also doesn't have any marks on cc....i am sure it's authentic....it's from 07.

i have a gold hw bag with one of the engraving on it...the knob area i think get hit often by the back of the clasp and thus its becoming silver... i saw about people talking abt changing the clasp etc. does Chanel replate it or they change it... and when they change it, do they actually use back the original ones thats on the bag or they just find whichever hardware is available. Thanks

Chanel started releasing some light ghw in 08 and stopped stamping ghw around 09. So bags from 09 onwards do not have stamped ghw.

Thanks for the information. I have another Qn abt light ghw. the one i own is 2004 bag and with the engraving but the gold isnt that yellow compared to the vintage bag. is this normal? before 2008, is it just the standard ghw color or there's different tone of ghw as well?

i think the one i am having is between the yellow ghw and light ghw. The chain is still in great condition, no tarnish etc but its not that yellow ghw. i am wondering if maybe the color of the bag affect the gold i thought i am looking at... hehee sound kinda silly. the bag is ivory, cream color. thanks
